Thank you for the informative videos. I live in Chicago and have continued to inform myself of the laws regarding the concealed carry restrictions since taking my classes. I am in hopes of purchasing my first revolver & semi auto soon. keep up the good work
Thank you for this update. I have to say that I am surprised that any sensible changes to the existing CCW laws were even possible in Illinois. I'm curious to know who let the adults into the room.
I have my Illinois foid card, but now I currently reside in Ga and have a conceal carry here, I know it doesn't have reciprocity in Illinois, so how do I go about getting trained for Illinois conceal carry for a out of state resident, because I visit quite frequently.
Anthony Chavez u can do a sale by going to a firearms dealer with ffl, run each other background check this way u knw if he legal to own..if not legal to own and u sell u kinda screwed ur self...but they are going to charge...then a bill of sale..typical Cya stuff
If you are to inherit a firearm from a relatives estate, and the person currently in possession of the firearm has no Foid card, what would be your course of action? Is it ok to take possession since the person is deceased. I presently hold a Foid and concealed carry license.
Hello Mr. Bius I have a question on April 22nd will make a year regarding my CCL and all I keep receiving is a letter every month from the ISP that they need an additional 30 days is this common practice for them to take this long?
Thank you for your videos sir, they are very educational, I have tried to find information about the high capacity magazines are legal in Chicago but some people say 15 and some say 10.... I am interested in getting the glock 19 which has a 15 round mag, but before I do I’d like to make sure that it’s legal in Chicago which is where I reside. Thank you.
I believe that there is no way that there magazine ban can stand up in court. I have looked and I am not aware of anybody who has been arrested for having a high capacity magazine. I believe that it is just a threat.
There seems to be a lot of confusion on concealed carry magazine capacity if you are a non resident of Cook County or Chicago when driving into each of them. Can anyone clarify the magazine capacity for concealed carry when driving into Chicago or Cook County?
Seems that Chicago is just threatening a simple ordinance violatio. The misdemeanor of violation the Firearm Concealed Act does not apply, due to Preemption. Chicago is trying to make their own rules... We NEED a test case to get a judge to rule, but Chicago is not charging those with high capacity mags with a misdemeanor.... That could change...
@@MikeBius I live in Chicago and carry a Glock 22. It has a 15 round magazine, in my CHL class back in mid 2015 my class instructor said you better not carry anything past 10 rounds but Cook County says 15 is the limit then I hear it's been scrapped and there's no limit (I just can't see that in chicago). Some areas are 12 or 10 round limits lol. It's a mess. I have yet to run into a cop while carrying so I don't know what would happen but getting a straight answer seems to be impossible. To my knowledge there hasn't been a "test case" for someone carrying a high cap mag but if I could avoid it I don't wanna be that 1st case haha.
@@TRIIGGAVELLI Good luck trying to figure it all out! The bottom line is that neither Cook County nor the city of Chicago seem to want this to go to a judge, as they know they would lose. I have heard of two cases where the magazines were confiscated, but nothing criminal. The Firearm Concealed Carry Act preempts local laws, so they are limited to just threats and bullying to get people to comply. I doubt you would be charged criminally, but of course I cannot guarantee you wouldn't be the first....
Quick questions if you will. What laws do the getting your ccl override? In chicago and cook county there are magazine capacity testrictions. However illinois residenrs with a ccl do not have such restrictions. There is also an assauly weapons ban, but some cook county gun shops sell them. Does a ccl also override the ban? Because the ban also prohibits sales even if those gun shops would only sell the to non COOK residents.
The concealed carry laws only apply to handguns. The "assault" weapons ban in Cook only applies to long guns. So, registration of long guns and such still applies in areas with ordinances, but the concealed carry law overrides such ordinances when it comes to handguns.
+Marc H yeah i figured. really since the state of Illinois doesnt know what youre buy you could buy an AR. The state only knows if you bought a long gun or handgun.
Adrian Soto Yeah. Also, the state does't really care. It's up to the local governments to enforce the ordinances. CPD doesn't even really care about people being armed. Only the political figures and chiefs of police want us unarmed. Most cops here are pro-gun.
+Marc H this is true. honestly the banning of assault styled rifles is unconstatutional, the current ban is going to make is making it to the higher courts and going to be unconstatutional just like the hand gun ban. politicians need to understand that when i buy an AR or a pistol it is for my self defense and not mass shootings.
Mike, I'm taking my CCW class next month. I have passed the Illinois hunter safety course. My instructor told me that I do NOT qualify for a 4 hour credit . He said Illinois only excepts the full 8 hour class unless I have prior police or military. Is this correct?
Sorry for the delay. Your instructor is totally wrong. The certificate he must issue you upon completion makes that crystal clear and you can call the Illinois State Police to verify.
+Mike Bius (Illinois Gun Pros) While you are correct not many instructors are set up to handle the 4 hour credit - many just offer a discount price on the first 8
Illinois needs reciprocity with it's surrounding states! I can be trusted in something like 38 other states but not in Illinois which is an island in the middle of the Midwest! I'm glad I no longer live there!
+Mike Bius (Illinois Gun Pros) Which IMHO, is wrong! If IL refuses to recognize MI,WI,MO,KY,IA and IN, those states should not recognize IL! I am considering applying for an IL non resident permit. I qualify for the 8 hour provision being ex-military. Of course as soon as I go through the hassle and expense, they'll reciprocate!
interesting question. if you live in Cook County, Sheriff Dart will object for just about any criminal history going back a Looong time. He has made so many spurious objections, the Review Board is backlogged almost a year! if you Google 430 ILCS 66, you can read that, unless you are prohibited from possessing a firearm, 5 years is supposed to be the limit.
DIYworld Productreview I'm wondering the same thing...last I heard no mag restriction...but when I tried to get a 13-16 rounder 45 (springfield arm..ss).I got sold the 10 round mag...and got told they couldn't sell it bc of there store poliCy and illinois;-(...
Billy Bad Ass ur on property u can basically do watever u want..as long as ur not waving it up air...like a cowboy...i walk outa my house all the time with it open..both neighbors see it and don't say shit...but then I get to the alley I conceal it..like im supposed to
In Illinois, to buy or possess guns or ammo you must have a Firearm Owner ID card (FOID). It's just like the permit you must possess to exercise your other constitutional rights.......
+Steve Mirabile That is a good question. I would recommend you call the Illinois State Police at 217.782.7980 and ask them. If your FOID has expired, technically you shouldn't have a gun....
Mike Bius, usually when I deal with cops I am always courteous and polite. But I never give more information than is required. If a cop asks me I will then tell them I am bearing an arm.
I left Illinois for good in 1982, naturally the way Illinois did things was engrained in my mind and I thought fla was ass back wards. prior to 1988 county's issued ccf permits and the sheriff signed off on them. 1988 the state took over and issued c.c.f. license, from 1983 to 2009 being a LEO, I DID'NT NEED A PERMIT, but in 2017 I decided to get one due to the political climate of the country, total time from start to finish 30 days, which was fast , some say 60 days. plus I can carry on h.r.218 nationwide.
can I apply for my FOID card if I have two domestic batteries, and can i be able to get it?but they are misdemeanors? my first one was in 2005 and my 2nd was in 2012?

#2 bc the foid and cc number are the same...#3 when they run your plate...dispatcher comes back and says cc is active.?..
Yes
Is there a law concerning magazine capacity? If so, does it apply to concealed carry and home defense scenarios?
from what i research I have done, no magazine capacity laws... which i find hard to believe
