Are you talking about Washington state because I just moved from Southern California to thurston county and I’m looking for a fellowship and I was thinking about going there so maybe I’ll see you there.
wow thats awesome. Yes Washington State. They are super friendly and helpful. Made me and my daughter feel like we always knew them. Also google or bing refrences send you to a church in costa masa for some reason, so go to their web page direct if needed. FYI
Hi Andrew Stone - that's fantastic that you went to church. I'm praying for you that you get there more often. "For he that has will be given more... is what Mike just finished speaking at minute 17 - as he goes into the second parable" I fond out that if I wanted to do something in the way of obedience, when I took the first step, then God rewards in abundance. Whether it's going to church, or just eating a pizza - you get an acquired taste. Thanks for sharing this on this feed - I'm going to be encouraged every day as I pray for you, bro. God can answer prayers and give you life abundantly. But remember - Satan loves to discourage you = like the parable of the sower, so that Satan will make it look like it's too hard, too 'christianly' etc., and will be like the birds in the parable that ate up the seed. Don't get discouraged. If you have any prayer requests, let me know at wphildebrand@gmail.com and I love to pray for you. God will keep you strong !!!
Thank you so much for sharing the gospel...I have recently opened my heart to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For far too long I have shied away because of my bad experiences with the Jehovah's Witness organization in my younger years. When I think about my life I am so ashamed and realize how much time I have wasted on things that have no real reward. I had no idea that we gain salvation through the grace of GOD through faith. Such a loving and fulfilling promise! Thanks again for your ministry.
Blessings to you Melissa 🙏 There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. And God works all things for good to those who 💖 Him. It may seem like wasted time. But I bet in 3 years, He has shown you how he can use it to push you further and closer to Him than you ever thought possible 🙏 Love you sister!! I am so Thankful for this ministry, so I can be prepared to talk to those in organizations or x of like JW. 🙏💖🙏
Do not be ashamed. Every bad experience you've gone through our Lord and Savior will use for good. You could speak to Jehovah witnesses better cause you know their book and you know its false. The Lord called your name and opened your eyes. Thats a blessing. Love you
Something I love about the parables is that it seems like every time I go back and read them a new angle of the story hits me. At different points in my life they bring new and deeper meanings.
I've been doing a lot of studies about the God who found me after 43 years of my life, your teachings gave me a lot of insightful informations about the loving God we have in Jesus
This is why i love this series. Been in church for over 30 years and no preacher has explained the birds in the mustard tree. I just thought it was insignificant and never really looked at it.
I really wish you could do a series like this on Ecclesiastes. Both this series and finding Jesus in the Old Testament have been profound, enlightening, and entertaining, and I would *LOVE* to see the same on all the wisdom that Ecclesiastes holds
Such a valuable teaching. The parables are too often mis-read or mis-used by those seeking to undermine the message. Thanks, Mike. God bless the ministry.
Mike, your teachings sure are uplifting for me. Thank you. I love a pastor who is strong enough to give a strong teaching and yet says they don't know it all. So many teachers act as if it's their way or the highway. You give solid bible based teaching. Solar scriptura all the time.
Thank you for your solid biblical teaching. You are my primary Bible teacher. I actually have a real fear of being misled by the “birds nesting in the branches” because I didn’t grow up in the church, and I’ve never felt like I belonged at any church. I appreciate all the study you’ve done to have become the best teacher I’ve ever heard. You get a little too nerdy for me, sometimes, but maybe I’ll understand those super Bible nerd things one day. 🙏
Thank you for sharing Brother Mike. This teaching has been very helpful. Blessings to you and your family always in the Holy, Precious and Mighty Name of Jesus. 🙌🏻❤🙌🏻
Thank you Mike ..... the very idea of the possible results of shining for Jesus/sharing the gospel brings me great joy. Thus I am constantly praying for the grace of God to just SHINE and SHARE.
