I’ve done Huashan, #1 on this list. It’s a short hike but intensely nerve wracking. You’re so high up on a sheer rock face staring down at a 2000m drop. It’s hard to grasp, even when you’re up there. The hike leads to an small old temple situated in a little nook on cliffside. Pretty incredible.

Huashan looks ridiculous. 100 deaths a year? It’s like someone dies every 3 days! I would definitely pass on that. On Angel’s Landing and Half Dome I would not do the full trail. The one in Spain #10 looks nuts too. What can I say? I’m a puss with heights.

Angel's Landing will always hold a special place in my memories. The real danger on the trail is the amount of people. They're usually pretty courteous, however, because of the thrill aspect, it attracts a ton of inexperienced and very unprepared hikers. Be careful and always look out for a be another.

Thank you, great video! I live in Utah (home of Angel's Landing, Zion National Park) and have climbed most of the highest peaks in the Utah and the western states. While Angel's Landing has extreme exposure with an 800ft drop on the right and a 1,200ft vertical drop on the left at the narrow neck, it does have cemented cables through all dangerous parts. It doesn't seem nearly as dangerous as some of the other hikes you listed. I'm happy to see it made your list, but I think putting it as #2 is rating it higher than it deserves. It certainly is no place to become dizzy or lose your balance!

I've not hiked the others, but as a Utahn, Angel's Landing certainly deserves to be up there. The hike itself would perhaps not be so risky if you were left to hike it with few others. But unfortunately, it's deadly busy, crowded with people who have little hiking experience and no care for hiking etiquette. During the final, crowded section, inexperienced hikers clamber over each other, taking unnecessary risks that imperil their lives and those of others. The views are truely stunning, but the crowds make this hike a nightmare.

Went up Half Dome last year and can confirm this hike is not for the uninitiated or the fain-hearted. The hike itself is an almost constant uphill slog apart from a brief moment halfway when you get to Little Yosemite Valley. And even though my fear of heights is less than most, the cables and the hike up to Sentinel Dome right before that are quite daunting if you're not mentally prepared. It's a good 50-degree incline and takes a lot out of your arms from holding onto the cables for dear life. I nearly collapsed from exhaustion two miles from the end myself. However, it was a life-changing hike and I definitely recommend it to anyone in good shape that wants the full Yosemite experience!

⁉️😨 Damn, really!? Well, if it's been repaired and it's not super-dangerous anymore, then it's just NOT going to be challenging enough for me at this point, for I am an ultra-adventurer! I guess I'm stuck having to climb the falls trail at Yosemite, then kayak down the completely vertical waterfall there, which drops over 1000 feet straight down. Maybe that'll be risky enough to slate my thirst for extreme-ness! 😁👍

I loved the Half Dome cable route. Very exposed, but fairly easy. Of course, If you let go you're going down. I actually remember parts of the approach being riskier. There was one section that if you slipped and tumbled a few feet you'd go over at least a 100 ft. drop. And yes, leave early, you don't want to get caught up there in a storm during the afternoon. I'm really looking forward to Angel's landing. Been wanting to hike that for a while. I think most of the mishaps there are when it's snowy or icy. Still, not for the faint of heart.

Degollada de Peraza to San Sebastian de Gomera - via "The hand". Remote and dangerous - and even when you get down to the valley floor there are vertiginous, scrapes to get through in order to get through to the Capital and civilization. At one point, there is a fifteen feet stretch where you need to put one foot in front of another with a sheer drop of two thousand feet on your right hand side - more dangerous than Crib Goch if that helps categorise it.

I did Angels Landing as a 49 year old, overweight, out of shape, afraid of heights, dad.....with my 5 of my 6 kids and wife.
    Was it amazing? Yes.
Would I do it again? No, at least not past Scout point.
It was very hard, and the number of people as obstacles are the main source of risk.
Also, you have to be sure-footed...if you are clumsy, don't do it.
Having said that, now at 52.....If I can lose a bunch of weight and get in shape, I'd like to try half dome. But I won't try it unless I can get that job done.
If you are going to do it....
    - start very early to avoid the crowds
    - don't go past Scout Point (part of the trail) if there is any rain
    - Consider stopping at Scout Point as the chains don't start till after that spot
    - don't go with any idiots

