I thought he was singing live to a pre-recorded version of the song. But no, at 4:20 you see the entire band with a piano player, organist (I think) and tambourine player! These are real musicians, a lead singer (Larry Lee) with a beautiful voice who can keep perfect time, no autotune, just REAL TALENT!!! Thanks for finding this gem! You'll never see this today!
You can easily tell there is no pre-recorded studio track playing because the studio album version had his voice doubled (like two singers together). Here it's a solid SINGLE voice.
I'm betting there are very few of us that still remember these guys. They only had about 3 songs that got any continuous play and Jackie Blue was likely their most well known. Great southern rock sound in the vein of Skynard
I haves loved this song since the 1970s when I was kid, but thought the recorded vocals were two women! 😂 I found out via RUclips footage a yr or two ago that the vocalist is a man!
He's most recently singing in a band called BEYOND REACH. They have some videos here on RUclips. Look up a song from them called "Younger Years".- He's in the one in the center with white hair and he still sounds the same. @@andreacheney3593
