- My father shot some film of a derailed freight car (with me climbing all over it) and them putting it back on track in the frieght yard in Lawrence, Ma around 1962. Sometime later he filmed Ralph Murphy working the gates at the crossing on Andover St. and a few of his coworkers either starting or ending their shifts.

I grew up at this freight yard in Lawrence I remember Ralph cranking the gates ..... He really was an amazing person. We used to go and see him and sit with him in the gatehouse .....loved us kids and treated us like we were his best friends.....
You were SO lucky to see and experience the B&M, right up close. Memories of a far better time, gone forever.
can't believe i found this-my father used to have ralph over our house all the time; he taught me how to play tennis using the wall of an old building on south broadway as a backboard in the 70s; boy does he look different here