After the switchbacks at the halfway viewpoint It took my brother close to an hour to finally convince me to complete the daunting trail that lay ahead of us. As I am not so great with unsafe height's...latter's, steep graded roofs, edges of tall buildings etc...heights like inside of airplanes at 35,000ft or even skyscrapers like the skybox in the Sears Tower I can handle or even enjoy. We begin the climb as a couple(husband and wife)are just completing their descent from what I like to call the "the trail to hell". My brother asks .... how was it, the views have to be out of this world right? I could tell that with the tone in his voice, he was asking with hope that their answers would be nothing but absolute positive and greatness for the experience we're about to endure. The husband was like....very beautiful up there but quite a challenging trail....definitely worth it...the wife....(I could tell that she had been crying) says that she will never ever do it again and couldn't wait to get back home in her safe house and that she was done with this camping trip. I look at my brother and he's acting like all he heard was "worth it". Pretty much right into the beginning of the trail there are big, heavy chains anchored into the rocks.....the red rocks. That's right everyone reading this . I have been to the very top of ANGELS LANDING. There are hiking trails and then there are paths called hiking trails. Much like that sweet Young wife....i too will never ever do that again. The views are absolutely breathtaking, the accomplishment is rewarding, the experience is memorable, the risk and feeling of discomfort was not worth it for me. When we finally got to the top I literally had stay on my stomach just to get kind of close to the edge for the look down. speaking of down....that is pretty much why I will never do it again. Going up was scary and somewhat difficult but it was the "going down" that made it damn near impossible for me. It took twice as long to descend vs the climb. All that being said....after watching this video I'm just glad it wasn't that #1 in China. My brother could have had a million dollars cash and I would have definitely decline that offer for that stupid hike. Thanks for the vid and thanks for reading to whomever read this. CHEERS

IMHO, the West Rim Trail (17mi. Lava Point to Angel's Landing) is THE most beautiful trail in Zion, as you're seeing all the formations from above before descending into them! East Rim Trail (13mi) has beautiful views at the end, but is currently closed at the end (Hidden Canyon massive rock falls), so you have to backtrack the entire trail.

Official fatality stats are recorded and are nowhere near that high on grand traverses - to the best of my knowledge, no one has died on a Drakensberg Grand Traverse. People have died on other passes in the range, including the Bell Traverse, though. That quoted stat (which is wrong in any case, the number is closer to 100) is all fatalities reported in the range since record keeping started around 100 years ago, with climbing accidents being the leading cause of death, followed by lightning strikes - but an average of a single fatality annually isn't high by global standards. Bandits usually attack with rocks and sometimes guns, I have never heard of an incident with clubs - although their dogs are absolutely terrifying, had a number of near misses with them over the years. For context, they are hunting dogs, so they will happily kill if required. No one has died by falling off the chain ladders, and falls of them are extremely rare - I am only aware of two such incidents in 70 years, and neither was fatal. I've personally done the chain ladders over 20 times - they are really not that bad, I have seen 7 year olds doing them. If you'd like a high incident to ascent ratio in the Drakensberg on a non-climbing route - that would be Xeni Pass, its had at least one fatality and something like 5 rescues despite probably only getting an ascent every 5 or so years.

Since I was at a young age my balance has not been dependable to go any type of narrow trail or on any type of unstable surface. I have to have space to allow me to catch my balance at times. I am not a risk taker.

Angels landing is not a particularly dangerous hike. I’ve done it twice and the second time was in the winter when there was plenty of ice on the trail and the key is just to take one step at a time and take each step carefully. most of those five people who died on the trail, died while taking photographs.
That number one hike in China with the rickety boards that are 7000 feet above certain death, is leagues in danger above angels landing!

I would not agree on the relative danger of Angel’s Landing vs Half Dome. First, HD has a higher probability of death. AL is also a much less arduous hike than HD - it’s really not close. AL is around 5M with 1800’ elevation. It does not compare to HD - HD is really more like 20M out and back (safer to take John Muir Trail) and a 5000’ elevation climb. The cable climb for HD obviously comes at the very end, and it comes after you have already climbed 4500’ and after the very steep and under appreciated sub-dome climb. Basically you climb 1000’ in the last ~0.5 miles. That makes the cable climb that much worse. AL has exposure and if you’re afraid of heights it’s scary at times but nothing compared to the full HD beating. I didn’t need to train for AL but I did for HD and it was still challenging and is much scarier in person by a long shot compared to photos. Go look at a 40 story building and that’s what you’re really looking at for the last run up to the top.

I went up the next day just to make it to the top. I want to get back out there before I get too much older and do the yosemite falls hike.
