Good animes. Though the major difference is that Lelouch never got drunk with power; he lost control of his Geass but he is all too aware that what he is doing is morally wrong despite being "good" in a utilitarian point of view. Light, on the other hand, completely lost sight of his moral compass somewhere in the plot of Death Note.
For me this is the greatest ending. Not only is it a really good song, but it is also an extremely good choice for that anime and that part of the anime. It really emphasises the feelings you get at the end of the episodes, which for me is what a good ending should do, and this was the first time I experienced it (not the last time though). It is also the first ending I haven't wanted to skip.

Team up with them like Suzaku and wait for a miracle or lead a resistance. Even though Susaku did not approve of Lelouch's attitudes, I wonder which of them felt they had done their duty in the end because of the people and an ideal world? Charles was not going to give in to the will of the people, Schneizel wanted to place the people hostage to a weapon in the skies, but it was Lelouch who broke all chains and left the word freedom stamped in an era of peace. It is not always good to follow the rules, especially when they are manipulated by an oppressive and dictatorial government.
This song I believe denotes that Lelouch still..no matter how far he went felt like he was living a lie he couldn't escape. And that there is a true Enlightenment he could reach without bloodshed or evil; through pure radiant intellect alone

But something about this song fills me with hope, as well as that lingering pain that will stick with me for the rest of my days. Code Geass is so good, man.
From this song, I feel the pain Lelouch went through and the mistakes of my own and Lelouch's past. And how much I want them to be different, they'll never be. I feel more despair than hope in this song but also I feel more vigilant of my present and future, to not repeat my mistakes.

Lelouch never acted strong. He was strong himself. His soul and body was synchronized. Moments of doubts never deviate his course. There was no line he wouldn't cross for the ultimate goal. That's how supreme he was. That's the strength he decided to choose. But the mental strain was too big that he gives in after all his goals have been achieved. ( May or may not have been the side effect from resurrected but he is still a human and the strain he put his shoulder on is un-believeable ) We choose to be strong in our own way. As a human being, he affected my childhood a lot. I look up to him. I doubt any character can ever be as strong as him on the ratio of real life like character building.
He could accomplish the Zero Requiem plan only because, I think, he knew he had a guaranteed death, with a guaranteed future with his plan and Suzaku there. Accomplish something too big, that could be worth of all the shit he lifted over his shoulders, getting loans knowing they will be paid.
