Thank you very much for this video at the time which helped me a lot for an E 200 from 2005 elegance... Best regards
Hi there - it is most likely to be your alarm siren that is draining your battery. The way to ensure it is the siren is to fully charge your battery and lock the car manually (not activating the alarm). Leave the car for few days (eg: 2days ) and see if on the 3rd day the battery drains out. If it does, therefore - your issue will be somewhere else. PS: Factory fitted alarm has battery that leak over the circuit board - causing electrical issues. Best of luck and let us know how it goes.
This week the siren was replaced. It started to drain 2Amps. And lost communication. Also the seat module went bad 3amp drain and a fuel pump relay fell apart. This car keeps braking for the guy.
Update...........Fuse 8 is now widelly known to be siren which holds the whole alarm inside and a lithium battery that dies. Remove siren or replace. Bridge is still easier. At the time of video there was not much info related to fuse 8 and all wiring schematics were blocked on that fuse for security reasons. (Alarm) Car came back 6 months ago and the loop was removed and alarm siren was replaced.
Have this issue ongoing with our '11 ML350. Have looked at all fuses and not found any draw (measured with muti-meter, no need to pull them). Will follow other's recommendation to check the stereo wiring and the front power seats. Won't speculate further until the easy stuff has been tested.
Battery drain fixed 2003 w211 Had Faulty starter motor, disconnected permanent live wire. Left car over night and it stopped draining battery changed starter motor everything was good. Also I heard some people had issue with alternator too
I've had various causes for drains on MBs. On an R500, I had a failed cluster module - it still worked, it just kept all the audio modules awake. The diag consisted of connecting DAS to the CAN buses and watching to see 'who' (in this case, the KOMBI/CLUSTER) was keeping the bus wake. On my 05 E500 - water leaking into trunk corroded a connector on the right side of the car, where I think the satellite radio module would connect just below the right side hinge, behind the interior covers. When this connector corroded, it bridged 12v to my pink wire CAN - this fired the COMAND head-unit. Eventually the corrosion bridge to ground and popped a 5a fuse in the trunk PRE-fuse where the spare is. SO, in some cases, you can pull a fuse and stop the draw but that may not indicate WHY a module is drawing. In the cases above, one module was bad but disconnecting the AGW saved the battery - but was not the problem. In another case, voltage leaked to the BUS, which then killed COMAND.
There is a thread on some mercedes oil seeps into the wiring harness like a wick. And it causes a big mess in the computers. Crazy how all these computerized cars keep braking.
Did you pull the power connector from the passenger seat? Drivers seat? Those are common draw issues. I also found fuse 8 in my w209 pulls .1 amp. Pulled it and got the drain down to .01. put it back in since I need it for the locks. was thinking of putting a remote relay in for the security system power. PITA electronics in a super reliable car. Also you can find draw without pulling the fuse by measuring mv across the fuse. search u tube for car wizard battery drain on his slk320. What makes the beep beep beep noise when you lock this car? In mine the noise keeps getting fainter, now I need to put my ears on the hood when I lock the car to even hear it, it’s so faint.
I had a similar problem. Out of nowhere one day my battery was dead my 2005 E320 CDi . I searched and found the fan on the audio gateway wasn't going to sleep. I wired a relay from the only on power, when the ignition was on, terminal to power the audio gateway, and it's been working for about 5 years like that.
The drains on my MB E320 were severely clogged. From the drainage downspout, located behind the front fender liner, next to the alarm siren, drain water was trickling down the siren bracket and into the siren. Shorted it out. I even noticed rust on the bracket where the drain water was getting into the siren. The result? The computer thought the alarm was permanently engaged, and a continuous steady draw from the battery ensued, even when everything was completely turned off on the car. One of the nasty culprits of the amp draw.
My friend hello from Turkey I have I model same problem.I disconnected all circuits front and back side sam unit as well front ceiling light unit but still 30 mm amp current observed.my master sad that only two possibilitys.1- front dashboard 2-ignition switch. We disconnected dasboard but still 30 mm amp current observed. We changed ignition unit first than shut down signals electronicly sends to rear sam module but we had still some drain. And we found amplifier that serious drain.we connected that line to ignition than 45 sn car was going to sleep mode and current was degreas to 0,10 amp somethink like that.I hope its works your car.Fisrt problem that the car doesnt change to sleeep mode because igniter unit doesnt sand signal to sam unit.Thats the only one way to switch sleep mode trought from igniter unit.Than you can find from sam wich system drain the battery.
