Panoramic view is nice. Took a little getting used to though. I always wonder why the change? But this split screen w/you on top works, leaving the upper left for outside and/or stats to review. Despite all the talk about the joy of rowing your own, I feel Acura should come out with an auto next year. It would still work fine.

The griping over the location of reverse is absurd. I street parked my 6MT VW Golf for seven years (parallel parking) on hills in Tacoma, WA, and not once did it ever occur to me think that reverse should be anywhere other than immediately next to 1st, the gear that I'm probably going in and out of when parking. That thing looks amazing. I just can't ever see buying ANY vehicle without a spare tire. I will never understand that theory how an inflator can replace even a temp spare.
i have been driving for 15 years and only had to use the spare tire once, its just extra weight otherwise. I can see why its not really necessary unless you live in the middle of nowhere
As someone who has tracked his 2.4l TLX w/ the 8spd DCT, I don't know if it could stand up to the torque of the K20C1 or meet the fun mission w/ its reliance on a torque converter (like a true auto) for 1st & 2nd gears. The TLX has thrown trans oil cooling warnings after a handful of laps and would be an Achilles heel during a track day or Time Trials with their Integra Type S.
Good Car the Problem is that the Dealers Will overpriced Maybe 20k More , and the Financial part will be a Nightmare with the interest on 7% , Good Luck with that 😢
For the new format, I don't think the forward facing camera adds much. OR perhaps cut to that dual view at like @15:20. When you're talking about the actual dynamics. Talking about other cars in the segment? Just stick with the cabin cam. Just my opinion. Love the videos.
Great review! Stoked it only comes in stick and all wheel drive would be cool but it’s not a huge deal. I also really don’t like the three way split screen at all! Way too busy
You’ll be able to pick these up at a discount in 6 months. 52k fora compact car that’s near luxury will be a tough sell. Car prices in general are dropping
At $50+k I think I'd rather spend an extra $5k to get a base TLX Type-S that comes with AWD and a twin turbo v6. Sure you get better fuel mileage but if you are looking for performance than the TLX Type-S is the way to go when its only $5k more.
It would be quite interesting to see what kind of car this could be with a dual clutch and AWD. Acura did do the right thing by keeping it a 6sp manual and FWD but outfitted with the former, this could be a real rocket ship! However, I wonder if the so-called “fun factor” of having a MT is what the overall car market really wants. There will of course always be driving enthusiasts who prefer manuals but on the street, the competition isn’t pining over who has a car with the greatest involvement factor when stopped at a light. It’s always, without fail, about straight line performance and all-out power - who’s the quickest/fastest. From what I know, there is no “medal” for the best driver engagement.
Nice review as always, Alex! This car seems excellent, but there are a few glaring omissions in a car in this class like a power passenger seat even if would you be only two way. Also, a memory driver seat and ventilated seats should be standard. Lastly, I think there should be an automatic option.
Great review Alex. 👍👍 Nice they have a liftback, but I'd buy one if they made a station wagon. Just amazing how much hp & torque can be got from four cylinders without overstressing the engine. There will probably be an EV version in a few years that will blow away this ICE model. For 90% of the public front wheel drive is A-OK. If I lived in the snow belt this would have to be a no-snow time of the year car.
Better Civic Type R is stretching it a bit. Most folks will like the hardcore nature of the Type R I'd wager that the Typer R is faster and more fun on the Track as well.
Why? Same engine, same transmission, same suspension other than the presets, 95% same exhaust, except that the Type S sounds better. I don't know why it would be faster.
I like the Integra a lot, but I feel like Acura missed out on not including a sunroof on the Type R version. Sports variants back in the 80s and 90s always included a sunroof because they were meant to be driven on the road and not track (see original M3, Civic Si, etc.). Even the most recent Focus RS and Golf R offer/ed sunroofs because they understand that these are meant for people who want to drive back roads with their windows open listening to the engine and enjoying the wind. Honda has lost the message on the Civic Type R and I believe it is lost even more on their luxury version of the car when it is the only Acura without a sunroof.
