This is how the video starts, as the idea that brought me to create it. Image if Sterek was Canon...would you love it, ah?
In a parallel universe, in which the movie is set, Stiles loves Derek that isn't there anymore. Stiles is remembering him, and with him all the squabbles, the jealousy, and all those thing you feel when you're in love. When Stiles is injured in a car accident what comes in his mind is Derek face.

Sterek needed to be canon. Even if neither actor/character had sex or shirtless scenes, I believe their paring (could have) strengthened the series. Both acknowledged they needed each other while maintaining their other relationships. An odd dynamic with twists and pitfalls, but a way for two straight characters to have a much needed romance requiring very little on screen time.
Until Teen Wolf came along, I never paid attention to fan fiction or pairings. Eyes open now.

I honestly think that the original plot line was supposed to be Derek and Stiles; but something changed and they tried to pair off Stiles with a different Hale. When that wouldn't work they tried to pair that Hale(Tate) with Scott.

They set up Stiles and Derek so efficiently in season one, why would they do that if not because they wanted to make something of it? They strangled the whole relationship after the set up - why?
