The humble 340 Jag leafer has the 1972 EXT oval racer as its progenitor. Arctic spun off so many models based off that little purple rocket over a decade. Thats why the FA engine is mounted over to the left side just a bit. EXT ancestry. They changed the bulkhead to a simpler design and updated seats and dashes, dropped in mellow trail engines over the years, but that chassis will turn on a dime when set up right.
Back in about 2005 I was given a 1976 Jag 2000 275FA for free. Non running but in great shape. I found a loose wire and rode the hell out of it for a season (My only ride that year) and sold it the following year for $200. I did nothing else to it except fix that loose wire. It topped out at about 45mph, had no heated grips, and I froze my digits off every time I went out, but it was a blast!

Now, right now, before you forget...... run so fuel stabilizer through it and then empty that gas tank (or whatever your process is to mothball) so it will be fresh and ready to enjoy this fall when the flurries begin. 👍👍😎👍👍. I always tell myself I will run the stabilizer through the carb and empty the tank when the riding is over. Then I never do, and of course have to fiddle with it when it's time to use the machine again.
Sucks that we here in Northern Germany hardly ever get real snow. Atleast not in the last years. But that thing rips. Really nice video. Does the Jag fit on the Kei truck?
I used to haul 340 FC in an extended Pontiac Montana. Installed a fuel shut off valve on the tank so I wouldn’t pass out from fumes, left one of rear vent windows open a crack just in case. Had to remove the hood before loading it. Then sat it on an old cover across the seat. Good times.
Btw I find that most of the complaints about Jags can be sourced to the facts that these sleds in this chassis were made from 1975 to 1981. That’s more than 40 years ago. Anyone who thinks a 40 year old machine isn’t going to need a proper going through is dreaming. Unless it dropped out from a 1978 Time warp, no matter who made it, you start at the front bumper and go through it to the back bumper. Once that’s DONE, these make great vintage riders or a great kids trainer. Just my two cents, your mileage may vary. 😉

That's my first sled. So reliable and great on gas. It's not fast but you can throw it around in the trails. Good find
