Honestly most people wouldn’t care. First they didn’t really know what a sith was, partly because they hadn’t been seen in a 1000 years, but also because most people just didn’t understand the Jedi. There are old legends novels that mention that a lot beings didn’t understand the difference between the Jedi and the sith, just saw them as both mystical force users. Then you take in account the grand animosity for the Jedi and how the many were happy the Jedi were eradicated at the end of the clone wars, many would just say cool the sith are the ones who helped wiped out the Jedi so they aren’t bad to us.

That's pretty true. The empire citizens thought the jedi were domestic terrorists and weird space wizards unless they had a direct experience with them. However it is mentioned in the Plageuis book (that is legends however) that the Sith were forgotten and known as basically evil, and demonc but nobody really knew why.

Maybe it's because he was one, just one of two Siths, who also persecuted Jedi and either turned them to the Empire or killed them, controlling an army of force users to guard people against the Jedi? This would make some people's opinion change to a more favorable for the Sith, and perhaps dismiss the old stories as Jedi propaganda, I do think that some people would at least wonder if two Sith, that were to their knowledge safe guarding the republic against the separatists, since one of them were in fact Palpatine, would really be as demonic as Jedi claimed, for all they knew Palpatine was idealist and perhaps the kind of person to believe himself to be a descendant of the Sith order, which might actually turned out to be a huge paradox, I believe people or the general public would simply not believe that Palpatine was a Sith lord and think of that in terms of eccentricity he always shown, so for people who weren't in a close relationship with him and in his circle, Palpatine was merely a person who believed himself to be a sith lord,in a sense he pretended to be one in his free time doing some silly wizardry because he was unfortunately old enough to get a little senile, of course this would work in Palpatine's favor because it would than make it seem that Jedi attacked him merely because he was just pretending to be Sith and they just tried to murder the Chancellor of the Republic for trying to explore the opposing side of an historical conflict, and this in turn would make people wonder and question did the Jedi perhaps lie about certain historical facts , because they were unfavorable to the Jedi order.

    In short:
He didnt feel threatned by individuals wanting to hunt him down for being a Sith like Bane did and he thought that if the galaxy felt scared of him as a sith lord that would be great, so he didnt even try to hide it that much for those curious enough to do their research.
HOWEVER, he didnt want the average imperial citizen to know that he was a sith by revealing himself as one because the public feared the unknown even more than they feared him and they would compare him & the empire to the jedi & the republic, something he really didnt like and knew that would lead to a galactic-wide outrage hat was just too much trouble for him to deal with, much more so than some random assassins and rebels trying to take on him, so he'd rather not push that button.

We saw in Grand Moff Tratcha's rebellion (and that Gentis, in a sense) what might have happened if the Imperial Government, let alone the entire Galaxy, was made aware of Sidious' and Vader's Sith/Forceful identities. The resulting coup attempt by Tratcha and his fellow conspirators was foiled, but imagine half of the Galaxy arrayed against you because you are seen as one of those who betrayed the Republic and now betrayed the Empire. That would be a fascinating Infinities storyline.

I'm sure that the Jedi order's habit of taking small Force-sensitive children (even infants) from their parents, didn't help matters any.
They never seem to go into detail as to just how the Order seemed to easily acquire so many of these children, but it makes sense that if the Jedi acquired some of them by buying the children as slaves (such as Anakin), then if wouldn't be too far of a stretch, to imagine that more than one of these children being "given" to the order, was the result of Jedi mind tricks used on the parents.
Hence the reason, why all Jedi Padawan-learners were strictly prohibited from contacting their birth parents (they probably weren't even allowed to know who and where their real families were).

    • @ramarblood7697

      This again?
Would you think having untrained, strong in the force , children, with powers capable of destruction and murder, and god help you if a Emotional Untrained Teenager has that sorta power without Jedi training to calm them the hell down.
Heck some parents even give the Jedi Order their children in order to get their children into a better sorta of life.
And no, Jedi did not use Jedi mind tricks on parents in most cases i'd assume, they would usually ask the birth parents for permission, though they did have legal authority to take them if they so choose.

