Just some little tips: Trying to outrun missiles by climbing is usually a very bad decision. You should get fast and drop to the deck as soon as possible to get below targeting radar's horizon. I don't know if it is modeled in the game but especially for older missiles notching them ie. Pointing down at the ground and then pulling atlow altitude will confuse the missiles and cause them to just ram the deck as they try to track you but don't know that the deck exists at all and will hit it. Also some missiles track your speed difference. If you go directly perpindicular to their bearing you will have no velocity difference from your surroundings (ie. the sea or the ground) from the missiles point of view and it will loose track.
The other reason for this is because air is thinner the higher you go, so if you climb not only do you sacrifice your speed but you improve the range of the SAM. Diving lower increases drag on the missile, which once the booster phase ends begins to slow the SAM and reduce it's range and ability to maneuver. Likewise, jinking up and down down low can cause the missile to adjust it's track into the deck.
Notching is not a thing in Sea Power but all missiles have a minimum engagement altitude below which their accuracy is significantly reduced, to reflect the effect of increased surface clutter at low altitude. The older the missile, the less forgiving their minimum engagement altitudes will be.
0:41 In reality this did happen to some extent. Soviet Union planned a full-scale strategic nuclear strike against China. The USA not only passed on the information to the Chinese leadership (whom had begun evacuating to inland areas to avoid the first wave of attack), but also found a relatively small newspaper to expose the decision as a form of tacit warning which eventually convinced the Soviet Union to back off. Then in late 1970s when Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, both China and USA secretly supplied weapons (most famously the Stinger missles but reportedly also Chinese rifles with the Chinese characters scratched off) to mujahideens.
I don't doubt that some plan existed but even USA had plans for potential conflict with Canada before ww2, it doesn't mean usa was actually going to do that.