None of the Type Rs have ever had a moonroof - it raises the center of gravity, adds weight and reduces chassis rigidity. Honda owners care about performance and the Acura Integra Type R had OPTIONAL air conditioning and OPTIONAL radio. As you could order them without to lighten the car You clearly don't know Hondas or their owners. The mid grade Integra GSR had a moonroof as did the Si Civic. Both the Civic and Integra Rs remove luxuries and even offer base model Rs with fewer features to remove weight/cost aka Club racer versions with steel wheels and cheap seats so race teams can add their own gear.
@@TheFK8Life as a longtime U.S. Honda owner (original 1st gen Honda Accord hatchback, CRX Si, refreshed CRX Si, Del Sol, and Acura TSX Wagon) I do know what the owners want. Most Type R Hondas did not come stateside. US owners have traditionally wanted the extra luxury. You make a good point regarding the current Honda Type R's track focus and the fact that the old Type R Integra did not have a sunroof. However, Acura is their luxury brand and there should be a sunroof and you will find that complaint all over Integra forums and other websites.
@@WolfyTime I don't care about their complaints - Acura is only going to make 400 of these a month - the majority of people running their mouth won't own one. Anyone who buys this car has the money to add a simple moonroof. This is a softer Type R for street use. Slightly better daily but still geared towards a Honda tuner like me. My FK8 is making 640hp and I'm throwing a ported head this week to make over 700hp on a factory Honda engine with stock cams/bottom end. This car is for guys like me - it's not for slow guys who want to keep it stock and slow. My FK8 doesn't have a moonroof and I don't want it- they end up leaking anyway lol replace the seals, slider motor etc just another headache - dead weight. This is probably the last ICE manual Integra offered - piece of history really. The self driving automatic everything with massage seats will come soon enough - I'd rather be actually driving and enjoying the car vs just letting the computer drive me home at the speed limit. Buy a tesla for that - soulless appliance for boring people who don't enjoy actually ripping their own gears.
@@TheFK8Life anybody who buys this car doesn't have money to deal with the issues you run into when modifying the car to have a sunroof. A sunroof is a long-standing standard item for old school fast versions of street cars because they are viewed as back road cars. The M3 has always had it (not CSL), Focus RS did, and Golf R. I certainly think Honda is concerned by what tuners want, but I imagine they want to sell their whole stock which requires more than just the tuner community. Your current project does sound pretty cool though.
@@WolfyTime The msrp of my car was 39k and I paid 52k - they were asking 60k for mine and 75k for the LE version Wheels and tires are easily 3 to 4k depending on brands. Basic bolt-ons are 4k - larger drop in turbo is 2500 to 2800 - fuel system is another 5000 for direct injection only fuel supply. Hell some guys are spending 3k on valved exhaust systems and 5k for titanium exhausts A moonroof is cheap if anyone really wants one. The Supra? No moonroof The new Z? No moonroof Cayman? No moonroof Emira? No moonroof People spending 95k+ for a 4cyl Cayman don't get a moonroof? A luxury performance car without a moonroof? If was just an appliance a moonroof would be offered like it is on the lower models of the Civic and Integra .....the S/R models are about performance so the enthusiasts who are in that market - especially long time Honda racers like myself....no moonroof is a plus. I can buy anything I want and chose the R - if this one doesn't get a built motor 900+hp my FL5 civic will - keep my FK8 as a daily/street car and build the FL5 to 1000+hp for half mile/roll races. These cars will be electric Hybrids the next go around as Honda electrifys the lineup and I have no interest in EVs ....if it doesn't have a manual trans from Honda I probably get myself a pdk or dct car from another brand. I had considered the GT4RS Porsche but 180k msrp plus 100k markup just felt silly - now my R will embarass one easily 😆 The money I saved buying an R over other track car options has allowed me to play with it and push its limits with zero regrets. 3100lbs - 700+hp and room for 4 ....very practical family car for me 😆
2 big problems with the Type-S. #1 they removed too many luxury features (memory seats, sunroof, back seat, etc) to justify $52K. #2 it's going to be cross shopped with the Civic Type R, Golf R, GR Corolla, WRX, etc. The customer that can afford $52K is either looking for something much more luxurious or much more sporty (Supra, Nissan Z, etc).
