  • Hey everyone, thanks for viewing the restoration of this 1977 Toyota Landcruiser FJ-40 Beach Cruiser project we built for a customer. The vehicle will live on Cape Cod and be mostly only used in the summer months. The restoration took about 8 months to complete and we went through the vehicle doing underbody restoration & undercoating, rust repair, body panel replacement, metal fabrication, seat upholstery, floor spray in bedliner, bodywork & paint. The vehicle is sporting its original dune beige paint finish with alot of factory options. The vehicles is still running the factory straight 6 cylinder engine with 4 speed transmission, 2.5" ome suspension lift, American Racing wheels, bfgoodrich all terrain tires, Aqualu aluminum half doors and barn door kit. Watch the restoration video to learn more about this cool truck as well as the time-lapse video on this restoration. Visit us on the web at GregToyotaRestorations.com & GregsRestorations.com.

His passion, dedication and attention to detail are praiseworthy. I prefer the stretched out FJ43 for a longer wheelbase and to use it more as a useful daily driver. Nothing compare to first generation Ford Broncos and old school Toyota FJ landcruisers. Simple..utilitarian no BS...no frills just hit the trail and go. Wish Toyota would re-release this truck...cheers Greg!

Love the way you did a conservative restoration on this FJ. I had the thrill of owning two 79 FJ40s in Olive back in the 80s when I was in HS and College. I ran the American Racing 15 inch white wagon wheels which I think looked great on these FJs. Lots of memories in these FJs. Hope to own one again in the future. I recall on the 79s there was a blower fan on the left fender that would blow air over the master cylinder and carburetor to prevent vapor lock.

Thanks! Yeah the customer was trying to bring back some memories of his previous landcruiser. If you ever need another landcruiser let us know! I believe they started that in 78 with the carb cooling fan

A 'body on' restoration sounds less expensive. Staying with leaf springs in front with a two-inch lift and new shocks/ tires - do those 32x11.50-15's rub the springs, ever? A fantastic job down to every detail. I sold Toyotas in the mid-seventies and my brother loaned me his - love the old FJ's. My first car was a '66 IH Scout 80 with 4-speed, lockouts, full-top. A new set of H70-15's (P225x70-15) soon followed - Goodyear Polyglas R.W.L - they rubbed on the front and rear of the front leaf springs in a tight spot. Talk about 'bare bones' - dreaming of a Toyota FJ like this!

The tires were the perfect size, did not rub at all. It's the perfect ride!

IF there were a valid reason/ excuse to hit a trail, what a difference your mods would make on so many situations. I have only experienced the O.E. tire size. Your tire size choice looks perfect, too. A lottery win away from doing business! @@gregsrestorations7019

Great looking FJ40. I have one and have been wanting to put a stainless steel header (6 into ) and a complete modified exhaust on my vehicle. What type of performance did you notice by doing this modification? More power, exhaust note, fuel economy etc. Thanks

We noticed a little more power & fuel economy. Not much change in sound tone
