    It appears you are left-hand dominant and for the hand sewn technique, you stitch from right to left. Would it be different for a right-hand dominant hand sewer?

    Couldn't you combine bobbin embroidery work with the machine technique? Then you could have the thicker decorative thread, and the ease of machine stitching. It would probably take some messing about to get the tension right, but it seems like it should work.

    I love this- thanks! What is the fabric you used and where can it be purchased?

      It's quilter's cotton. I had it leftover after doing my ironing board cover project. I purchased it at JoAnn's but it may have been a couple years ago

    I have a question, I love vintage looks, but the patterns never come in my size, do you have any tips on resizing a pattern? What's the best way to learn this?

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  7 лет назад +1

      Are you looking to do pattern grading? This is taking one pattern size and grading it up (or down) to another size. We don't have any tutorials on this but threads has a good article on it: www.threadsmagazine.com/item/4368/making-sense-of-pattern-grading/page/all

      Thank you! I'll have take a look at it. Well, I guess I want your advice, I love vintage clothes & essentially I'd like to learn pattern grading, but since the pattern sizes are so small & I'm plus size can they be sized up many sizes or do I have to start learning pattern making?

    will it be equally successful on thick and thin fabric?
    or foes tge fabric matter?

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  6 лет назад

      sure, you can use it on either types of fabric, it just might be hard to hand sew on the thicker fabrics so you'll want to use a thimble so you don't hurt your finger. I use pressing to keep the crease nice and crisp and your success in this will depend on the type of fabric. I'm using a standard quilting cotton so it holds a crease really nice. If you were doing it on something like knit, then you'll probably be less successful.

    I'm surprised in this day and age they haven't changed the name of this yet....could be offensive to the gay community.

    • @oabuseer
      @oabuseer 7 лет назад +4

      stvnixrcks Let's please not be ridiculous. I don't know any lgbt people that would find this offensive.

      oabuseer I certainly wasn't but just saying people these days get so offended by lots of things :-)

      Yeah I would stick with the term "bridging" exclusively. The other is highly questionable.

      Nowhere in the canton of ethics or religious teachings does it say you have the right not to be offended.

    • @HackThePlanetNow

      It all comes down to context. If someone is gay and get offended by this being called fagoting then it's their problem because there is no intent to insult. If it's meant to be insulting like calling someone a day then it's a problem and needs to be changed.
