    There is a mistake in the weight of the art lens, the DG DN is 795g, you have the weight of the old HSM lens

  • @USGrant21st
    @USGrant21st 2 года назад +9

    You need to compare it to Tamron 17-28/2.8, which is much closer to this one.

    Out of all the videos on this lens, this is the best for actual examples of the imagery it can yield in a practical setting. Thanks!

    16-28 looks nice. Just ordered an a7IV and every time I think I made the wrong decision and should have waited for the upcoming Canon R7, Sigma and/or Tamron release a new E mount lens and make me realize it was the right decision. 3rd party RF lenses are pretty much non existent while there are tons for the E mount.

    • @mbvglider
      @mbvglider 2 года назад +3

      I have an a7 IV and honestly, I came from RF mount, and I still preferred my Canon R6 for shooting strictly stills, and I think the first-party RF lenses are wonderful, and I miss shooting with some of them. However, sometimes I just stop thinking about all the other cameras out there and just shoot with the a7 IV, and I'm so impressed that a midrange camera is basically capable of everything, and it is so good at stills and also video, and like you said, there are tons of fun third-party lenses, too. I think it's a great camera, but it's probably hard to get excited about it because it's not the best camera for any one thing. However, it puts in at least a B+ performance in every category, and that in itself is a great feature. I feel like the a7 IV is one of those cameras that even if you get another camera that is better for one specific thing, you'll still keep it around because it'll still be competitive at everything else. Plus, I lied about it not being the best at anything. I actually think it has the best control scheme of any mirrorless camera out there. The combination of the dedicated video/still dial and the four programmable dials is simply stellar. That's not present in any other full-frame camera to date, not even the A1, and I think it's legitimately the best control scheme that anyone has ever come up with.

      I’ve been using the a7iii for 2+ years and recently have been through 2 a7iv’s (both have front focus issues even with the firmware upgrade). I have lots of investment in E lenses but would love to move to the R5. Yes - it’s the RF lens price and selection still holding me back. I’m actually going back to the a7iii after comparing images from over 20 shoots with the a7iv; I have many more sharp keepers with the a7iii. BTW, DXO has publicly acknowledged that the a7iv front focus issues aren’t resolved yet.

      Canon R7 is APS-C with no lenses. If you like APS-C camera, than buy a Sony A6600 with Viltrox 23mm / 33mm / 56mm 1.4. I have a A7R4 with LA-EA5 and use it with old Minolta AF lenses, amazing lenses for no money.

    • @chuck7729
      @chuck7729 Год назад +1

      @@mbvglider I have the Canon R6 and I tell you that without RF lenses (which cost a lot), you don't get the most out of it. For example on continuous focus (video) to have it silent, you need expensive RF lenses, both 35 and 85 RF (cheap), they don't work well at all.
      With A74 both 35 and 85 1.8 (cheap), they go great!
      I will switch to A74 shortly.

    Thanks for the review. I've been debating between these two lenses. I really would like the additional wider angle of the 14 to 24 but the 16 to 28 is so appealing with its price point and weight and it being longer on the zoom end

    I was about to buy the 14-24 lens. The price was holding me back from making the purchase. The 16-28 lens checks all my boxes and is so much cheaper. I think that I will wait a couple of months to see if some one who buys it at launch will sell theirs because they don't use it to maybe get it even cheaper.

    I need a Tamron 15-28mm in my life. Something lightweight, weather sealed, and creamy bokeh Tamron is known for. That would be the perfect wide angle lens. In the meantime, think I'm sticking with my Sigma 14-24mm despite the weight.

      I plan to get A7RV with Tamron 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 (crop 2X to 800mm) and pair a 14mm F1.8 as ultrawide and everyday lens which can crop to 28mm F1.8 low light F3.6 DOF for that, is it good choice? Or better go with Loawa 10-18 manual, Sony 12-24 F4, Sigma 14-24 F2.8, Sony 16-35 F4 PZ or Tamron 17-50? Is the Power Zoom essential or any of these even the fix lens can do dolly zoom just fine? And can I set profile for each lens so the results by the golden look Tamron lenses and cooler look Sony lenses will look consistent? If want stabilisation in addition to the IBIS, there will be crop too, the 14mm better?

      @CristoforoBonissone Hi, I noticed that he's not consistent with his reviews when it comes to taking the time to go through all the apertures. Sometimes, he'll go from Wide open and skip the rest of the apertures up until the last one, which is at the point of diffraction. I find that a bit annoying when I'm trying to compare lenses that he's reviewed. I also noticed that he recently reuploaded the Pergear 14mm MKII review that he had uploaded weeks ago, stating that it needed to be edited. He also tends to skip coma performance sometimes.
