Well, you really gonna be disappointed in the Bismarck.
I hated the gneisenau, but ur playing it wrong it's a mid to close range brawler. N btw Bismarck isn't any better unless you have your inspirations max ranked.
The good ol' Gneisenau... couldn't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside.

I love that ship! It’s been the most fun battleship I’ve played. Dispersion sucks but guns hit hard and great at appearing where you’re not expected
You're not missing anything not having Bismarck. The ONLY reason I suffered through Gneisenau, arguably the worse t6 "battleship", is because I wanted Bismarck because the ship is historically significant. In the game, Bismarck is below average at t7. Better than Gneisenau is at t6, but still pretty bad.
I think Bismarck's main probalem in the game is, in theory its supposed to be the tanky bb at t7 but it feels like half its hp are in its superstructure making it irnonically kinda fragile, esp to HE spam. Combined with typically bad average german dispersion and wildly inaccurate secondaries results in a ship that doesn't stand out as good at anything, subpar at everything.
Skill issue. Of all the ships I've had more than 100 battles in. Gneisenau is one of my best performing ships with a WR over 70%.
It's slim and nimble, it's fast, and it's a brawler. Work out how to best use those strengths and it is one of the best ships of it's tier.
I kinda make a promise to myself to not play Bismarck until I had Hide to put on it, and now that I have Hide I'll probably pick it up again

The Bismarck is just as bad if not worse imo. I run a full accuracy build with a maxed out commander and inspirations and still have bad dispersion, and don't even get me started on the AA.
I personally prefer the Zieten over the Bismark. I run a full secondary meme build with max 16 commanders. It's really fun, but it's definitely not as versatile
Rn I’m using Otto Cilliax with him (only level 10 with 1 legendary upgrade) and I have around 7.3km of range on it’s secondaries using none of the accuracy upgrades and doing a full secondary build, it’s quite interesting especially since it lets me bully any DDs that get too close
I run the German Dewey commander with Guepratte and Fraser for inspirations. Speed and more speed I like the ship a lot.
The bismark is actually wayy worse tbh, genisenau was pretty fun to me , bismark literally cant hit shit

German BB line is a good line t6 bbs Gneisenau is a power house in ranked or at t6 level if you can use her correctly inaccurate but reliable

That's always been my philosophy with Genisenau, I'm not here for a long time, I'm here for a good time. I've gotten some decent games like that lol.
I run a full speed build. 37.5 knots and 9 second rudder.

Yes I remember this ship terrible at range. But if you get the Bismarck with Hyde & Soviet Dewey you start smacking everyone.
The Gneisenau IS the absolute worst. You're arguably better off going with a pure Secondary + Torpedo build, and get used to doing lots of rams.
I lucked out by getting Bismarck's Premium sister, Tirpitz, in a box draw. Not the exact same, but close enough for me, so I've just never bothered grinding for the Bis.
Btw, Gneisenau's sister, Scharnhorst, is a Premium. She has different guns (nine lesser-calibre guns to the G's six), and so is actually not bad. Play her like a Battlecruiser and she does fine.
Historically, the Gneisenau was destroyed in port by Allied bombers, while being refitted with this heavier armament. She previously had the same guns as Scharnhorst.
The guns are inaccurate but it's my first tier 6 ship and i still think it's looking beautiful after 4 years.
I hate this ship, is months i try to get courage and grind the fucking bismark, but is completely useless, this ship is SHIT. Total garbage, can't build on secondaries, can't build on main guns, torpedoes hit like pillows... i did the WHOLE alternative battleship line like 1 year agò, and i did it in 3 months! Ive started also this one at same time but man, playing the geneisenau is just too much shit...
