For the email personalisation you have more options because the customer can choose the image as well as the text and other design features

Hi there, if you want to your customers to be able to add their own image and process such order automatically, you should enable personalization for selected element, like an image in the editor. This will allow your customers to purchase products and receive an email with an editor link to personalize the design after the purchase.
