At first, I thought, not much difference. But, with the French fleet and Algeria, yes, you're right, France could have remained in the war, and made a big contribution to the Allied effort, especially in North Africa, and later, in Italy. OK, I think the Balkans is a stretch, but, maybe. It is at least plausible.
U don’t realise that france had a larger navy than uk and usa before ww2…if france had won the battle of france…the war would have been completelyyyy different lol…
I do think WW2 would have been shorter but don't you think France would have been more economically devasted with German terror? Also with France a larger contributor to the war effort I think they would have asked for more payment to Germany and would have annexed Saarbrücken for the coal at least.
At some point, one of these two has to accept that annexing regions from the other was only going to fuel the cycle of hostility and distrust that started way back in 1871. Increased reparations, maybe, but it's perhaps best for the European continent that France doesn't get any German land out of this.
Also, how would Colonialism be made illegal by the UN, when France, and Britain both, have the ability to veto any proposal? France would be more than strong enough economically to be able to take any form of sanctions that come their way.
Well românia would join alies instead of axis and would unite with all territory lost in 1940 ,also Hungary will not be allowed to keep parts of czecoslovakia
I know one thing. If France defeated Germany in WW2 my grandfather wouldn’t have gone to Europe. He would have gone to fight in the Pacific. Hopefully that part of the war would have been finished off a lot sooner.
I know my great-grandfather would have still been in the Italian landings, especially since us and France would have been committed to that before the US joined.
I think that in this scenario germany would be offered köningsburg as they were in our world however they rejected it in our timeline as they were focused on re integrating east germany so they would accept it in this timeline and would also become europes strongest economy and have the potential to be strongest european countey militarily and would be ahead of Japan in terms of economic power.
I believe that in this scenario, if the Germans really punished France as you said, France would take at least small parts of the Rhineland, at the very least the Saarland.

Wasn't Petain a fascist? He was president of Vichy France during Nazi ocupation. I don't see him as the leader of Free France, I think you meant Charles de Gaule.
I wouldn't say he was a fascist, the man was a war hero from WW1, he simply thought that France had lost so much in WW1 that following the German invasion in WW2, continuing the war and fighting to the last man was pointless (considering how things looked in 1940, that wasn't an unreasonable assessment) He was president of France before Vichy, he was deputy before the invasion but once they were invaded Reynaud refused to hold peace talks and resigned, thus Petain took over the presidency. In this timeline all the changes is that he believes they can keep fighting, in this case taking up Reynaud's proposal of fleeing to Algeria in order to keep fighting. At the time de Gaulle was just a general, he didn't have the political clout to become France's leader without France surrendering, which allowed him to become the brave Frenchman who stood up to the Germans.
Silesia and Pomerania, along with parts of Danzing and the entirety of east prussia(modern day Kaliningrad) used to be ethnically german before the soviets deported them all after WW2.
Ethnically German or not, the USSR would not tolerate a postwar Germany having such a close coastline to them. I can understand keeping Silesia, but keeping Pomerania and anything east of that is unrealistic.
@@gengarzilla1685 The USSR has almost no cards to play in this timeline, they didn't even reach Germany before the Allies. With a Strong French Army, and with WW2 ending sooner, Britain would also have a much stronger Military. Combine that with American Industrial capacity, and the Soviets would stand no chance if a war broke out. Even less so, if the Allies decided to remilitarize Germany as a weapon against the Soviets, which could happen potentially. Another thing to consider, the allies wouldn't bomb Germany anywhere near as heavily, as they only did so in our timeline, to scare the Soviets. As if they were willing to decimate the Germans, what would they be willing to do to Communists?
@@gengarzilla1685 Britain would also commit to it's Empire in this Timeline, if only to spite the French, which would grant them more power both Militarily, and Economically.
