Aloha, great videos!! Do you have a video on how to relace the rest of the catchers mitt? Thanks for taking it slow and explaining steps.

does the width of the needle matter? if so what size

The web is laced too tight. If you look at any high level catchers mitt the web will have 1/4-3/8” gap at the base and 3/8-1/2” gap on the sides so the web just floats between the thumb and index of the mitt. This allows for better pocket formation and receive the ball with less snap of the mitt.

The glove and laces aren't broken in at all

That’s after the glove is broken in

That 3/8 gap comes from use and lace being stretched out, I lace mine a little looser though bc I use a small glove

A good glove will run $250 on low end to $400 high end. The breaking in process is PRICELESS! The leather should last YEARS if taken care of over the years. The glove should form your hand perfectly after broken in and games played which takes considerable time. A player will tell you you can’t put a price on that period of time. Yes you can get it broken in to make it game ready, but not to the extent of it being formed to the players hand. Once you get there, paying to have a glove replaced is peanuts compared to what it takes to get a GOOD quality glove to where a player is comfortable with it.