While it may be true that someone born with "godlike powers" should be trained in how to properly use (and NOT use) their power, they should not be wrenched from their families and homes in order to do so.
And NO group should have the legal authority to yank a child from a loving home, simply because they see the child as a potentially very valuable asset.
And while it may be true that the old Jedi Order did a great deal of good for the galaxy, the fact remains that they were still a cult.
A classic cult strategy, is to deny their members access to the outside world; even to their own friends and families ("You don't need them anymore. WE are your family now. WE are the only friends that you need").
And that is what the Jedi did to the children whom they took into their Order.
Their parents were forbidden from visiting them at the temple (or vice-versa), or from having contact with them of any kind. Even as adults, Jedi were not allowed access to records about their birth families.
Padawans were taught from a young age, that romantic or familial love were bad things, and that the only ones whom they should allow themselves to have an emotional connection to, were their "brothers and sisters within the order".
And as for those who were either expelled from the Order, or failed the tests, or simply chose to leave it?...
Were they given contact information about their birth families, transportation back to them, and some sort of severance pay to live off of until they reached home?
      Nope.
They were made to leave the Order with not much more than the robes on their backs, and no understanding of how to live in the real world.
If that doesn't say "cult" I don't know what does.

end goals vs getting there, palpatine saw basically the entire galaxy as potential distractions from his focus on growing in power, it's part of why he wanted the death star, so he could focus more on growing his power while that assumed the focal point of controlling through fear and being wide scale destructive back up for the empire instead of him, his end goal was always ultimate power and total control, though iirc in dark empire he hadn't fully regained full capability or reached the strongest peak it was feasibly possible for him to reach, but then also at that point subtle political control wasn't going to work anymore in a post civil war galaxy full of rebel propoganda about him anyway

That sentiment of people viewing the Sith as akin to the Jedi reminds me of Atton's words about them both. He said that many people(or just him) viewed the two as just "people with too much power". Obviously that's not really correct since the Jedi do try to do good even if they misstep. Though it makes sense how someone far away from both orders would view them that way since a lot of the conflicts are a result of those two powers fighting each other.

he'd been outed at that point anyway, and a lot of the empires worst actions were all attributed to him personally in rebel and new republic propoganda, so his options were reduced

That's why he very rearly showed the true extend of his power. In Dark Empire he really didn't have a choice, the empire was falling appart and he was dying due to clones' decay. The fact he could tear fleats and planets appart via force storm in that comic, doesn't mean he couldn't do it earlier, it just means he didn't want to risk revealing his Sith Identity. The most important power for the emperor was his political power. That's the reason why the most powerfull sith ever chose to build massive fleats, superweapons etc, instead of destroying planets and star systems with his force powers like Nihilus or Vitiate.

I heard that theory before, but it does not really convince me. First, by this time for almost everyone the term Sith would mean nothing. Just see how quickly in the Mandalorian series the Jedi are apparently forgotten by most already. And then, how many SAW a Jedi ever at all, let alone using some force ability? Most people had only heard of Jedi more like from a fairy tale. Finally, the Jedi had been seen as benevolent for what 20.000 years or so, at least for an immensely long time, and suddenly after a few years propaganda that would have all turned so much, that most would be happy they were gone, and Imperial Stormtroopers harassed them? Somehow I have a hard time to believe that.
There is just some stuff especially from the comics which doesn't convince me to fit with the movie canon.

Show that this mysterious energy does not just exist - but that it is put at the service of the Empire.
"We know that is this - and we know how better use it!"
It could also motivate force-sensitives to enter service in a variety of fields.

This is what I think Star Wars Theory keeps getting wrong in his What If videos, a politician who was found to be a Force user would be seen as an enemy to many suggestion vulnerable species as it undermined the Galactic Senate's ability to hold just voting. If he was outed as a Sith, the view of Jedi would not improve, however legends of their wars and effects on worlds would drive people to immediately distrust any attempt by Palpatine to establish a new government if he possibly could prevent them from jamming his communications to command the clones. Further research and they may have been able to successfully remove, identify, or even weaponize the inhibitor chip orders!
    (Order 65 is *particularly* interesting...
    - - - Palpatine: "Execute Order Sixty-..." *kshhh static noises* Palpatine: "Damn comms are being jammed!" *sees a holoscreen open and deafening audio plays* Holoscreen: "Execute Order Sixty *Five* ..." *stares in shock* Palpatine: "Wait! It’s true tho. With the Jedi dead or in hiding. If people found out Sidious was a Sith Lord. They probably would fear him only because of the sith’s history. Tho I am wondering. What about the Sith planet?. Dromond kass?. (Sorry I know I spelled the planet wrong). But my point on it being that the planet was loyal and built by the Sith empire. So I feel like they wouldn’t care if they knew the truth about Sidious and his old master. Because that planet was loyal to the Sith empire for billions of years and built be the sith.

While an interesting premise for a video it doesn't really seem to have been thought through all that thoroughly. If the galaxy at the start of episode 4 was barely familiar with or barely had any knowledge concerning Jedi who served the republic only 20 years prior, how could they possibly even know who or what a sith lord was considering that the sith were thought to have died out a thousand years ago? This isn't a slight agaisnt you or your efforts whatsoever, you're actually one of favorite SW youtubers, it's more of a another SW fallacy.
