Amelita Galli-Curci (1882-1963)
She was a singing Wonder!
Such a voice!
Like heaven!!❤❤
She makes it sound easy. What a wonder. A miracle of singing.
A delicate songbird with a voice of steel. I loved the photo exhibit.
The initiation of every single note is incredible! Oh my goodness, such a perfect technique!! Every note rings and a lot!
Breathtaking precision. How was it possible?
She was one of the first sopranos I heard and came to love
She is the one who made me love opera!
My uncle Dr. Ted Blair talked about hearing Galli Curci. I believe it was in Chicago, probably in the early 1930s. Its a thrill to hear her as my uncle probably did. Exquisite! Brava!
Yes she was big on the trill
Wow! Ensemble with flute!! That’s musicianship! ❤️❤️❤️
An incomparable timbre.
Grabación muy limpia casi no se oyen los rasguños propios de grabaciones antiguas, seguramente en discos de 78 rpm. Gracias Gral. Radames por dejarnos apreciar a una de las grandes sopranos del pasado.
Magnifica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meravigliosa......
WOW,WOW and WOW again.
❤Голос льется из источника чистой серебряной воды,отсвечивает необыкновенной красотой .Вечная память ❤...
I wonder what she sounded like in person. It sounds like a brilliant, smallish voice was very phonogenic. I wonder what it would have sounded like in the Auditorium Theater in Chicago where she was so popular. She sings such a beautiful trill in the cadenza, but skips all the written trills in the cabaletta. I remember reading that she developed a goiter that affected her intonation and ultimately ended her career.
Her voice not small for a leggero/coloratura
magnifique
Esta extraordinária cantora mais John Ford com o seu Delator de 1.935 e Depois do vendaval de l.952 marcaram minha alma. Isto é melhor do que qualquer jantar com mesa requintada e o melhor vinho do mundo!!!
Its too bad the sound quality is so bad. She was really good though...
considering the long time, a bow to recording and the extaordinary voice of this soprano.

*Joan Sutherland has left the group chat* 😋
Chris Cruz I’ve heard live broadcasts of Sutherland singing Lucia, Norma and Puritani. Maybe they were broadcast late in her career, but if those broadcasts were my first listen, yikes!
@@tobiasandrews3778 For a better reference of Joan's amazing voice, listen to The Art of The Prima Donna and her work with Handel. She sang the roles you mentioned way too long into her career. However, still an incredible singer worth getting familiar with.
Joan’s trills were much freer and more natural. More beautiful too, no question. Amelia sounds sharp and flat at times.
@@brunoantony3218i think It's due to the recording: the device couldn't catch all the overtones, It happens often with big voices (Tebaldi for example)
Did she sing with Tibbett?
Here is a discography of the recordings they made together. It says they were destroyed.

Nice photo of them singing together.
@@RadamesAida2Operalovers what a shame
Soon
So special for me and mine. First heard on 78s
Was that the high C? 4,18
Higher. Eb.
Cada dia descubro uma 'gostosura" dela. Obrigado Internet. Her Trill for me is a MASTER-PIECE!!!
If you like Amelita, you will pass to Heaven and she sings every Christmas. But if you don't like her, you go to Hell, where she sings all the other 364 days - Forever!!
Compare this to K Flagstad !
Très spectaculaire comme technique .Mais c'est une toute petite voix qui ne transmet aucune émotion .Et ne parlons pas de style : il n'y en a aucun .Je préfère encore Elvira de Hidalgo dans le genre !!
Absolutely oblivious of the dramatic situation, it sounds like a divertissement, but the voice....is still unmatched
