your right actionkid does a wonderful job recording & narrating BUT it would have been better if high Definition & UHD recording devices were out back in the 80's & 90's like today, NewYork city had 100 times more energy & it was more ICONIC back then....if you ever had the pleasure to visit NewYork cities 5 boroughs in the 80's & 90's then you know exactly what I'm talking about....it was alot more dirtier & far far more dangerous than today but it would make for some AWESOME video.....most of these walks from actionkid doesn't remind me at all of the NYC I remember back in 1987 till 1995....more laid back & more calm nowadays & not as much energy as back in the day.

I know many other people said it before me, and i know you don t do it with this purpose in mind, but i think the city of New York should recognize your efforts to spread the knowledge of this beautiful city in some manner ;)
Keep it up, AK. Especially the narrated ones , although i know some stuff , 90 % of what you re describing is new to me .

interesting walking down Union square. When I lived in NY 60 years ago the famous store, pre-discount era, was S. Kleins on the Square. a store where the bargain hunters were waiting at the front door for the place to open. They'd rush in and scoop up the advertised items they wanted. In one minute the rack or table was empty. But if you waited a few minutes a lot of them would change their minds and back they were so you could pick up what you were looking for. Today every store pretends to be a discount store. But S. Kleins was the greatest. Thanks for the Memories.

Love Grand Central Station...I would go through there too and from work. Great place to pick up dinner in the way home, or meet friends for dinner or a drink! Great shops! Miss Grand Central at Christmas time with their holiday Mart and laser light show in the main lobby (I'm not sure they do that anymore)! Unexpected events...I saw even Paul McCartney had a surprise concert awhile ago. It's always bustling and a fun place to be. I don't live in NY anymore but seeing Grand Central brings back such good memories! Thank you!

Nice video..The 1522 on the left side of clock is in military time...3:22pm , in the middle are seconds and milliseconds, to the right , 0838 means the number of hours and minutes until midnight ( 8 hrs and 38 min) . The numbers keep changing as time passes, obviously. The building which connects Met Life with the bridge is also part of Met Life. The New York Life building was formerly at the site of the original Madison Square Garden , thus, Madison Sq Park is named after it. I would just add that Park Ave South is specifically referred to as such. Park Avenue begins at 32nd St and 2 Park Ave is located there. Park Ave South numbers ascend until they approach 32nd St. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work.

I always liked "landing" in CTC from my trips from Westchester to NYC (and back). My very first memories of GTC go back to the early 60's when my mother used to take us down to Rock Center for the (Disney) Christmas pagents. Never walked that far south from GTC though. Later on used to get the #6 train from GTC to Astor place to visit my buds in the East Villiage.

Metronome clock at Union Sq: Take the 6 digits from left are 152145 which are the actual time of that day 15hrs 21min 45sec then take the 6 digits from right by pair of 2 which are 08 38 14...this is the time left in that day (8 hrs 38 min 14 sec...). If you add up these 2 row of digits (152145 + 083814) it equal 235959 or 23hrs 59 min 59 sec...the end of the day.

@@mikvas8088 Well he doesn't own the rights to "Walk around NYC streets and film" does he? If you are a success and the barrier entry is low, you are going to attract competition. This is business and happens everywhere. As long as he carries on doing what he is doing there is no problem. If ActionKid can earn more or less a living by walking the streets of New York, I couldn't think of a better way to earn a living. Buongiorno Action kid. I'm a native born Bronx New Yorker but living way out in the S.W. region in N.M. I have to admit its been years since my last visit to the city. I have a question of a refresher. ? Could you please remind as to the physical differences between streets and Avenues there? Plus despite what my friends here think that im a bit off my rocker? I would love to move back when i retire to either N.Y.C. in the Bronx? Or up to Boston where i lived back in the early 80's and it reminded me of New York as in my view the two city's have many similarities to them. Anyway in close i appreciate your videos as you share several area's in the city there. Anyway again Grazie mille, thank you again. Have a good day sir. Ciao.

You saw it! That is not a tile but a single black square of grime left by the woman who cleaned and restored the ceiling. Her first name was Marina and I have forgotten her last name.
She was an acrobat with the Moscow Circus. Chosen as a young child for her tiny size she grew up in a semi bondage of training and performing.and toured the United States in 1978. She fled in New York, helped by other refugees, and learned how to clean and restore paintings.
I met her when I brought my Hudson Valley painting (damaged and torn in the loss of my house in Katrina) to her Garrison New York studios. She told me how she worked on a scaffold on her back removing the grime from train smoke, cigarettes of years. She also told me she had left a little square of dirt so people could see what had covered all the lovely art underneath. it

When I was 12 years old I ran away from home and took a bus to New York City. Saw police beat a man with their night sticks , billy clubs. , and that scared me . I turned myself in and police contacted my parents to come get me . I never ran away again. 🇺🇸