Started this series and then my pastor started a series on parables. Wow. How cool is that! I love every video you have ever done. Thank you, you are a blessing. Side note as one who comes from tornado alley, you don’t evacuate in a tornado warning, you seek shelter. 😁. It’s ok. Your Californianess is forgiven. ❤️
Not that this is important, but there really is a mustard tree that grows up to 25 feet tall. It's not the same type of mustard that we think of that goes on sandwiches and stuff, but it's probably what Jesus was talking about and it's found in the middle east and it comes from a tiny seed.
I always think of Christians as the moon. Are we the light of the world? Yes. But our light is merely a reflection of a greater, more incredible light. The light of the Son!
Hi Mike. HUGGGZZZZZZZ!!!!!!! I know. I live near Redding. Bill Johnson used to be such a FAB teacher, and the music coming outta Bethel Redding used to be so uplifting. They have lost their way. Please join with me in praying for their return to what the Bible teaches. Its so sad.
@@llllllllllllllIIlIllIIllIIIIll Like I said, I live near Redding. Its heartbreaking to see a teacher and a church go so far from what the Bible teaches. I've read the book that Mike referred to. My heart breaks. I pray.
MM 14:45 - amen- shining our light is not equivalent to expecting people to share all our convictions and views on end times (and I’ll add - political opinions)! Just the GOSPEL! thank you, Mike.
1 love what Mike says at 13:25 about our responsibility being to share the light - not to hide behind the excuse of it being too difficult to share, or just plain timidity. I remember recently I took a WaterProof Bible (do a search under Waterproof Bible on the Internet) into the hot pool where they have hundreds of people and 39 degrees Celsius hot water. I was able to share my "light" with tens and twenty people, because I was obviously a visible influence. If it had been a book on Buddha, or Allah, it would not have been so perfect as it being a book of God, and I explained that "only God can make a miracle of a Bible' because He is the only one who parted the Red Sea by a miracle and drowned Pharaoh's army. But I did what I could, and let my light shine. This way I made hundreds aware of God's Word, the Bible !! :)

Liked and subscribed. I was thinking about the parables lately and wanted to hear good teaching on the topic. Liked what you said about the gospel being that which is revealed. The kingdom of heaven is like - a whole bunch of things happening on earth right now.
Brilliant. Learning so much from this series. 56 minutes 18 the passage is Matthew 13 not 11. Always check your sources, no one is perfect... except...
The mustard seed parable is exactly where your bible version makes an enormous difference on your beliefs. In the NIV it says: Mark 4:31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. 32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” In the KJV the word is this: Mark 4:31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. Now lets look at the word less and what it means. LESS, a. Smaller; not so large or great According to this it would be wrong... HOWEVER, less has a second meaning and it is this: LESS, adv. Not so much; in a smaller or lower degree; as less bright or loud; less beautiful; less obliging; less careful. This definition it fits perfectly well. It is a seed that does not stand out among all other seeds, and is seen as lesser than others. This fits PERFECTLY with what the Lord says about taking the lowly things of the world and making them great. 1 Cor 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: This is why your bible words matter and you can't pull from things like the NIV. It does make a difference, and next time lets not conclude that Jesus is wrong, or is exaggerating to make a point.
O man I had to come get me some winger time where I know God is in this ministry. No manipulation here just pure strength God’s strength. I not trying to flatter or get an I love you heart it’s just been a rough day and I know where I can go to here some solid stuff. And actually what set me off is I was waiting to watch the trump rally in New Mexico and I can’t believe the songs he has playing right before he comes out. Sympathy for the devil by The Rolling Stones and play with fire. I mean what the heck is that all about. It’s creepy I’ll tell you what. Anyway everyone never ever ever take our eyes off of Christ. Thanks Man
Hi Mike, I first want to say how much I love and appreciate your teaching; your ministry is a great blessing. I’d like to respectfully disagree however with your take on the birds in the parable of the mustard seed. To be honest I hadn’t thought about it very deeply before and only had a vague sense of it meaning something positive. Having given it more careful consideration though the two words “so that” stand out in the passage and lead me to a different conclusion than yours. If we understand “so that” to be something like “the purpose for which” or “in order to” then surely the mustard seed isn’t sewn to grow into a large tree “so that” evil could infiltrate the church. I think I would have to lean more towards the divine blessing take on this verse. If you read this, I’d love to hear your response.Thank you again for being a faithful teacher of God’s Word. God bless you!
