Actually when he first started performing he was shaking his legs because he was extremely nervous but the thing is the girls loved it so he kept doing it
People that knew him stated he was shy and became incredibly nervous before he performed. Right up to his last concert.

Elvis was infamously shy. I mean when he took control on stage know and at other times. But he had stage fright and he was always a little nervous from the earliest days. That's why it amazes me about him as a performer is that he was able to channel that into something profound.

From the start Elvis wasn’t trying to be sexual with his movements. What started with nervousness, became movement with the music, and reacting to the audience. Thanks for sharing!
People that knew him said he was very shy except when he got on stage. So don't doubt your girlfriend she is right. Haha
Yes, Elvis WAS VERY shy! Your wife is intuitive. He always had stage fright before a show, but loved performing, so once he was on the stage and interacting with an audience, he was FIRE!! I think what Vivi meant with "shy", is that she felt Elvis was holding his moves back.
And she is perfectly right. On national TV, he couldn`t do the moves that he used to do in his concerts. And it`s also a fact that Elvis always had stage fright, especially on TV.

He was, indeed, the first heartthrob.
The 4 gentlemen clapping are, were the Jordanaires. They did the back up vocals for Elvis from 1956-1965??? Including most of the tracks from movies in that period. They also did work with Ricky Nelson and a few others.

My Chinese friend in college told me that in China they know Elvis as mao-wang or king of cats. Chinese give western celebrities their own Chinese names. I don’t know why but that interesting info always stuck with me till now.
