Awesome. I was just making a cave in DDraft yesterday, not finished yet, I will try to borrow some of your ideas. I took a different approach regarding the cave walls, instead of using the modular: 1) used the cave tool to open the walls and floor; 2) covered using the path tool to place the FA cave walls over FA cave cliffs and the terrain tools to place FA textures; 3) changed the original cave walls and floor color to have alpha = 0.
Really interesting to see some of your methodology. I'm new to the software and can't wait to ding in more to make some fun content for the indie TTRPGs I love playing.
Glad to see you found your way to the channel. :) I hope my working method and explanation are of some use. You’ll certainly develop them of your own after some practice but it might helpt to kickstart it a bit. If you ever have a question don’t hesitate to ask!
Amazing again! Cave assets and paths are the main reasons I jumped into learning CSP because of how fiddly it is in DD. I was attempting a floating island map using the cliff path and the artifacts were not good and aligning assets, especially when scaled down, was a pain.
Yeah that's a problem I often encounter. I'm actually switching over to CSP right now as well, mainly for that reason, and better texture blending! Especially floating Islands are a nightmare in DD.
They were FA assets, but I believe they have been reworked/replaced with something else. I’m not dure but you might still be able to find them in their legacy packs.
Hello - Awesome content thank you. I put hours of work into a DD map, using the same walls you have. Decided I would like to add the same textures you have, but it's missing from my textures selection - in fact my textures list is... VERY limited!! SO I attempted to download another asset pack, upload it to the map, this cleared the map of all my wall work and I can't get it back. Even re-adding the asset pack to the map hasn't worked. Could you please tell me (a) if there is a way to get all my work back, and (b) which Forgotten Adventures asset pack to download to get the same cave textures... I know not all the FA asset packs are DD friendly - thank you in advance
It does make it easier, though I think I'd still prefer the cavewall objects over the pathways simply because the objects look better. Pathways will give you more freedom in terms of design though!
They have removed it in favour of new water assets. Potentially you can find some in the “Legacy” packs they have. But I’d recommend using the newer water assets. They look waaaay better.
Hey, how did you get your assets to sort that way? I've clicked the "sort by name" as opposed to "sort by asset pack" and it still shows me the asset pack. I'd love to have the alphabetical list like you, would be life a lot easier. Is there something I'm missing?
TO be honest. now that I think of it I believe they've always been sorted aplhabetically for me that way. I can't remember selecting any specific setting for that. I always figurd it is build in to the asset packs. Are you using the FA assets as well? And is your DD updated to the most recent verison?
@@TenaciousWarden Hmm strange. I tried figurring it out but can't seem to pinpoint the issues. I recommend going to the Dungeondraft discord and ask your question in there. There are a few people much more knowledgeable on DD in there than I am! You can find the discord here: discord.gg/J9Czgpu

How do I install this cave walls add on to DungeonDraft? everytime I download this free modular pack from their website the files inside appear as PNG image files instead of the dungeondraft asset files they should be.
Are you sure you have the Forgotten Adventures DUngeondraft integration? They should be in there and be installed along with the other assets in the pack. You can find the DD integration in this post by FA: www.patreon.com/posts/56375276 Let me know if you can get things sorted!
Those are assets from the Forgotten Adventures Dungeondraft Integrations. If you like the style I really recommend you check that out, they have so many different assets and it's actually really cheap. :D You can find a link to their Patreon and website in the description.
*So the Alt key and using the Cave Brush tool somehow makes cave walls. How am I supposed to know that? Don't know. For some reason it lags my computer enough that it took me about an hour to figure out that's how to do it as it doesn't show up for 10-20 seconds after I try it. And why does my terrain brush now not change my dungeon floor but the void spaces outside the walls? This is really frustrating, it doesn't feel like it should take 2 hours to figure out these basic functions. And changing my water color in the Terrain -> Water Brush menu isn't changing the color of the water I already have on the map.
look at all those assets you have.. I hope with all those you can make something cool. I have bought a few packs but unfortunately either I put them in the wrong folder or not all of them are active.

@@fakefairytale05 Yeah I was just really confused why they have release it in a state of mess or if I just didn't understand how it functions. But thanks
To be frank, it doesn't really matter which assets you use. You can use the build in tool to create more or less an identical map like this one with any asset pack. (or the base assets). The theory still holds up.

That's quite clever. I never thought of using the cave-tool like that. :) That'll definitely make designing the cave a bit easier.

Sorry but I was looking for a tutorial actually using the "cave" tool. Not "ditch caves entirely"
That’s unfortunate. The cave tool is not worth the trouble in my opinion. Hope you’ll find what you’re looking for elsewhere. Good luck!