Interesting! I hadn't heard of this "key" before but it certainly makes sense. I can't tell you how many times I have spoken with the Mother God people and they pull this "mystery" crap. It feels so obvious to me if you actually read your bible it makes sense!
A thought, the leaven of the pharisees, they were puffed up with pride because they had the knowledge and oracles of GOD. JESUS didnt say beware of leaven but of their leaven. The right leaven, THE WORD, in truth, a repentant heart before GOD, can be amazingly good:) JESUS bless you mike!!!
Thanks Mike :), this was really helpful looking into the parrables like this. I'm supprised you didn't share the view where the seed, and the leven, are both the Gospel message inside someone's heart. And that in time, it's fruit is known by a change that is noticable.
Using the parable of the sower as a template, you can easily figure out all the parables. My favorite is the parable of the good Samaritan, which, not surprisingly at all, turns out to be the entire gospel message, from Adam to Jesus, and even to His soon return, all in just seven verses. It starts with the lawyer asking Jesus a question intending to trap Him. The lawyer asks what he must do to inherit eternal life. The answer is coded within the parable. A certain man (all men in a sense, Adam, the first man specifically) is going DOWN from Jerusalem (peace with God) to Jericho, a city (cursed by God), and gets robbed (Satan), robbed of his garment (a symbol of Adam's authority, of God's righteous covering over Adam. Think of a kingly robe, Adam was made regent king, but after he sinned, Satan became the prince and power of the air) and wounded him (physical decay, illness etc ... And left him half dead, ("The day you eat of it you will surely die". Dead spiritually). A priest (the system of animal sacrifices for sin) and a Levite (Levies were in charge of the Tabernacle, the meeting place with God) passed by on the other side of the wounded dying man. (Neither was able to permanently fix the problem, they were insufficient. The blood of animals was temporary, and God wanted a dwelling place made without hands.) A Samaritan came and had compassion (Jesus) pouring in oil (Holy Spirit) and wine (his blood) set him on his own animal (gives mankind His own authority and power) brought him to an inn and took care of him (restores my soul, the Good Shepherd), next day went He left, He gave them to the innkeeper ("I will pray the Father send another comforter, Holy Spirit), paid two denarii, (two days wages. Remember also that a day with the Lord is as a thousand years, so two thousand years pay) and announced that He'll pay whatever more is needed when He comes back, (He IS coming back!!) The gospel message hidden in seven verses that most people think is just about being nice to people.
Also, love the comment on preaching the gospel and not trying to push all the theological baggage too. That can come later. Preach Christ crucified. All of the debates can come as the believer becomes hungry for that. I see this most often with LGBTQ+ issues, it's like some Christians expect all the same-sex attraction and gender dysphoria issues to simply go away when people make the decision to trust in Jesus. As if all of their own sin issues simply vanished the day they trusted the Lord.
Amen. Re. us being the light, that isn't just about evangelism. We're not supposed to just win souls throughout all nations. We're told to make disciples in all nations. How do we make disciples? Nine times in the NT, believers were instructed to follow church leaders. Follow me as I follow Christ. The things you have seen and heard from me, tell faithful men, who will tell others also. Remember your leaders and follow their example. Etc. I need to shine in church, and not just in the world.
We are to be righteous (free gift from God) that needs to be taken by faith. If we are to posses it, we will be righteous, not by works but by faith shown through our works (actions). Righteousness that leads to Holiness. Without which we cannot enter the Kingdom. I 100% agree to be light. No point evangelicensing people to hell. More people are going to hell through churches. People are deceiving themselves.
The message of the gospel is not corrupted by time on Earth. We preach the same gospel that Paul and the apostles preached. It has not changed through time. The gospel is the same truth now and forever. How can atheists explain the perfection of the gospel message? How is it that so many Christians hear the Spirit and understand the mystery of the gospel? Of course it's because it is True and alive with the Spirit! The Holy Spirit testifies that what we read in the Word is true! We then come to know that it is true. Atheists cannot explain how and why this is happening. We know why it is happening; it is because the Holy Spirit of God is real and His Word is true!
