@@iamclydieCS Those are exactly my thoughts, but I noticed that only today, rewatching this legendary event. He deserved everything and achieved it through visualization, hard work, and great genetics. He is/was just a very talented person. Now he owns his own big brands and enjoys life. I don't blame him for massive drug use, especially cocaine. Many super-rich live like that and he accomplished a lot before heavy use. He is not fighting at all, lost all his previous fights, and still makes more hype in the fighting industry than anyone else. Truly GOAT.

I know. In my opinion this was the best version of conor we've seen. I don't blame him for boxing Floyd bc who would turn down a 100 million dollar payday? 30 mins for 100 million is insane money. However even Dana said before the fight that conor may never be the same fighter if he even chooses to fight again bc that amount of money significantly changes people. After Floyd he no longer had that same hunger and drive to be the best bc he had a achieved everything he set out to do and much more. I really hope we get to see him fight again and come back from that horrible leg break. But it'll be hard to watch because he won't be anywhere close to the fighter he was here. That type of injury, plus his lack of consistency since this fight, and his lack of motivation_hunger to be the best again, there's just no way he can come back and be like he was here. Especially if he fights Justin gaethje in his comeback fight. I feel like that is to hard a fight to come back from the leg break and that Justin would beat him handedly....the same way he dis Tony Ferguson. And that would be awful to see conor get beat that badly. Tony's career as a competitive fighter in his division ended that night he fought Justin gaethje

He would’ve never fought again at 145lbs due to the halt of IV’s and he would’ve lost to Tony and Khabib. Him leaving kept the delusion/illusion of grandeur.
Fantastic striker, but his game has too much weaknesses. Eddie (choked, even though Conor would’ve probably still won against Eddie at his best), Jose (choked, who knows what Jose could’ve done), and Chad (2 weeks notice and was still exposing Conor) were all wins that made him seem like one of the GOATs. Sadly we know he’s not even close to that. His fights against Nate, Dustin, and Khabib exposed him.

He won at featherweight fighting smaller guys… he really only beat Eddie at lightweight, and not sure Eddie is going down as one of the greatests…
Other than that, he lost to all good lightweights. Got destroyed in boxing, but ok, that made sense, but still…
He behaved terribly outside of the octagon… repeatedly punching innocent civilians… including an old man

Definitely the peak of McGregors career, not just because of the 2nd belt but the performance he put on here was a master class.
Alvarez looked nervous and not at his best, but McGregor made him look like a total amateur in there, and Eddie was no joke at the time.
It was all downhill from here for McGregor, he was already declining due to outside the cage antics before the losses to Mayweather and Khabib, but after those losses it was over.

Loss to mayweather was a forgone conclusion that doesn’t tarnish his legacy at all, it was about money and showmanship, it was the money he got from that fight, and then him becoming a whisky salesman and spending 2 years not training MMA that ruined him as a fighter. On top of that THEN facing the best grappler in MMA history for his comeback fight it’s a surprise he lasted 4 rounds against khabib. For me, it was when he lost fair and square to Dustin in 2021 that I knew Connor was definitely over the hill. Losing to khabib wasn’t even that bad, because no body beat khabib and his style is connors worst match up, losing to Dustin the way he did shows he isn’t a top level fighter anymore IMO. It all started when he became insanely rich in 2017

Everything lined up perfectly for Conor during this era. The world tour to promote the Aldo fight back when Aldo was unbeatable and Conor was the underdog, but had all the hype behind him. Starched him in 13 seconds. Most fighters career would top out at that, but then he took it to the next level with the Diaz fight. Prob the most hype Ive ever been for an MMA fight. Everyone at work stopped to watch the first make shift presser with Nate. Even tho he lost, he lost no momentum. Immediately rematched and barley beat Nate the 2nd fighy. How much bigger can it get? He then moves up to 155 and dominates eddie to become the first fighter to hold 2 consecutive UFC belts. This was the pinnacle of his career, and for the UFC. The sport will never be this exciting, this monumental, ever again. Its hard to imagine another fighter coming up and doing the same. He/she will always be compared to this era of Conor, and they will never beat it. Im just happy to have been a diehard MMA fan

The problem is that Conor relied on psychological warfare, defeating his opponents before they even stepped in the cage. It worked for a time, but that’s just not a good strategy for long term success. Other fighters will catch on to that eventually and they did. Part of the reason he looked unstoppable in this fight was because he knew he was in his opponents head.

This is Connor in his prime. I’d argue he could’ve scraped a win against Khabib when he was at this level. It would be very interesting to see if he stayed in MMA and defended the lightweight belt against khabib and tony, I’m not delusional, it’s entirely possible he’d lose, but I honestly think Connors striking, distance control, take down defence and accuracy were so good here that he could’ve beaten anyone at lightweight if he stayed at this level.
Logically it stands to reason that since Connor took 2 years out of MMA from late 2016 to late 2018, AND he took months at a time off proper training, and he was focussed on being a business man, and then he still came back and lasted 4 rounds against khabib, then it stands to reason if Connor stayed active and focussed that he may well have been able to win.
