As someone from Northern Ireland, he absolutely butchered the Belfast accent. He took it out the back, and just fucking shot it. Made me cringe every time he opened his mouth
Naw, it was really bad. Even the term "Northern Ireland accent" is daft. There are loads of them. If an Irish actor was playing a cajun fisherman he wouldn't talk like a cop from Brooklyn. Charlie was worse than that he sounded like a Welsh man with a brain injury.

Did he actually attempt the northern Irish (Belfast) accent in that clip? From someone born in Belfast if that was it I can assure everyone it is not good. Not sure why he attempted it as it's regarded as one of the hardest to do well.
It was horrendous, I watched this in Belfast with a few friends and we cringed every time he spoke, ended up muting his dialogue and using the subtitles. Brutal!
I live 45 minutes from Belfast and I'm not sure I could do a "Belfast accent". We have so many accents it's insane. I sound completely different from people who live 20 minutes in every direction...well, I think we sound different. It's probably not much different to the untrained ear!
As an N. Irish person. Accent was not great! Acting was grand. But as a human being...apparently the guy knocks it out of the park and doesn't bring politics to work. I'll watch anything he involved in
Yeah watched it last night, from Tyrone myself I was cringing but when he says it's for the American audience it makes sense they slow it down, Similar to Sam Neil in Peaky Blinders, and Sam was born in Omagh
Still sounds like Jax doing a British accent; he says he's had varying degrees of accent success but I would have guessed this is him imitating a very generic British accent.
What with his accent I don’t have a problem with it just sounds like a mix of a bunch of different accents probably him practicing all the time and starting to sound like all of the different languages he practices just like Austin butler in Elvis
They should have had him just speak in his normal accent which is unique. Why give the character a Northern Irish accent? It serves no purpose and sounds like a joke. Maybe it sounded better before the ADR but the man has a cool very unique accent naturally that he never uses!! What a missed opportunity! This movie is just so bad on so many levels 🤦
That was quite possibly the worst initiative towards creating a Northern Ireland accent that I have ever heard, and I actually work in the film industry, where I can come across a lot of English and foreign actors, endeavour our accent… … And most of them fail!
SAM NEIL IN PEAKY BLINDERS - hands down best Norhtern Irish accent and hes not even a BRIT. i thought charlies accent did not work in rebel moon - or maybe thats just because the movie was stupendously bad - and not even Ed Skreins performance could save it
Im just gonna say it Sam Niels accent is poor there i said it. I used to hate anything to do with N.I coming on tv coz they would always butcher it. Its not far off black face just no need at all just get someone authentic ffs
People here saying his accent was poor, the Northern Irish accent is ghastly in general. The accent made you stop watching? if I heard him do it perfect I would stop watching.
Ghastly 😂 just wait till he butchers ur Henley on thames or berwick on pon tweed accent you will be shocked ney agast at the butchery of the kings english. Ghastly u know wtf
Who was his dialect coach, Korean Billy?
Literally the part where he states he "absolutely nailed it" reminds me of Korean Billy...
As someone from Northern Ireland, he absolutely butchered the Belfast accent. He took it out the back, and just fucking shot it. Made me cringe every time he opened his mouth
🤣🤣🤣🤣
He had absolutely 0 tonality all sentences ended in him lilting upward and sound the exact same
😂😂
Honestly he has an accent in any English he speaks, is what I've noticed it
You fools did not listen to a word he said did yas
Any film where Charlie Hunnam plays can be called a masterpiece and it will not be a mistake 🎬👍👏🏾
He should have dropped the odd "Here's me, mate.." 😅
Now i have to watch Rebel Moon. To me, an American from Iowa, he sounds perfect to me in every thing he does. Leave him alone!! ❤

Hello my Dear beautiful lady are you really my son fans Charlie Hunnam💕💕💞😊?
Did he actually attempt the northern Irish (Belfast) accent in that clip? From someone born in Belfast if that was it I can assure everyone it is not good. Not sure why he attempted it as it's regarded as one of the hardest to do well.
Very intriguing voice ⭐️
Hello my Dear beautiful lady are you really my son fans Charlie Hunnam💕💕💞😊?
Is he still in it slightly?
That’s what I thought too lol
They squandered his character
I think his accent in rebel moon is cute. Charlie is an interesting man.
It was horrendous, I watched this in Belfast with a few friends and we cringed every time he spoke, ended up muting his dialogue and using the subtitles. Brutal!
Can't say you've mastered a northern irish accent without dropping a Noooooouuuuuuuw
On behalf of all people from Belfast, he fucking butchered it. It was like watching sons of anarchy again.
I live 45 minutes from Belfast and I'm not sure I could do a "Belfast accent". We have so many accents it's insane. I sound completely different from people who live 20 minutes in every direction...well, I think we sound different. It's probably not much different to the untrained ear!
I thought I was the only one who thought the accent was absolutely horrible made me stop watching the rest of the movie😂
I turned it off when he opened his mouth.
Doya like dags
Thats English Pikey Dude!
Lol was that him doing the accent there?? 😂 Thats shocking!
I think hes absorbed some Northern Irish, Welsh and Australian in there lol.
Trying to be Tom Hardy too much.

Like that actor but this show was sucked
Unless you're from Belfast DON'T do the accent!!!!
Only Daniel Day Lewis pulled it off in "The Boxer" and "in the name of the Father". Even then he drifted off a few times.
Still sounds like Jax doing a British accent; he says he's had varying degrees of accent success but I would have guessed this is him imitating a very generic British accent.
Didn’t put any effort into Cockney then:
see Green Street Hooligans
What with his accent I don’t have a problem with it just sounds like a mix of a bunch of different accents probably him practicing all the time and starting to sound like all of the different languages he practices just like Austin butler in Elvis
He what?....😮
He completely butchered a cockney accent in green street
it was most distracting thing about the film, now my suspicion was confirmed. they ADR the whole thing. it didn't match his lips )))
Exactly. I'm from Armagh and the Nordy accent can be rough. His own accent would been cool enough
This interviewer is lying ,
As a man with lots of family in from Northern Ireland the accent was really bad
Definitely did a decent job with it.
As an Irishman I can confirm his accent was pure shite. If he thinks that's good then by christ we need better actors.
He can't even do an English accent anymore, never mind Northern Irish
That was quite possibly the worst initiative towards creating a Northern Ireland accent that I have ever heard, and I actually work in the film industry, where I can come across a lot of English and foreign actors, endeavour our accent…

The northern Irish accent is lovely, he just didn’t do it well. He doesn’t do any accent asides from American well tbh.
I've lived in NI my entire life and his accent was awful.
It’s was awful.. and just no need for it
Insulting 😢
Nailed it? It was fucking dreadful
No you didn’t. You butchered it. Was 10/10 terrible
He doesn't even know what his OWN accent is...
But yeah, his space Belfast accent was pish.
Thats a poor accent