Vicki, what you are saying comes from a much-quoted statement of Francis of Assisi: “Preach the gospel at all times. If necessary, use words.” These are the words of a man, not the Bible. The Bible does tell us that our behavior should reflect our commitment to Christ and may be the impetus for someone to come to faith in Him (see 1 Peter 3:1-2), but it also says (Jesus speaking in Matthew 28:19-20) that we are to “make disciples of all nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” That can’t be done without words. So, the words of the Bible should be the focus, with our behavior supporting the message. If someone is led to the message by our behavior, praise the Lord! But discipleship cannot happen without many biblical words.
As far as the seed I thought of massive a mustard tree can get. I think here in Tx anyway most think if the mustard green but there it is a mustard tree. Oh of course Mike got tonthat b4 I could finish..lol.
Did you check the original? As in Greek? While Google is far from foolproof this is their translation from the Greek: as a mustard seed when sown on the earth smaller than all the seeds in the earth. That is, it looks to me like Jesus is referring to size, not something else.
@@cherylcogan3542yeah that makes sense, I think it’s meant more of an illustration rather than it’s literally the smallest seed that can possibly exist throughout the earth
I watched your presentation and I agree with most of what you've said. But I will present a brief rebuttal to this video on my live stream Friday night. If you want to watch it, feel free to do so.
Thank you for this video! I use the parable of the Sower to examine the condition of my heart. Also, I'm amillennial and I and the others I know believe the Kingdom of God proliferated through the preaching of the Gospel, not through politics. I have been shocked to know that there are popular post-millennials who believe you're suppose to impose the theocratic Mosaic laws on unbelieving nations which is very disturbing.
Hey! I know its been super long buti just noticed this comment. If you're still interested i recommend checking out Ryan Reeves. Very well informed man and a lot of historical content on his channel. Hope this helps . God bless 😁

At 5151 views and 144 comments (with 216 likes and 3 non likes)) I can see at 4:56 am on Sept 18 that God's Word DOES penetrate. Hebrews 4:12 says it 'penetrates to the dividing of the soul and the spirit, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart' . Praise God I saw this demonstrated last night, as at our Celebrate Recovery meeting at FAC we had 17 men present (on the 17th) - and before, in our STEP study, I really saw for the first time as I was digging deeper, how many many amends I had written down. How many things I had been unthankful for. For others looked into our family history and it was the WORST because of the constant denials. So Mike says, at 17:07 he says that we need to be careful how we listen. we are responsible for responding to what we hear. It is also interesting that he says that whatever is said in the dark will be proclaimed on the housetop. Take an example (speaking metaphorically) - when I was in Switzerland (I'm from Canada) and saw the way people thought and expressed themselves - it was as if there was a reason for everything. If they had fingers, they knew what fingers were fore. Eyes for seeing, ears for hearing. Jesus expresses (thru Mike) that the eyes were made for seeing - and we have to be careful that we see correctly. Verse 22 of Mark 4 (Jesus' second parable) states that "For there shall be nothing hidden, except to be disclosed; nor is anything secret, except to come to light. (23). Let any0ne with ears to hear listen... and he goes on to say that the measure we have to give will be the measure that we get. I see that, however that my resentments and my guilt (at my mother) for having such a messy house, and not seeing and hearing properly - was portrayed in this verse, that whatever is 'spoken in the dark' will be proclaimed on the housetops. The amazing sense, that the Holy Spirit brought to light the tremendous secrets of my heart as I opened myself to let these out. This is not for anyone else (I'm making a personal disclosure here: If you don't want to listen this is for me. I'm going to cut / paste this onto my journal. But here, briefly, is my AMENDS list of things that 1 am bringing to the light. TO: pastors I've had resentment towards including Mr Galliaford whom I said in a letter "GO TO HELL" which was a result of my Father saying anyone with a TV goes to hell. - to the many pastors my family hated (mom hated them cause they told the truth) and passed it on to the others in the family. Dave was skeptical of pastors, etc., - people who my mother hurt I owe amends to. - people who called me unfaithful for not sending my mother a loving card (passing on guilt to me because they thought it was my 'unloving' attitude causing her to hold resentments). - people who blamed me for my mothers action (not visiting regularly) - my team in ROME for not wanting to contribute to a sewing machine ($7.00) I think. - dad, not thanking him for his support and prayer. - Uncle Victor for his insistence that I be excluded from the inheritance - and then of course, myself, being responsible for telling this to Uncle Ben (who would listen) and from whom I thought was stymied at me for being so 'divisive' . - the last one was a new 'light' but I realize that this is my character defect. - thank God for HIS grace.
