Hey AK, you didn't have to worry about pickpockets. We all had your back. Watching the thousands of folks walking around in this video got me to thinking about how really amazing it is that, except for identical twins, we each have a unique face.
Cool, B&H! I have purchased a number of things from them, online. Never made it to the actual store though. So, this is interesting. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for letting me see my old city and residence again!!! It looks so clean and beautiful, not like the gritty place of my youth. But always exciting no matter what generation experiences it!!!
Another nice vid, thanks. Did not know about 34th St. being a hotspot for crime, thanks for the tip! BTW I like your sign-off music at the end of each video, do keep that if you can.
Your video is really helpful ,today I saw a picture of a particular place in newyork somewhere, then I was able to recognize the place in my brain through the help of your video. Thanks alot.i will take out time to watch more of your videos
Like that image of the "Sloan House" at 0:55 It used to be the famous YMCA. My father stayed there when he was on leave in the navy during WW II and afterward as a disabled veteran. I stayed there during visits to NYC in the 1980s. From the web: "The Sloane House YMCA, also known as William Sloane House YMCA, at 356 West 34th Street in Manhattan was the largest residential YMCA building in the nation. It was sold in 1993 for $5 million and converted to condominium units later. Its pending closure was noted as part of a trend." If you go out into the street and look at the face of the building you'll see "YMCA" still inscribed above the entrance.
@@ActionKid I've heard a lot about the old building, lots of stories about the hall as well as the artist studios/residences on top. Supposedly the studios/residents have been removed and the spaces are being repurposed: more scaffolding.
You passed my old work place 330 W 34th street B& H is near the corner. Boy B & H expanded! 💖 Oh the panini place is gone next to Duane Reade's. O.K. so you did notice surveillance. Honestly that day they had the two policemen jump out in front of you really, just really! For as long as you have been doing your walks I think by now they would know you are an upstanding citizen. So in spite of them I'm glad you continued to do this wonderful work.
B and H Photo is a legit store. Been ordering from them for years and no problem. Beware, viewers, I was in NYC on a Saturday one time, B&H was closed and I needed a camcorder battery. Those "camera stores" in Times Square and Broadway can be crooked! One tried to sell me the battery for THREE times what B&H gets. One bit of advice. Before entering B&H, know exactly what you need. This is NYC, and they really do not have the time for a long, drawn-out purchase.
B&H is one of my favorite places to get stuff! I’ve warned about the side electronic shops around Times Square and tourist areas multiple times in my videos.
Wow! I just have to comment: so many people moving around! I mean I've been there (exact same spots) but so much more people. There were already a lot when I was there (no cell phones then). Makes sense of course but seeing it is still surprising 😱// Too bad you didn't get what you wanted at B&H.
thank you so much for doing video every day, is it possible for you set subtitles for your videos because youtube auto-generator subtitle hasn't perfect quality
Last time I was in NY a friend who works with homeless says often they just want to be treated as human beings. If you can, catch their eye and ask how they’re doing. Whether you give them a dollar or not you can make their day and maybe yours too. You can always disengage with “gotta go now.” Obviously you only do this where there are many people around and you keep a respectful distance.
That's New York for you congestion overcrowded I was downtown Chicago yesterday congestion and overcrowded lot of people busy going here and there but it was nice though sunshine and Smooth
yep, taking cellphies & posting crap on there social media....people no longer live to get into things but rather live just to take pictures & post so they can get a natural high from people compliments.....before social media we went outside to engage in life, see what we could get into from a little kid all the way till highschool....cellphones & social media has made this generation lazy .
I think you're less likely to get pick pocketed If you visit NYC on the weekend or not during rush hour. You said you filmed at around 5pm. That's when the most amount of people are out.
So hard to believe men like the (older man in orange shirt) walking around with his wallet in his back pocket, looks like a tourist, overwhelmed and unaware of being an obvious target for pickpocketers. Or that woman who had that purse wide open as well. Crazy!
Lol since I used to live in NY I carried my wallet in my front pocket and still have that habit even though I live on the west coast up in the sierras.
Always carry your wallet in your front pocket. I carry my wallet on one side and my phone in the other pocket. I never did understand the policy of carrying your wallet and your phone in your back pockets. First of all it makes it very easy for someone to pick your pockets. Secondly every time you sit down you're sitting on your wallet and/or phone. Also pick pockets HATE to face they're victim. I believe the term they use is "kissing the dog". As far as unmarked police cars are concerned, there are videos on RUclips of unmarked NYPD cars painted to look like taxi cabs. With all the cabs out there they will blend in very easily.
Never was a fan of 34th street (target rich environment) - pedestrian traffic congestion, people just wondering with no direction or destination with no clue of their surroundings from Park Ave to 9th Street.

Oh very cool!
Great video! I would like to see you do some walk thru videos. ie: walk thru Penn Station, Macy’s B&H Photo, Starbucks etc.
Hey AK, you didn't have to worry about pickpockets. We all had your back. Watching the thousands of folks walking around in this video got me to thinking about how really amazing it is that, except for identical twins, we each have a unique face.
While watching the video, it's almost like living in New York.

Enjoyed this video, nice job. Have you ever visited Carnegie Hall? A tour would be great.
I’ve passed by the outside but never did a video of the interior.

It’s always advisable to carry your belongings in a way where it won’t be easy to steal. I’m not a fan of rear pockets.