I paid 52k for my 2021 R - it has 640hp now and soon to be 700+hp Guys like me have the money for this car and Type Rs have sold for 75k+ which means I'm not alone. This isn't for the random pleeb who will keep it stock and putt putt around town in his automatic coffin with a badge on it. They are making around 400 of these a month and all of them will sell at msrp or well above. This chassis/motor combo can easily make 1000hp+ and be a riot - if you know, you know.
I don't think that this car competes with the Supra or Nissan Z. Front wheel drive and 4-seats make the Type S more practical. I don't think I would trust a rear wheel drive vehicle for winter driving.
I can’t comment on whether Acura made a mistake in not offering an all wheel drive option but I can say that I would be buying this car if it was AWD. Not for the driving dynamics but because I need it in the winter. I’m not a fan of the electronic parking brake. It should be a handle you pull up.
torn between this and the Audi RS3 which I know you loved. The white ITS with Bronze wheels and few other bits that I like puts it at 55k vs the RS3 I priced out at 65k . hmmm Addtional thoughts assuming can place an order for either one and obtain at MSRP with no mark up? thx Great review
@@TheFK8Life Okay, you say that until the car is discontinued because they couldn’t sell any. Where as an automatic helps sell more and would keep it around.
Pain points: lack of sound insulation, not-so-efficient mpg figures, crazy thin tire walls… How on earth can dealer mark up this thing? Sell it more than TLX Type S lol?
this is a type R for the older crowd. simple as that. I'm still trying to get over the fact that an Integra is a four door... I grew up with the original Integra...
Acura went the right way bc if they had the awd dual clutch it would lose the PURE feel. Thank heavens there is no moonroof! Also kudos for not slapping on plastic whell fenders. I'd buy one at MSRP, but every dealership I spoke to has 20k USD Markup!
Did you inquire on May 11 or shortly thereafter? I did and I'm wondering if that was the reason that I'm getting it for MSRP.
@@mikemccormick6128 I did it last week.I am in California
Alex if you put a black microfiber on the windshield the heads up display will show up real clear
I like the new format. It kept more engaged.
Bought one of these instead of waiting 2.5 years for the RS3 and the extra $15k the RS3 was going to cost
2.5 years and $15k--for real??? Incredible. Bought ITS too.
At minute 18 (paraphrasing) “the Type S has more room in case you want to take your friends on a windy road to the winery… and once you drop them off you can have some fun…” I hope you were DD for the day. 🤣
During the drive I think the POV should be bigger, possibly full screen with the Go Pro footage of Alex in a smaller picture-in-picture window.
I agree
The griping over the location of reverse is absurd. I street parked my 6MT VW Golf for seven years (parallel parking) on hills in Tacoma, WA, and not once did it ever occur to me think that reverse should be anywhere other than immediately next to 1st, the gear that I'm probably going in and out of when parking. You make an easy U-shape with your hand.
Integra looks very nice and if you only want a manual, it's the one for you. I would struggle justifying buying this over a much faster BMW 340I or 240I for my garage. I bought exclusively manual Hondas when I was younger, now that I'm older and have to drive in stop and go every day and the automatics are brilliant these days, I would stick with a brilliant auto over manual.
@11:30 1st and foremost. Great review.. I have watched Thousands of hrs of reviews and follow a ton of channels. You got a good one. 🎉
Just one critique,
(Take it for what it is) ....
When using descriptive words to describe something like a glovebox, using words like small.. need to be used with numbers or a relation to an object we all use, because Shaq and WeeMan & You and I are all different sizes. Some of us are long legged with short bodies amd vice versa.. so leg room vs height is very relative. Just some word for thought. You Got a NEW SUB🎉.,
Keep Up The Awesomeness!!❤❤
I like the layout. With the little info box. Great!!
