Oh WOW…That buffet is PERFECT!! My gosh what a kind thing for her to do, it’s beautiful and the height is so perfect for those high ceilings in your home.
I’m one of the few folks that knows all of the brick that needs repointed will be done. To me it’s obvious that you are doing everything the right way…actually you remind me of myself and I’d be anal about doing it the right way, even if it means I had to learn how to do it myself. Just don’t do what I do and burn yourself out. Keep taking those breaks or even a vacation. It’ll help you stay focused. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK KALEB!!!

Appreciative people donate things to young people like you and Kim! What you and Kim are doing is inspirational to a lot of people, myself included! If I had some awesome antiques I know I would donate to you the both of you!! I'm just enjoying your journey along with you! P.S. I LOVE Kim's t shirt today!! =) That window you had to make a inch smaller because of the back wall being so deteriorated will be just fine, I'm sure!! Also, I knew Kim was busy behind the scenes, thanks for sharing what she is doing too as it is just as important to make things go smooth!! I wish some one would donate a stained glass window to you for that back window, since it's special anyway! Good job to the two of you!! Peace, Kim ~

A good idea if it’s a good one. Ours is micromanaged by the woman who started it and she constantly berates everyone for not using her particular “approved” wording, not making each person interested in your item give a reason or playing some kind of game and just giving it to the first interested party, and so much more. Sucks every smidgeon of enjoyment right out of the experience. I’ve seen it work beautifully elsewhere. And in the city where my other home is located, there’s a neighborhood group (not next door) and people will often post things there - sometimes, for small things, you have to make contact. But for larger items, it’s often just a notice that X has been placed on the curb, a description of condition, and it’s first come, first served. If nobody takes it, it sits for the pickers or trash day.

Might I suggest that you put in a permanent exhaust fan with a thermostat control set to go on At 12:00 noon and go off at say 6:00pm automatically during the hottest point of the day especially if your working there and while the summer heat can reek havoc on your wood that has not been finished yet. It will save on the use of A.C. Time of use with some utility's can save you some cash on the bills. By the way, your doing a fabulous job. Not easy to work on an old home such as this one. It will be worth the effort and a learning experience when its completed. Re: electrical, Start running the Romex yourself once you talk to electrician. usually you can run/snake new wire from the old by pulling it and replacing the fixtures along that route with updated energy efficient stuff like LED. Re: the wall, just get some mortar and a mortar bag and repoint it. Its like a pastry bag full of mortar and just fill the joints and leave it at that.

A Little Tip I use when restoring unoccupied houses. Buy some cheap lace curtains & tack them up temporarily over the windows. It will make the House look lived in even if it is a bit of a mess outside. Will help deter vandals & thieves.

As someone from Europe I personally find it quaint with old houses where not everything's perfectly straight. There's houses from the 1600s where you'd struggle finding any straight wall, window anything really. But that's what gives them character and a beauty something distinct. Because they're not trying to be all perfect and new it's a part of history.
So you shouldn't worry too much if not everything's perfect your house is beautiful with those small imperfections, they're just to show that your house has history.

I wish I had the money, time, patience, and dedication to do something like this.

    Window locks: Lovely choice!
As you pointed out, the main purpose of this hardware is to bring the top and bottom sashes together to reduce drafts. However, from a security standpoint it is relatively easy to get past them.
You can get additional brass pieces that will make your windows secure, and won’t look out of place (these are along the sides of the sashes, not between the top and bottom sashes). You might want to add those for the first floor windows... when you get to that point. They won’t have been on the original windows, but life has changed, right?

Good begets good....wonderful to witness! Thank you for putting your positive endeavor out in the world to witness and propagate! Restorative for sure, in more ways than one 😁 BTW I have seen plexiglass panels fitted into/over historic interior windows/cavities as weather barriers. Your skill and creativity might make that a seasonal option 🤷‍♀️ just a mention.

Kaleb, what an Amazing Buffet Gift from that woman. It's Absolutely Gorgeous!!!
...when you said "buffet", I never imagined it to be so large. I thought it was a smaller version without the top you have.
...the wood seems to match the door frame next to it.
...I think moving the buffet to the opposite wall is a perfect thing to do. It will look Awesome there.
You had Awesome weather for this video. I miss all that greenery. I live in the southwest where natural greenery is slim Pickens.
...Thanks for showing the beautiful sunset.
I was going to ask about the brick repair on this window, then I saw Kim's Post regarding this.
...but, Kaleb, could you please explain How this will be done? Thanks
I loved the way that You did this video this week. I felt as though I was right there as You were working.
...not that I don't on other videos. Maybe it was the Gorgeous day, who knows LOL
    Thanks for another Awesome Video.
Ps. Kim gets a "10" for being your model today & every day.
See You & Kim next video...have an Awesome week😁

Love the buffet. It is gorgeous.
The flooring will be spectacular too.
The window locks are just the right finishing touch for the windows. A little window bling. If a window had to be "off" then that's a good spot and not in the front of the house. One wonky window towards the back isn't bad for the age and condition of the house. Nice fix.
The "fabric" in the buffet could be old anti tarnish material for big sterling silver serving pieces. I don't think it would have been velvet. A buffet like that would have been ordered and made for very wealthy people.

Actually velvet would have been used. I have a mid 19th century buffet that has the original velvet in it. Very common to use velvet in the 19th century.