I think the birds making nests on the branches of the tree refer to something like science, democracy, human rights etc., in their genuine senses. These things need the value system of Christian society to bloom. They are not essential to God’s kingdom but certainly are not harmful to the church, just as birds do no harm to the trees.
@@darrenlee1480 1. Their worship sessions, top reason, members really worship with all their hearts. 2. As you asked for: strongly rooted in the Word. (Check out their sermons in youtube: City Harvest Church) Went there when I was studying in Singapore. Still go there time to time when I am in town.
Ancient Hebrew is amazing - it only has a vocabulary of 3000 words, not counting proper names of people, towns etc. So the OT can lend itself to different literal interpretations, but the message never changes! That is miraculous.
Jesus spoke in Parables for several reasons: Jesus was a Master of the parable. In his teaching, Jesus used parables often and to great effect. Parables were a good way to teach and Jesus was good at telling them. However there were more reasons than that for Jesus’s use of parables. 1 To Give His Enemies No Ground The enemies of Jesus were always waiting for him to say something they could use against him (Luke 11:53-54). By speaking in parables, Jesus was making it very hard for them. He could hardly be arrested for telling homely stories! The parables were evocative not provocative. By couching his teaching in parables, Jesus made certain points much clearer to true-hearted people than even plain language could have made them. At the same time, he was speaking indirectly and figuratively so that lawyers had nothing to accuse him of. When it would have been counterproductive to speak plainly in public, Jesus spoke in parables -a prudent strategy. The parable of the ten virgins is a simple story about people’s behaviour at a wedding (Matthew 25:1-13). Clearly, as the bridegroom in the story, Jesus is representing himself as God with the power to open and shut the doors of Heaven (Revelation 3:7). But nobody could prove he was saying that. 2 To Enlighten the True Hearted Jesus took advantage of occasions when multitudes flocked to hear him speak. Through the parables he could enlighten those whose hearts were sincere and receptive and who were hungering and thirsting for righteousness (Matthew 5:6). The word heart (by coincidence) starts with the word hear. The good heart hears God’s word, understands it, and seeks to know more about the kingdom of Heaven and God’s will. In the parables people found what they were looking for. The parable of the sower illustrates that the seed of God’s word grows and bears fruit in good hearts. When he had told this parable, Jesus said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear" (Matthew 13:1-9). Some people tune their ears to the word of God, and they understand the truth. 3 To Make People Think Jesus knew that not everybody would understand or give proper thought to his parables. Some people tune their hearts and ears to God’s word, whilst others deliberately block their ears to God’s voice. Yet others neither tune nor block their ears -Jesus told parables to challenge such folk. The parable of the two roads makes people think about where their souls are going, and to make the decision to "enter by the narrow gate" lest they be swept with the crowd down the broad way to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14). 4 To Divide Into Two After telling the parable of the sow, Jesus was asked by his disciples the question from which our present lesson takes its title. They asked, "Why do you speak to them in parables?" (Matthew 13:10). Jesus answered by quoting Isaiah, concerning people who have eyes but do not see, and have ears but do not hear (Matthew 13:11-17, Isaiah 6:8-10). In telling the parables, Jesus was bringing pressure to bear upon his listeners, to either open their spiritual eyes and ears and be enlightened, or to shut their eyes and ears tighter and be condemned. The parables not only make people think, they also make people choose. They bring people out of the grey area into the clearly black or white. The parables were a winnowing fork for Jesus, by which he was able to separate the wheat from the chaff. The parable of the sheep and the goats has this intention (Matthew 25:31-46). All who hear this story are forced to choose whether they will be among the sheep or the goats, and to be accountable for their decision.
