Y'all!! I was literally walking back to the truck to move on when Alex found that one tin can. It led to us discovering SO much paper ephemera, antique tins, and even some corals and shells! Those were so unexpected and cool to find. We love stuff like this and hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoyed digging! Happy diving and we'll see you next time :)

A paste made from POWDERED Barkeeper's Friend (very inexpensive) and drops of water will polish those tins up to a much nicer state. Wow! Amazing find. Cannot believe someone just trashed all that stuff. Coral is worth money as it is now illegal to harvest a lot of it. Antique coral has some monetary value on its own. It can be displayed or made into jewelry. I read recently that scientists are studying old coral stuffed away in museum as it helps them understand ocean health from what it was a century ago to now. Great rescue!

I loved watching all the things you were finding in the dumpster!! The old cans reminded me of my dad, who had cans like that in his garage with nuts, bolts, nails, etc. For tiny items, he used old tobacco tins, he used to smoke a pipe and used Prince Albert Tobacco in a can. I wish I could show you a picture of his cans in the garage. I love rocks and am a big rockhound fan!!! The coral and shells would be a rockhound’s dream to find!!! All the ephemera was an amazing find, too. You said one of the old checks was dated 1966, I was 4 years old then. I still have a sucrates can from the 80’s. My great grandmother called those cans like you found with various items her 'bits and bobbles cans' she had several. I remember being a child and pull a can down and start looking through a can, she would sit and tell me stories about each item. Buttons she could tell me what they came off of and why she kept them. It was for the memories. I miss those days and her.

OMG you guys when you pulled that Sucrets tin out, major childhood memory! I knew instantly when I saw it. You could buy those at the 'drugstore' for sore throats. I loved them. Tasted a smidge like black licorice if I remember correctly. Very interesting finds in this dive. I was a kid back in the 60's, FYI!

Love this dive!! I was curious about the bandaid tin so I looked it up. It seems they started using cardboard in 1994. They do bring back the tins for special partnerships and anniversaries. They also release limited editions occasionally. This dive reminded me of a few years ago when I had to clean out my parents house after they passed away. I saved lots of things from my childhood but, didn't have room for it all. My mom never threw anything away. It was overwhelming having to go through everything. But, it was neat seeing things from my past that my mom had saved. I ended up having to leave lots of things behind because the house was sold and I had a limited amount of time to clean it out.I gave away as much as possible. It hurt when I drove by there afterward and saw the huge dumpster in the driveway full of all of our childhood memories. Thank you guys for rescuing all the neat things from the past. It is so nice to see a young couple that enjoys things from the past. So many today could care less. I need to go and check out the website now for the ephemera haul.

SO GLAD you saved all those items! All metal cans, glass jars, old nails, etc. is worth saving! People buy it all because nothing is made like it anymore. Those wood pieces & the rusty circle is an old broken barrel. It would've been cool to see if it was all there! It was old, for sure. That coral was stunning! I think this was your best dive yet! Congratulations & thank you for saving tiny bits of history!! 😊

That was a fascinating dive. I wonder who the person was that owned all those things. There was an almost complete barrel there, the staves, the hoop and I think the base. The little white shells you found are cowrie shells. In some parts of the world they were once used as currency, shell money. I really enjoyed watching you dig out those finds. 👍🏼👍🏼

It’s so interesting that you have to go through trash to find ephemera. Don’t you know any old people? Trust me , us old folks have boxes and boxes of the stuff and have no idea what to do with it. I find it fascinating that all my old friends and I can’t get our children or grandchildren to take anything.
So we keep it and feel guilty that one day our children will toss it all in a dumpster when we die. I had to clear my mom’s house because she felt too guilty to toss old cards and letters. Now I have them to feel guilt about. Glad you enjoy what you are doing . Life is mysterious ❤😂
