I often felt the opposite, that it was too serious and so people didn't like it that much. People don't enjoy sad or hard to watch themes. Comparing myself to other artists online was what destroyed how I viewed my art. I had a 10 year art block after that. Came back to art a year ago or so but it will never be the same as before that art block
@@dreamingwide ufff that’s so heartbreaking and familiar at the same time. Sending you hugs. And I’m glad you’re back making art! I hope it will get easier with time 😌
I had a similar experience with school. I studied writing and minored in art and had a lot I needed to "unlearn" after. Another part of it was being true to my own style and tastes and being okay that it might never be super popular, and being happy that I am making what I want to make.
all of your dolls are so, so beautiful ❤️ i always had very high expectations of myself and never seriously got into doll making but your silly characters are such an inspiration ❤❤❤ love your work ❤️
Thank you so much! It means a lot, it took me a long time to warm up to speaking in English, which is not my native language and in front of a camera no less 🙈
I want to make dolls too and I have a question. When you make one with air dry clay, can you just leave it as it is as a finished doll? Can you make dolls fully made from air dry clay? Is it okay and not fragile?
Yes, you can! I started this way too. Made one-of-a-kind dolls from air-dry clay and even sold them. There are ways to make the clay more sturdy and long lasting. You might need to construct wire armature, use primer and protective varnish. Maybe even mix up a little bit PVA glue into the clay to make the small details stronger. But it’s totaly doable 👌
Let's discuss: Did you ever feel that your art is silly or not serious enough? How did you overcome that?

@@TheMaryWriter I’m glad to hear you find a way to do it! It takes some confidence and grit to find your true self in an art world. 👏