"Jesus is representing himself as God with the power to open and shut the doors of Heaven (Revelation 3:7)." Explain this further, please! all else makes good sense, as it gives a complete analysis of the intended purposes
@@allentomas3417 HaKadosh means "the Holy One." At 6:10 the term designates God the Father. Moreover, in the Talmud, the Prayerbook and other Jewish writings, it is common to refer to God as "HaKadosh, barukh hu" ("the Holy One. blessed be he"). But here (and possibly at 1 Yn 2:20) this title refers to Yeshua. (So there is no need for a "blessed be he," because here the Holy One is talking about himself.) Thus Yeshua is to be identified with God. yet he is not the Father. Yeshua is also the True One, the one who is faithful and trustworthy. At Isaiah 22:20-22, Elyakim was given "the key of the house of David," that is, full authority to act on behalf of King Hezekiah in his household. Likewise Yeshua, "the Root and Offspring of David" (5:5,22:16), has full authority (Ml 28:18) to act on behalf of God, our King. Yeshua does not permit others to usurp this authority, yet he voluntarily shares "the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven" with those who commit themselves to him (Mt 16:19). Two others named Elyakim appear in the genealogies of Yeshua (Mt 1:13, Lk 3:30). In other words, He has administrative power and uncontested control. The open door that the Jewish synagogue and pagan cults were powerless to close is God's given opportunity to preach Christ to everyone who wants to listen. The Key of David is an Old Testament reference to the absolute sovereignty of God to open doors and close the mouth.
He is the One who has the key of David, who opens - and no one shuts, shuts - and no one opens. First of all, it should be noted that the key is a symbol of power. This is the image of Jesus Christ with decisive and absolute power that no one can dispute. Behind this there is a picture from the Old Testament. Hezekiah had a faithful servant, Eliakim, a householder, who alone could admit someone in the presence of the king. Isaiah heard God speak of His faithful servant Eliakim: “And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.” (Isa. 22.22). This picture is before John’s mental gaze. Jesus alone has the power to allow or not to allow anyone into the new Jerusalem, the new city of David
Mike Winger Another key is "thief in the night" and "watch" as proof of a pretribulation rapture. The ten virgins 5 watch 5 don't and are left behind to go through the tribulation. The good man of the house does not watch and his house is broken up. The faithful servant is doing the LORD's work and looking for HIS coming. The King's SON's wedding was ready but the others made light of it.
I've probably only told about 3 people about Jesus. Am I not saved? I have debilitating GAD and BPD. Those symptoms make it almost impossible to be social and function properly
Interesting as well as informative! Here are a couple of thoughts. The mustard seed might be thought to be a representative of a class of small seeds, sort of the poster child. As such it does not have to be the smallest seed in that class but rather the best representative of that class in that it also possesses other qualities such as you say it grows to be large and may be familiar to that audience. Thus it can refer to itself, a mustard seed, and also a ropesentaive of that class of small seeds, even if it is not the smallest. And why Jesus might use the mustard seed as the representative of small seeds and not the actual smallest seed might be just as you have said that the parables are meant to expose people's hearts and as such those so inclined to reject this parable Jesus gives enough rope (so to speak) in doing so for them to hang themselves with it. But to those that are open to receive that it can give them further insight as they posner what Jesus chose the mustard seed and not the actual smallest seed to exemplary represent that call of mall seeds. Thus it can serve both as a clue and an obstacle to cause one to stumble, that being determined by the condition of the hearer's heart. As for what the birds might represent it seems that options 2 and 3 may not be mutually exclusive in that it seems these birds can do two things, one, eat the mustard seeds that fall from that tree or two, take shelter in and under the branches of that tree. And God makes the rain fall on both the just and the unjust. As such all gentiles may take shelter under that tree and we see that western civilization and the spread of the gospel may benefit all in that it tends to bring about liberalism embodied in western culture in the sense of rule by law, freedoms such as freedom of religion, charity, tolerance, etc. As such even those who may not be part of the branch can nevertheless take shelter under that tree in that they benefit from growing up in a christian