    I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since you installed the a/c!!! I remember watching those videos and thinking you would be replacing that unit every 6mo with the vibrations and salt but good deal I’m glad it’s worked out!!!

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  2 года назад +1

      hello cap. yes is the way i position the ac the farthest as possible to the back of the cabin so has less impacts i thought of that wen i installed it but 159$ divided by 4 that is $ 40 per year to have ac in my boat that is cheap and i think i can run it for 4 more years cap, thanks for your comment cap.

    Hi Capt... another great video... You ARE an exceptional engineer with the items you installed on your boat and truck. I remember all the 'nay-sayers' telling you how your air-conditioner would not work on the boat, or would not last long. There were also a lot of 'nay-sayers', on your Mercedes channel saying how the air conditioner you rigged there would not work; yet it did. And, that too was an engineering marvel! ☺

    I’ve been struggling to find an AC solution for the cabin on my 2810. There’s limited space in the compartments underneath the berth cushions and no cabinetry/storage like you have in the pilot house. Probably marine options which would fit but $2k like you mentioned plus additional hardware and more holes in the hull. Been considering the portable battery powered options like the zerobreeze and eco flow wave, but those are $2k plus with batteries as well and I have a hard time believing those will stand up to the salt. Even if they’re kept inside, the intake has to be routed out of the cabin so it is drawing in that salt air. You’re a brilliant guy if you have any ideas or recommendations I’m all ears!

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  2 года назад +1

      the ideal place to install a unit is midship or more to the rear of the boat because the pounding of the seas will do damage to the unit specially in the berth if is in forward of the boat, but to make my unit work it took me 30 days of thinking to come up with a great solution, my advice go to your boat and start making ideas , like i did sometimes i was hrs in my boat thinking, you can do it cap.👍

    • @jaybdvm
      @jaybdvm 2 года назад +1

      For less than $1,000 you can get an RV roof top unit and mount it on the roof of the cabin. Also you can get a MUCH higher BTU unit that way. My Parker dealer in Bonita Spring,Fl has done this.

      @@exoticflorida2360 Bonita Boat Center, Bonita Springs. They gotta cut holes in the roof of the boat, and it will affect your bridge clearance. I am guessing between the cost of the A/C unit and installation it will run $2,000. MarinAire, Miami, has a TINY 9,000 btu unit for about $1,700 plus the water pump and installation (probably $3,000 when you are done.
      It is so small you could mount it on a bench seat near a bulkhead. I have seen them many times at the local boat showa. Adapt the waste holding tank underwater discharge valve to become the intake for the
      A/C. (You can't use it anyway unless you are miles offshore.) Then you only need one above the waterline new hole for discharge for the A/C. I have a Parker 2510 with a cuddy cabin I put a 6,000 btu window unit in a plywood box I made, attached two 6" ducts. I have a in-line 6" fan mounted to the top of the box. Intake is a port side porthole with a custom make wooden mounting and a hvac duct.(I remove it and close the port hole when not using it). Exhaust is through the bulkhead on one side blowing into a recess cup holder area on the port side. The whole thing sits in the berth area up against the bulkhead, on the cushion. A drain tube I installed goes to the drain in the cabin floor. I have no windows in my small cuddy cabin. With all that glass in your cabin (without ceramic tinting it) I would go way higher than 6,000 btu. Look at a Jeanneau 895 cabin boat. The A/C they offer BARELY works according to the dealer. He was gonna recommend every boat sold with AC get a light ceramic tint on all the glass.
