    The stunning amount of seperate parts, which each have their specific metal composition , dimensions, surface treatment... is unknown to the outsider.
    The outsider only asks: when does it fly?
    Very well done.

    Warms my heart to see the old bird being restored. To the young fellow on the team, pay close attention to the old farts. What they can teach you will pay dividends down the road.

    Looks awesome gents! She's got hydraulics! NICE! Can't wait to see her on stand on her own under full hydraulics. Your team is doing a great job, and yes, one step at a time, every milestone inches her closer along. KUTGW!

    Love it! Reminds me of a wartime news film video of a 'refurbishment' factory where Spitfires went when damaged or needed a full overhaul. The commentator said similar things about panel fitting. An airframe went through the process, but! didn't get it's original screw on panels (unique to each aircraft as they were predominantly hand made) which would have been hand 'adjusted'. Great job guys!.

    Awesome to see any Typhoon or Tempest fly. When this one does, I believe it will be the only one?
    I would so much like to see one of the Napier Saber powered aircraft fly again, and I know there is a shop in Canada working in that direction. I can't imagine though how a Saber can be made flyable again. Such a complex engine that has been out of use for so long...

      Doesn't this one have a Bristol Centaurus radial?

    • @johnshaft5613
      @johnshaft5613 Год назад

      @@532bluepeter1 I assume it does. I know there is at least one Centaurus powered Sea Fury that is still flying. But, the vast majority of flying Sea Furies have been re-engined with US made radials.

    • @532bluepeter1
      @532bluepeter1 Год назад

      @@johnshaft5613 In the video the exausts of a centaurus can be seen. Sabres had a horizontal linear exhaust array. The Centaurus's were vertically aligned at the base of the cowling.

    • @johnshaft5613
      @johnshaft5613 Год назад

      @@532bluepeter1 I guess I wasn't clear. I know this airplane is Centaurus powered, all Tempest IIs were...
      I was just saying that I would also like to see a Sabre powered Tempest V or VI fly someday.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Radials don’t turn into ground targets as effectively as V block engines, leaving the tempest to race for high altitude which it didn’t have the prop for, of course if you got caught on the way up or down in the easily out turned Tempest2 well you were a valued member of the squadron

    • @anthonywilson4873

      The Typhoon was the ground attack specialist with a cruiser broadside punch. (8 rockets) and guns bombs etc. The Tempest was the fighter that Hawker was originally aiming for with a better wing form and better performance at altitude. It could take on easily a 109 or 190. The ME 262 pilots said it was their most deadly opponent flying at 440 mph with kill ratio in air to air combat of 8 to 1. Very manoeverable and well armed with 20mm Cannons.. As the Typhoon and Tempest where such heavy hitters at low level with Rockets Bombs and Cannons, (The Rockets where the equivalent of a cruisers broadside), they where extensively used at low level and suffered a lot of casualties from ground fire. Have a look at this site has a lot more info.

    I expect the restorers will use modern materials and methods, to make sure the Plane is as original as possible, while applying the aforementioned. One major issue is, of course, this magnificant planes historic weaknesses, e.g the unique engines foibles, etc, being improved on ?

    • @lenhjalmarson
      @lenhjalmarson 9 месяцев назад

      An early decision was made to replace the original Bristol Centaurus engine with a R2800 CA-3 from a Canadair CL-215. This was done due to the questionable reliability of the original Centaurus engine. The decision to replace the original engine was not taken lightly, however the restoration team wanted to prioritize the aircraft’s airworthiness and safety.