culture and may even identify themselves as being Christians. Thus the seed here seems to be more the good fruit in that any seed that falls from that tree grows other trees and not that tree, but that tree is the kingdom, and such the seed it bears seem to be the fruit that comes from the word and not the word as in the other parable. Also, at the same time, there are those that exploit that for their own gain (and thus tend to eat the seeds that fall from that tree) and justify that by claiming to be part of that tree when in fact they are not. Thus say as the gospel spreads to the new world by say the Spanish (or English, French, Dutch, etc) one can see both kinds of birds, those that benefit from the shelter from that tree (who receive the gospel or benefit from introduction of western culture) and those birds that eat the seeds that fall from that tree by exploitation in the name of the gospel and opprese and wipe out the natives through disease, wars, and oppression. Thus perhaps not all birds are equal in that since, just as the dove may typically stand for good while the vulture may typically stand for evil some of those birds may simply benefit from the shade of that tree while others eat other birds or the seed itself that falls from that tree. Some of those birds may simply benefit from the shade while others may eat the seeds that fall from that tree (or the other birds) as well. So maybe views 2 and 3 are not totally mutually exclusive but elements from each view can co exist in some sense. And thus if this parables foreshadows the future history of the church that seems to be what has happened all gave benefited from that tree while some have used it as a pretext to exploit others and oppose the good that comes from that tree and its seed while benefiting from it as well from its shade.
Hey Mike, did you confuse Amillenialism with Post Millenialism? You should try and talk to Jeff Durbin or Doug Wilson for a discussion on the Post Mil view. I find it very convincing
Cinnamonbuns13 That’s exactly what I thought when I heard him say that. Regardless, I think he’s right that the parable doesn’t really have anything to do with eschatology
For Mark 4:24, I am still kinda confused, how can "he who does not have, even what he does have will be taken from him" make sense? If you don't have, how can you have (and not have more) then have what you don't have taken from you? It might just be the English translation, it just seems like a strange paradox since it sounds black and white kinda mathematical. I do appreciate your point that, he that has ears to listen will be given more to hear or more ability to listen or something, and he that does not have ears to hear will be taken further and further into deafness or something like that
Whoever does not have the word (of the kingdom as said in Mathew), even what they have (earthly possessions) will be taken away. Death .. eternal death => Eternal damnation. Mike wingers explanation is good too. Such a parable can have multiple ideas. Some like the parable of the sower is more specific. They need ears to listen, because they don’t have books and scrolls. They are taught when they are young by hearing by parents and also in the synagogue. All by hearing, not by reading. Another thing, “listen” - is listen and obey or listen and follow … the Jewish word for it is “Shema” . As a a Jew, being said with emphasis, those who have ears …means you had better listen carefully (and obey) Based on the parable, if you do not understand the word of the Kingdom, the evil one will take it away from you. Please understand the Kingdom of God and his righteousness. Read for yourself and the Spirit will lead you. Discover it for yourself, like God will speak to you in the heart. Isn’t God a living God ? Perhaps what will reveal to you could be like a piercing. Truly truly a revelation. Paul prayed that wisdom and revelation will be given to Christ followers. The word of God is Jesus, check scripture for yourself, thus it is the Christ Spirit that speaks to you and not mere book learning.
@@Logic807 nice, I appreciate the Jewish/aramaic hebrew translation/understanding of the scriptures. & I know the Ruah Hakodesh " leads us into all truth" It does seem to imply different kinds of "having" since, if you dont have, you have nothing to be taken?? Always great hearing of Jesus believing in Yashua! Hamashiah!!
The mystery is manifold: • He is both Mashiach ben Yosef (in the first century), 𝘢𝘯𝘥 Mashiach ben David • haMashiach is Eloheynu incarnate • haMashiach is the Propitiation, who avenges Abel's blood • Salvation is open to 𝘢𝘭𝘭, provided we have Agàpé enough to deliver the Good News vis-à-vis 1 Cor 13:2 et alia
Mike I've asked a million times!!! I've subscribed to ur channel and watch all videos and love them, so I'll ask one more time do you think if someone commits suicide do they go to hell?