That thing looks amazing. I just can't ever see buying ANY vehicle without a spare tire. I will never understand that theory how an inflator can replace even a temp spare.
Hopefully, I will never find out.
i have been driving for 15 years and only had to use the spare tire once, its just extra weight otherwise. I can see why its not really necessary unless you live in the middle of nowhere
Alex, Great review overall as always in depth
As someone who has tracked his 2.4l TLX w/ the 8spd DCT, I don't know if it could stand up to the torque of the K20C1 or meet the fun mission w/ its reliance on a torque converter (like a true auto) for 1st & 2nd gears. The TLX has thrown trans oil cooling warnings after a handful of laps and would be an Achilles heel during a track day or Time Trials with their Integra Type S.
Do you have any basic mods on the TLX? I have the same car
@@AnthonyWreckz None other than 18"x8" ET43 OZ wheels and Michelin Pilot 4S tires...and 20+ years of club racing experience.
And as far as the torque converter goes, it's just painful with a capital "P" trying to dig out of slow corners while you wait for it to lock up.
If you think this is disappointing you can do so much worse
The integra looks very promising and Acura is really stepping up their game
until you see the mark up price at your local dealership.
@@potatochobit yeah but I’m sure just about every other car will be marked up too
@@potatochobit That's why I got in on the pre-sale.
You’ll be able to pick these up at a discount in 6 months. 52k fora compact car that’s near luxury will be a tough sell. Car prices in general are dropping
I'd take a CT4V for quicker times for the price!
Hell, it BETTER be for 8k more!
it's priced at $58,328 here in Canada and we get fewer color combinations. Criminal.
76000 in California after dealer markup
Insane
At $50+k I think I'd rather spend an extra $5k to get a base TLX Type-S that comes with AWD and a twin turbo v6. Sure you get better fuel mileage but if you are looking for performance than the TLX Type-S is the way to go when its only $5k more.
Absolutely, not to mention a much nicer interior with more luxuries.
Twin scroll single turbo on the TLX-S. Not a twin turbo.
@@JPZ89
You should probably update your info. It's a twin turbo v6.
@@99-Zulu it's a single turbo, "twin scroll" not twin turbo...
@@AnthonyWreckz
My mistake. You guys are right. It is a twin scroll, single turbo v6. That's my bad and I apologize for it.
No sunroof, no heated steering wheel, no memory seats, no cooled seats, manual passenger seat, no +R gauge layout for $53k? No thanks.
wish it has a doughnut spare tire at least...so this is riding on ran flat tires i presume. SHAWD would have been a nice option
Nice review as always, Alex! This car seems excellent, but there are a few glaring omissions in a car in this class like a power passenger seat even if would you be only two way. Also, a memory driver seat and ventilated seats should be standard. Lastly, I think there should be an automatic option.
Should just go for the tlx type s if you're looking for more feature content
Great review Alex. 👍👍 Nice they have a liftback, but I'd buy one if they made a station wagon. Just amazing how much hp & torque can be got from four cylinders without overstressing the engine. There will probably be an EV version in a few years that will blow away this ICE model. For 90% of the public front wheel drive is A-OK. If I lived in the snow belt this would have to be a no-snow time of the year car.
Better Civic Type R is stretching it a bit.
Most folks will like the hardcore nature of the Type R
I'd wager that the Typer R is faster and more fun on the Track as well.
Why? Same engine, same transmission, same suspension other than the presets, 95% same exhaust, except that the Type S sounds better. I don't know why it would be faster.
It's been tested on the track, and I do believe the numbers pretty much mirror each other. One wasn't out performed by the other per se.
I just realized that Acura logo looks like the Star Fleet logo from Star Trek.
If it also come with LogR app in the infotainment to record track record, it will be perfect FL5 clone, good video and 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I like the Integra a lot, but I feel like Acura missed out on not including a sunroof on the Type R version.
