You'll get used to it! The straighter your wheel the more you can apply. Think of it the opposite to your wheel or controller, full lock 0 traction through to straight wheel 100% traction. And test shifting early if it helps improve your lap time

    Turning.
If you are braking then turn slowly.
If no braking is required for the turn you can turn the wheel fast.
You can dab the brakes mid turn to transfer weight to the front to pull the front of the car into the apex.
Using a late apex will give you better straight line speed.
When racing with others the racing line isn't the fastest way.
You will achieve a faster race time if you let the cars through that have way more pace than you and using them to improve your lap times rather than losing time defending

    Another Great in-depth guide.....Nice one !!
One quick tip I'd like to add / pass-on is regarding your Steering.....
For a few years, before I bought and upgraded my set-up to a Wheel and Pedals bolted to a proper Racing Rig and Seat, I used to play using a controller and I developed a little technique that helped to give me a LOT more control round corners and generally be much smoother.
When you need / want to have more control, simply push and hold Up ^ on your steering joystick then roll the joystick around to the left or right, as though you're using a wheel.....This allows you to add the smallest of change to your steering, and hold it throughout a turn etc, a LOT easier than any other way when playing with a controller.
I hope I've described it good enough for everyone to understand and I hope my little technique helps improve your lap times and enjoyment of the game.
    Keep On Racing People !!

Anyway, happy to hear it's improved your gameplay.....Enjoy !!

There's 25% more braking power on tap by not downshifting... until your breaking momentum slows, then its several quick down shifts to match the exit rpm of the corner. Also, while your braking, choose a breaking marker that allows your car to carry into the corner and to the apex, as doing so greatly improves front grip thru high speed corners.. like those at Monza and Zandvoort.

In F123, if you have ABS on, you can potentially run 50% BB without fear of locking the rear, which can improve your rotation and allow you to get on the power earlier if you do it right. Not a fan of that trick though.

I've been playing racing sims for a few years now and I just learned that downshifting WHILE braking really helps to slow down the car and shorten brake distances. Before I was downshifting after braking and couldn't figure out why other racers were able to brake so much better than me. My times have improved by multiple seconds in every racing game I play now.

    • @AdamL_18

some might disagree with that technique, but you should try overlapping gas and brake. This help me avoid locking my break up, also it can help avoiding to much nosediving which can cause understear. even if you have a good break Bias, this technique help slowing down the transition of the load transfer and therefore improve stabillity. (it can take alot of practice to get it good and can be detrimental if not done properly)

@@AdamL_18well no I’m pretty sure almost everyone agrees with engine breaking. Since it does indeed slow down the car more while producing more rotation into the corner. You’ll see every single f1 driver taking advantage of engine breaking through the gears on quali and push laps. Just a little iffy when youre trying to lessen degradation since the increased rotation does cook the rear tires.

A tip for improving really fast and good is to push the car over the limits and is hard to drive faster, you can start braking way later than you thought you could and get to 100% throttle faster than you thought you can and of course you learn really good car control.

@F1SimStreams I'm a near perfect racer similar to Verstappen on this game. I'm just offering my feedback. I haven't even watched the video really but I don't need help for me its all about practice and repetition. That's how I got faster. I started to pick out braking points and not having to look at where my braking points are after a while just have a feel for the car and that's how you become faster when the car is just an extension of yourself. I don't mind offering my own advice though it won't work for everybody but for me its the best method

disagree that ABS is slower. It allows you to perfectly trailbreak into every corner by simply standing on the break and letting the system modulate the pressure for you and never lock up. But I like having to adjust the car through small slides and lockups so I still turn it off.

Turn off the racing line. Use the meter boards. You can pretty much slow down from a high speed into a shican by braking before the 100m board, maybe the longest straights require braking a moment before that. Most turns brake at the 50 meter board. Tweak it. Sometimes before the meter board, sometimes after.
I dislike the racing line and gamer tags, stealing prime view. Use the map to know which turn is next before you master it all. Also there is a racing line on track its a dry line. Goodluck all.

I think abs is so op that only esport drivers can really take profit from driving without abs to use „the full Potential“ from the brakes.
The limit with abs is way to strong and and as a normal driver (AI 105) its too difficult to be faster without abs… more risk and nearly no reward

The main thing i do and will tell people though because its very difficult to do and i dont think many will figure it out. The reason im top 1% in the world currently in F1 games for several years is I always brake in a straight line but i take a late apex and i will accelerate out of a corner as fast as possible which does risk a spin out BUT it also shaves several hundreths off your lap time. Oh yeah and as weird as it sounds in some corners ill actually brake in a straight line whilst turning into the corner at the same time. A good example of this is Bahrain T10 at the downhill heavy braking hairpin
