I have the dvd, it is brillant. I have never seen anything that Freddie did especially live that wasn't perfect. Although I always prefer Freddie performing and singing, it is worth mentioning that Brian's "Brighton Rock Solo" is also included in Wembley and Budapest, I Think, and it is amazing
I like it, but I can't help feeling that the band may have played it a little too safe with the overreliance on hits and the near-exact same set gig after gig.
The point of Friends Will Be Friends being placed between WWRY and WATC is to surprise the audience. Everyone expects those two to be played back to back, so it was placed there to mix things up.
I saw Queen on their 1980 Game tour. They were excellent. I would love to have seen them during the Magic tour. They were at the height of their performance capabilities and were very professional as shown by the Wimbley video. Queen also had a much larger body of work to pull songs from during the Magic tour. Freddie was always a crowd pleaser and I enjoyed seeing him work his magic in 1980 however, he was even more charismatic during the Wimbley performance. Thanks again for another Queen review. I enjoy your work.
I was lucky enough to see them in 1985 in Melbourne. It was about 2 months before Live Aid. I remember the media saying they'd got back together for Live Aid and I was like WTF? We just saw The Works tour and they were magnificent. I was 7 rows from the front so that definitely helped ✌😁👑
One of the things I love about the 80s concerts, especially the 1986 concerts, is that synthesizer is replaced by Brian's guitar. Such as in I Want To Break Free. Sorry to those that like synth but Brian's guitar makes everything sound better as far as I am concerned! There were definitely songs I missed like Somebody To Love and Dragon Attack and Killer Queen but they couldn't play everything and they did fit in some oldies like Seven Seas of Rhye and In The Lap of the Gods and the medley is killer! So yes, it did live up to the hype.
I've listened to every Queen tour and the Magic Tour is still my favourite. There are some that may have better setlists, better band performances or a stronger Freddie but as far as a thrill of watching a show from start to finish goes, the enjoyment level on Magic Tour is the strongest. Visually, it's definitely the best out of all them too. The yellow jacket alone makes this the best!
It was Queen's most successful tour ever and they earned $30 million dollars from it (in 1986, that was no small feat). Plus the concert video and Freddie legendary yellow jacket and Ay-oh call out have lived on for 35 years. So yes, I would say it did live up to the hype.
easily one of their best tours especially considering The Works Tour one tour before so also i love the vocoder on a lot of the songs such as A kind Of Magic and Under Pressure And especially on Radio gaga and sometimes spike does it on We are the champions so yeah easily my favourite Tour
It’s now nearly 36 years ago, no internet, no cellphones, no lying media like there is today so a rock concert by a big huge band was like a spaceship landing and hypnotising 80,000 people for two hours! I saw them on that tour at Slane Castle, Ireland thank heavens! The pushing was caused by the amount of booze people had in them! Mercury’s voice was showing wear and tear live by the mid 80s. He’s more forced tenor and less high like the 70s and on album. Roger can be heard behind him at lot on this tour. It’s a shame he got ill because The Miracle and Innuendo never went on tour.
2:10 I summarized the setlist of the Magic Tour. Is this accurate: 1. One Vision 2. Tie Your Mother Down 3. In the Lap of the Gods… Revisited 4. Seven Seas of Rhye 5. Liar (Intro) 6. Tear It Up 7. A Kind of Magic 8. Vocal Improvisation 9. Under Pressure 10. Another One Bites the Dust 11. Rumours Speech/Mustapha (Intro) 12. Who Wants to Live Forever 13. I Want to Break Free 14. Impromptu 15. I Feel Fine (Intro) 16. Gimme Some Lovin' 17. Keep Yourself Alive (Intro)/Immigrant Song 18. Guitar Solo 19. Now I'm Here 20. '39 (Intro) 21. Love of My Life 22. Tavaszi Szél Vizet Áraszt 23. Is This the World We Created... ? 24. (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care 25. Hello Mary Lou 26. Tutti Frutti 27. Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting 28. Bohemian Rhapsody 29. Hammer to Fall 30. Crazy Little Thing Called Love Encore 31. Big Spender 32. Radio Ga Ga Encore 33. We Will Rock You 34. Friends Will Be Friends 35. We Are the Champions 36. God Save the Queen [Taped]
The bigger and the better!!! Of course was a great tour. O don't understand why the álbum "Live Magic is so bad for the press😞. It's a good and fast best moments of Budapeste, Wembley and knebword Gigs! I love This Record. Special in vinil with that photo of them arriving for the last concert. 5*
No, Live Magic is a live album itself. It was released right after the tour (in December 1986) unlike the other live albums from the Magic Tour. It mainly featured performances from Knebworth but also had some Wembley and Budapest footage as well. The album was made to fit on on only one vinyl record so they couldn't include the full show (other live albums like Wembley and Live Killers from the Jazz Tour were across 2 records so the entire shows could be there). Instead they ended up cutting down songs or completely cutting them out, which ended up with the album getting a lot of criticism. Because of that the album has been a little bit forgotten which is probably why you haven't heard of it.
What are your thoughts on The Magic Tour?

I'd love more on Queen. Can't get enough.

The Magic Tour was perfect!!!! Wembley & Budapest were amazing!!!! I watch them quite often.

Short answer: Yes!
That was my first thought! Did Queen ever do a bad gig? I doubt it 👑

One of my favorite set lists. Fun video 👍
Magic tour is my very Favorite . My fave concert is Live in Budapest.
Love your Queen videos mate, keep them coming
What a tour! I think Freddie was at his vocal peak during them, although he played less piano, he made up for it with his voice!!
easily one of their best tours especially considering The Works Tour one tour before so

Yes brilliant thanks 🙏
I'm partial to the Mary Lou and other 50s classic medley. :D

I prefer the Hot Space and Crazy tours 1981-2.
Do you mean live in Budapest, when you are saying live magic?
Like the album?
