SURRENDERS - MANILA and RANGOON

(10 Sep 1945) Lieutenant-General Kawabe met the Japanese surrender delegates who landed at Manila. Lieutenant-General Sutherland represented General MacArthur in explaining that arrangements were being made for the signing of the unconditional surrender by Japan. The surrender in Rangoon took place at Government House where Lieutenant General Browning officiated.
