- I one morning had water in the footwell of my Renault Grand scenic mk.lll.
This video is to show how I drained it. and I hope this can help other people out as well
Un edited, sorry.
Very useful video, have just done this on my 2012 Scenic, now drains fine both sides. Thanks for putting this on RUclips.
You are welcome. it is a shock to me, that this video is so usefull. that it has more than 50.000 views. It is a flawed design!
Thanks for this. Saved us a garage bill. It was so satisfying when the water poured out underneath. Now to dry out the car (I'm just happy it happened in the summer for us, drying it out in the winter would be even more of a pain).
happy to have helped you.
Hej jeg har det samme problem er det noget du kan hjælpe med ?
Thanks Jesper, carried out this fix on my 12 Grand Scenic today as both my storage compartments in the driver's and passenger's foot well were both full of water. Also my vents were making a strange whistling sound and my fan control was starting to play up. I am confident that this will fix all of these problems. Thanks again. :)
Thanks for this, sorted mine by reaching in behind the wheel arch to clear the drainage hole (probably a more short term/amateur approach) but this video was still helpful in understanding the problem.
Thanks to you I will undertake this job tomorrow morning with more confidence. Clearly a design fault, but otherwise very happy with my Scenic!
Loved the car, though just changed to a new Ford S-Max. Loved the Scenic, but yeah, that is a major design flaw!
Thanks Jesper!! Very helpful! I just did it in my car thanks to you.
Glad it helped you!
Thx very much you helped me a lot with this video. Regards Philippe
Happy to hear.
I used a fibreglass rod from a kite - slender & flexible. Don’t forget to run lots of water through before replacing everything to ensure all the gunk is gone.
Thanks so match
Thanks really useful for the Grand scenic mk 3
Thank you have this Problem the second time now. Fist time the Renault fix it but now I am out of guarantee and need to do it myself.
Paul Epp it is insane design tbh.
Jesper Leonhardt Svensson it is. And everyone had this problem with an Renault. Never happens to me with German cars.
Very useful information. Thank you for this video.
Ty this worked for me Easy fix great video 👍
Did the same to a friends scenic 3, crazy that in 2018 we still have concerns like this. Not many faults however, I see you also have the 1,6dci it's nice to drive ;) mine is a 2011 model and didn't need to do this job, all was pretty clean.
forgot to respond to this one, yes I have the 1,6 DCI optimised to 169HP and tourge 390 if I remember correct.
Thank you man you saved me a bill
Thank you. Really useful video! 👍🏼
Good video, helped me do it myself.
Nice one mate. This is a really good video. Thank you.
Thanks.
tak Jesper det problem har jeg. Nu er det let at løse.
Glæder mig at det hjælper.
Thank you. This worked for me.
Thank you very much, you helped me help a friend!
Your welcome. It is insane system.
Tak, havde samme problem med min megane og det virkede super, så nu kan jeg køre tørskoet igen :)
Great thank you. I am sure it will happen to me, my wiper motors were replaced in garage. The plastic strip I can see at bottom of windshield is loose and rubber not making a seal. How is that connected back? sorry but I see you have yours off
Thanks a lot! I did this yesterday. But after, how do you align the wiper arms, bc i messed it up and one wiper flew away hahah
You would think by now Renault would have come up with a solution for this, because this issue has been happening since 2003!
Be very careful with those wiper motors, as they are around £700 from Renault, and there are no aftermarket alternatives!
Hi Jesper, Great video. I've just completed this job following your approach. Success! Scuttle drains now clear on both sides. Thanks. However, I'm wondering if rear footwell dried out completely? The insulation below the carpet is absolutely soaking. Do you think that the blocked scuttle drain was causing this problem?
Cheers
On my car, i had around 3 to 4 centimeter og water. And I removed the seats, put elektrical heater in the car, plus a machine to remove water from the air. Had them running for days. But it did the job.
@@Sveske06 Thank you for replying. The water issue sounded pretty serious with your car. Glad that you could sort it. Cheers
I have same problem mine has filled thestorage tray in passenger floor but bone dry all around . Yet still got none working rear windows and handbrake issue. Hoping it can all be cured in one go.
keeping my fingers crossed
Thanks for this video.
Ivan Iliev you are welcome.
Sorted the car out in an hour on my own and no more water inside.
Great. This error by Renault is so stupid.
God video 👍👍
Any other concerns? Egr flap for example, noisy engine cold start ? Etc...
Sidder der kun et drænhul? Eller sidder der i den anden side os? Nemlig opdaget vand i førersiden på min scenic 3 igår.
begge sider :-( husk at rens dem begge!!
@@Sveske06 tusind tak for svar👍👍👍
@@martinmadsen6862 bare ok, sig til hvis du har nogle spørgsmål til det.
@@Sveske06 takker
Hi have you ever replaced the wiper motors? Do you know if I would need to disconnect the battery to do so?
Thank you for this video it helped me
No I haven't. But no you do not need to dismount the battery.
No,just change moters and put the wiper in sequence
Did you have any elecrical problems later: electronic handbrake, airbag, corroded connections?
No water problems. But I used a dehumidifier for 3 days. And an air heater at the same time
FOOT well not food
Sorry lol
Had the same issue and fixed it by your advice. Thank you very much!! Did you recognize if there are the same plugs in the wheel housing preventing the water to flow freely like in the previous Grand Scenic (see here: ruclips.net/video/x4gf3yG_YXk/видео.html)? It seems that dirt stucks because these plugs are damming the water so it can't flush away.
You are correct, there are some walves. And it is for your security. If they was not there, you could risk sucking exhaust fumes into the cabin.
I am glad it helped you.
I am still surprised how many people this video has reached. My thought was perhaps 10 would find it lol. ;-)