As you could order them without to lighten the car
You clearly don't know Hondas or their owners.
@@WolfyTime The msrp of my car was 39k and I paid 52k - they were asking 60k for mine and 75k for the LE version
Wheels and tires are easily 3 to 4k depending on brands. Basic bolt-ons are 4k - larger drop in turbo is 2500 to 2800 - fuel system is another 5000 for direct injection only fuel supply. Hell some guys are spending 3k on valved exhaust systems and 5k for titanium exhausts
A moonroof is cheap if anyone really wants one.
The Supra? No moonroof
The new Z? No moonroof
Cayman? No moonroof
Emira? No moonroof
People spending 95k+ for a 4cyl Cayman don't get a moonroof?
I had considered the GT4RS Porsche but 180k msrp plus 100k markup just felt silly - now my R will embarass one easily 😆
The money I saved buying an R over other track car options has allowed me to play with it and push its limits with zero regrets. 3100lbs - 700+hp and room for 4 ....very practical family car for me 😆
ACURA DID IT RIGHT THIS TIME!! All those german brands have gotten BORING .. If there isnt a 3rd pedal, im not interested
Alex always excellent.
Excellent review on an excellent car. I like the new driving format.
Great review!
At $50k, it ought to have a DCT option and a/c vents in the rear. Actually, same goes for the regular model.
Or ventilated seats too!
This car is for drivers - DCT is a no go
rear ac vent is not needed
Wish it wasn't such a big boat. Only 2 inches shorter than my S550 Mustang, which is like driving a tank.
It’s weird to see a Non Ev video on this channel!
G70
I paid 52k for my 2021 R - it has 640hp now and soon to be 700+hp
Guys like me have the money for this car and Type Rs have sold for 75k+ which means I'm not alone.
Very cool car considering the drivel that comes out these days.
Integraforums has a thread with a list of dealers selling at MSRP.
I love this thing, I think they’ll sell every single one of them.
I guess they wasn't planning on selling too many of these because there's no automatic transmission option or dual-clutch automatic ...
Theyre only planning to build 400 a month for the first year.
@@atmartens thats keep depends high

This car is for actual drivers
@@TheFK8Life yea 4 of y'all dont care about ppl who drive automatics ...we get it ...
@@TheFK8Life Okay, you say that until the car is discontinued because they couldn’t sell any. Where as an automatic helps sell more and would keep it around.
I think I would disagree that three point turns are easier because I prefer reverse next to first. But I've disagreed with you about that for years. 😊
By the looks of the seats giving a hunch that the type R is in progress
Great video - hows the rev hang compared to the regular integra?
Awesome car and reviews
20k more for 40 more horsepower
Wow, the 2024 Integra Type S looks absolutely stunning!
Thank you for such an indepth review! How would you compare this to a more cheaply Elantra N in terms of fun and drivability? Thank you
Pain points: lack of sound insulation, not-so-efficient mpg figures, crazy thin tire walls…
How on earth can dealer mark up this thing? Sell it more than TLX Type S lol?
It is not true that it doesn't have sound insulation. It's significantly quieter than a Type-R.
Have to say it is a brilliant package. Well done Acura/Honda. However, it is sad that the car is NA only. Bugger, Acura/Honda!
this is a type R for the older crowd. simple as that. I'm still trying to get over the fact that an Integra is a four door... I grew up with the original Integra...
Prefer the old format.
Acura should have put a DCT, ventilated seats and a sunroof.
Manual gears are a pain in the ass with heavy traffic!
I'm anxious to see what it will do on a track.I still think the FL5 will outperform it there.
Acura went the right way bc if they had the awd dual clutch it would lose the PURE feel. Thank heavens there is no moonroof! Also kudos for not slapping on plastic whell fenders. I hope this trend will end soon, like cauliflower. What I do not care for is the ipad screen. IT should be in-dash... also ditch plastic ducts in front. I cannot see the benefit.
My dream car.
