  • I've checked out amps from NU-X in the past, but never tried one of their stand-alone guitar wireless systems. This one is super compact and solves the limited battery life issue with a super cool charging case! I got zero interference during my testing for nothing but crystal clear sound. Of course I'm using my Harley Benton Guitar MAX Fusion signature guitar for the test!

    I appreciate you doing part of the demo with zero effects on the guitar. Everybody else seems to wail away with fuzz, flanger, reverb etc. -- which can mask all sorts of noise coming from the wireless unit. But if is sounds good with just plain, clean, vanilla guitar, then it's probably a good unit.

    I've been using these for 3 and 4 hour gigs over the last few years, the battery has never let me down. they have a few other cool features too. They used to pop out of the input jack of my Ibanez Xiphos because it's a bit recessed, a bit of tape is the fix.

    Right after they were introduced, a year and a half(?) ago I got the Harley Benton AirBorne Pro 5.8Ghz Instrument wireless. With shipping it was a little over $100 US. It's a fantastic system and has great range as well as multi channel in the event of extraneous interference. I have gone in excess of three hours on a charge/transmitter. The stomp pedal housing is ABS plastic so that is perhaps the only weakness of the system.

    Had mine for years. Weekly playing for church and needed something that worked with both active (acoustic guitar) and passive (electric guitar) pickups. Many other systems don't work with both - read the fine print! The transmitter does not turn off automatically in active pickup and will continue to drain pickup battery if left in - when plugged in to passive pickup turns off after about 10 minutes of inactivity.
    Game changing not having to worry about cables getting in the way.
    Charging case puts it over the top.

    Hey Max…. I work in a music store and we got these about a year ago and I bought one and I’ve put away my wireless and been using thi the last year. I love it!! Never had an issue getting thru a 4 set gig. (I shut them off between sets) but it’s never ran out and even by the end of the night the lights are still green (it changes to red when the battery goes low.) I’ve never had it go to red. I highly recommend these. Love that I don’t have to buy batteries anymore. And I’ve never had interference or had them delay from getting too far away. Again highly recommended!!! AND I REALLY want your signature model!! That thing is beautiful!!!!

    Very cool charging case, love that. Important thing to know for people considering buying these is .. This particular set is at 2.4 Ghz if you use guitars that take batteries, for instance guitars with EMG's Fenders with built in pre-amps 2.4 GHZ can give you problems and may even cause you to think your guitar is broken, toggle switches with battery guitars can be intermittent or not work on some settings. For guitars with batteries in them I recommend 5.8GHZ. I was fortunate enough to have both around when I discovered this issue and tested all kinds of ways with at least 3 of my guitars that have batteries in them. Tc Max keep up the good work ^5

      @@honigdachs. Just learned from experience, I have a couple of Schecters .. with EMG' and one of them also has a Sustainiac. I was playing one day after the previous day I had been using 5.8ghz and had zero issues, next day with the 2.4's toggle switch was not working on most settings .. thought it was the toggle switch, then thought shit it was working great yesterday... plugged in the 5.8's and no problems .. plugged in a chord no problem .. same thing with both Schecter's. So then I grabbed one of my favorites, a Roadhouse Stratocaster with a pre=amp in it .. never had an issue with that guitar same problem.. same remedy. So then I knew it was the 2.4's don't work well with guitars that have 9v batteries in them .. I also have a Roland Strat .. which does all kinds of things including sounding like an acoustic ... 12 string.. changes tunings.. humbuckers.. tele sound.. sitar sound same issues, my guitars are perfectly setup and I keep all of them in top shape at all times. ..2.4's are great ..just know your better off with 5.8ghz with anything that takes a 9 volt. Tc . rock on

      A lot of older home wifi routers also run on 2.4Ghz and the channels are generally very heavily used, at least in urban locations - so you may get a bit of interference from that as well.

    I really like the rechargable case with this NU>X B-5RC system! I myself use the SWIFF AUDIO WS-50 BLACKWINGS system. They are very similar to this system with inaudible latency and almost 4+ [almost 5] hrs. of battery life on a single charge.
    I don't know if this NU>X system has this feature but, if you have 2 or more sets of the BLACKWINGS system, you can link multiple receivers to one transmitter. This means you can connect one instrument to multiple amps, for example. Having 3 sets, I have an almost completely wireless setup now.
    1. I use one set [1 transmitter, 1 receiver] to connect my bass to my multi bass effects unit.
    2. I link my bass effects and bass preamp together with a quality patch cable _[the only wired components in my setup]_
    3. I then connect a 2nd transmitter _(which is linked to 2 receivers)_ to the output jack of my preamp unit and connect the linked receivers to my Hartke 1X15 amp and my Trace Elliot ELF head, which runs both a TE 1X10 and a TE 2X8 cabs.
    The result? I use my Hartke to handle the low end of my sound, while the TE ELF handles the mids and highs which really gives me the freedom and room to sculpt my bass sound exactly how I want. I have never experienced any kind of interference or noticeable latency. Plus, I obviously get the freedom of being able to move around without worrying about snagging or stepping on any guitar cables, as well as being able to go from room to room without any signal or volume loss. I love my bass rig! Gonna be hard to go back to using cables but, I still keep mine just in case of an emergency or if the batteries need charging.
    Great video here, brother! Thanks for sharing!

