- Here's the video of Galli-Curci's unissued recording - Home, Sweet Home. Actually, this song is one of her most famous pieces, but the recording itself is not easy to hear. She recorded this in May 13, 1927 with orchestral accompaniment. But because of an unknown reason, this version has never been released. Nonetheless, it sounds great for me.
I attached a bonus track of the released one. Swish could be a little noisy. Enjoy!
I first heard Amelita Galli Curcis voice in a London record store. I could not keep the tears back. I did not know at the time that she was still alive. Whst would I not have given to be able to send her a bouquet of lillies
So beautiful, such a sweet voice. Brought me to tears. Thank you for sharing.
♥ unbeschreiblich schön. Danke.
All the imperfections of the recording give it a transcendental charm.
So beautiful! Thank you for sharing this precious gem. 🙏
My absolute favorite Song of all Time. 100% full ❤️
I got the tranquility from such a fabulous voice.
The Japanese anime movie, "Grave of the Fireflies", includes a Galli-Curci recording of Home, Sweet, Home.
Any latter-day sopranos or Britain's Got Talent aspirants ought to listen to this truly wonderful singer, they may soon realise just how far they've got to travel.
Incredible. That bell-like voice can trick me into thinking she is singing pure harmonics!
On the piano accompaniment version, that’s her husband (whom she frequently collaborated with); she was obviously Italian, but he was from Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Maybe that’s part of why they combine so transcendently on a song about home. I suspect they had - SHARED - some hard times that enabled to do it so touchingly, poignantly, with this level of heart.
Please play this song at my funeral...
"Setsuko never woke up" 🥲
Setsuko :')
You said it!😢😢😢😢😢😢
At a concert the audience CRAVED this song as an encore - and she had a 22 minutes standing ovation!
Thank you so much!! What I wouldn’t give to see a video of that!!! Where did you get that info, and you you have more details?
I assume you saw Grave of the Firefies?
"But that's not all, is it?. There's still something you forgot to remember... They've been waiting for you, Sophie..."
So sweet...
Thank you!

Setsuko.
this made me cry :( damn
😭
I suspect it wasn't released because it was in 12". The 10" was less expensive and was sufficiently long enough. However I prefer the more expansive (not expensive) 12" unreleased version.
Searching the lyrics I only find those of a band called Motley Crue, who have stolen the title.
Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home;
A charm from the skies seems to hallow us there,
Which seek thro' the world, is ne'er met elsewhere.
Home! Home!
Sweet, sweet home!
There's no place like home
There's no place like home!
@@spike_kulu Thank you.