      I tried the SWIFF ws 70 and found the latency intolerable.I couldn't use picking dynamics ,if there wasn't a strong pick attack the transmitter would die until it perceived the next note,yet a single note would sustain a reasonable time,I couldn't understand it but I couldn't play with it ,so back it went.

    03/29/2023: Hello, I am retired 77-years young, and I love your informative videos. I have he JOYO wireless for my guitar to amp, which works great for only $38.00. May I ask you to do a video on the best "wireless" over the ear headphones that don't need a computer or Bluetooth phone. I seek to just plug in an adapter to headset jack on amp and play. I could only find Waza headset that simply had an adapter to plug in amp, but the price point is about $400.00. I am just a home hobbyist and do not wish to pay that much. My EART Guitar T-380, Modern Humbucker Pickups, Double Coil Split, Two Point Tremolo Bridge, stainless steel fret wires electric Guitar guitar only cost me that much. So, what do you think? I have Xvive X2 2.4ghz and Ammon 5.8ghz units. They both work fairly well. What I have found with 2.4ghz , especially around wifi and wireless home phone is there could be interference also how they are placed on the guitar also can cause some issues. Finally if your using a pedal board they have to be attached to the beginning of the signal chain which places the receiver on the floor potentially leaving the unit exposed to being stepped on...with the plastic casing this could also be an issue. 2.4ghz is prone to interference where 5.8 is a bit less prone to the same issues but the range is greatly reduced.

But most people probably don’t have hearing good enough to discern between wireless and a good quality fender coiled cable. One thing you didn’t mention is that they automatically turn off if there is no signal for about 10 minutes.

      @@JayneCenturion-ij4bc I hear ya, I now show up with a whole rig that all my music and vocals come through and are sent to front of house and also straight to my ears. I'm a sound guy myself, I dont know what most sound guys are missing but out of the thousands of gigs I played, I rarely could ever even hear myself.
      These Nux units are complete trash. I'm on my replacement set. Like I said, when they work they are great but they have received interference rendering them unusable in every single environment I've tested them at. My first pair randomly failed and started playing some chinese transmission.

Right!? lol I feel like the best sound is the sound I do myself which is sad because i am far from as knowledgeable or experienced as most of the sound people for big stage and festivals.

      @@JayneCenturion-ij4bc Im actually going to go back to use the old cheap Audio Technica systems. Theyre like 50 bucks at this point and they worked for me for years. Slight drop in sound but they were consistently reliable on stages all around the US and Canada. Never had a problem til one of the cables broke and they were special cables.

      @thecollective1584 Год назад

      I've been using Line 6 for about 11 years and have never had a hassle. I have used it in small bars, theaters, outdoor shows... anywhere you cabln play. One night, I didn't have my transmitter sleeve at a theater gig. I stuck it in my pocket, and with my tendency to go nits on stage, it came out and skittered across the stage. The headliner's guitar tech was just offstage, grabbed one of his cables and ran out to plug me in while the stage crew ran out to gather up my wireless. The tech (saving my ass twice) tossed new batteries and had me up and running between songs. My Line 6 never 8nce faltered.

    What matters most with wireless to me is the digital compression used (i.e. the audio codec). It could be like sending an MP3-128k over wireless and that is not going to sound good to me. Or ideally it could be lossless like sending a WAV over wireless and then there would be no audio artifacts, but it would also be more difficult to transmit lossless audio.

    • @T1H0
      @T1H0 Год назад

      I really doubt any of them are doing any advanced codec conversion unless they are using bluetooth, it would require a CPU and actually slow the transmission down, I imagine most are simply doing one of two things: analog signal > FM signal > analog signal, or analog > digital > FM > digital > analog (this is the one you want, it will help the sound stay the same)

    • @superblondeDotOrg
      @superblondeDotOrg Год назад

      @@T1H0 None of these types of units use FM, they are all digital DSP, and 2.4 GHz or similar frequency, in the WiFi band. They are definitely using some type of audio codec. They are not using standard bluetooth because bluetooth does not have enough range.

    Does the guitar have active pickups ? I tried a cheap set of these years ago and the sound was barely there. I assumed having active pickups would take care of that. So basically the set I bought were useless.

    • @erucsbo
      @erucsbo 8 месяцев назад

      the NUX B-5RC works with both active and passive pickups - unlike some other systems. On active pickups they will continue to drain the battery so they don't automatically turn off unlike when they are plugged into a passive pickup (turn off in about 10 minutes of no activity)