1. Suicide is a form of murder. Suicide is just as sinful as killing. And killing is a violation of the sixth commandment: «Thou shalt not kill» (Exodus 20:13). The only difference is that the killer kills another person, and the suicide kills himself. It is said of the murder: «Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man» (Genesis 9: 6). 2. Suicide is a game of God. A man who commits suicide rejects the authority of God over himself and assumes the role of judge and master of his life. 3. Suicide is a rebellion against the Creator. God created man for life. Man deprives himself of life, which is a rebellion against the Creator, who gave him life. God has plans for each of us (Jeremiah 29:11, «For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end») By committing suicide, a person crosses out all of God's plans. God wants us to have eternal life. Suicide crosses out God's plan of salvation and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for our sins (Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”) 4. Suicide is the product of Satan’s «to be led»: John 10:10a «The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy»; John 8:44 «Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it». 5. Jesus did not come to take, but to give us life: John 10: 10b «I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly..» 6. Our life belongs to God. No one has the right to take his own life or someone else's life: 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 «What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's». 7. The Bible calls suicide evil against itself: Acts 16: 25-34 «And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house». So suicide is a sin against God and himself.
Suicide is the worst sin in terms of consequences, because a person who has committed this because of spiritual and psychological weakness, despair and unreason, no longer has the opportunity to repent in life and find justification after death. The darkness of hell becomes the eternal abode of suicides. «... but he that endureth to the end shall be saved» - Mt. 10:22; «Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith» - Habakkuk 2:4; «Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it» - 1 Cor.10:12-13
Dear brother Winger ..Mark 4:23 "Take care WHAT you listen".the GK word is τι from τίς and yes it means WHAT, however the sence of the passage is "HOW you hear" see LK 8:18 "Take care then HOW you hear" the GK word is πως. The idea is when we listen to something, there is a right and a wrong way to HEAR. You can listen and be gracious or you can listen and be vindictive and judgemental without knowing all the facts, only a fool hears one side of the story, and makes a judgement. Often one passage sheds light on another passage, explaining it even more clearly. God bless.
Mark only had 8 chapters to begin with. Edit: Mark had 16 chapters but Ch. 16 originally only had 8 verses. There were no post resurrection verses. (Mark also doesn’t mention the virgin birth or Joseph.)
@@leef_me8112 Is that really the only way information comes to be known? Is that the entire extent of your sophistication? If so, I’m not sure why you would believe anything in genesis. In any case, Winger himself has a video about the shorter version of Mark. It is a well known historical fact. The shorter gospel was earlier and was disseminated in a different region of the Mediterranean than the eventual longer version. Why don’t you do a little research and get back to me. Take your time. Pique is not a good look for a Christian. I edited the original post. Mark had 16 chapters but the last chapter only had 8 verses. Post resurrection verses were absent.
First thing we need is the ruach of Yehovah. We also need to understand that Yehovah is not a trinity, and that Yeshua is his son. Then things will start to make sense. We also need to know CONTEXT, time period, time line, and WHO Yeshua is talking to. Once Yehovah gives us his ruach, all of Yeshua's parables will make sense. Mostly he was telling nation Israel that the kingdom of Yehovah had arrived, and they needed to repent and follow him so they could receive grace and the ruach once Yeshua was raised from the dead by Yehovah.
Mike, I had s thought about the mustard seed. It's the smallest IN COMPARRISON to the size of the size of the mature plant, as our faith should be. Just a thought.
Revelation 12:17 King James Version 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
mark ...you missing the point on the mustard seed ....its smallest seed that actually grows large enough to give shade for rest and birds to rest upon ....our telling the good news /mustard seed when planted can grow large upon a country .

So if it’s a mystery, why did Jesus say things such as: (paraphrase)you are the teacher of all Israel and yet you do not understand these things. Why do you say “how can I re-enter my mother’s womb and be born again?”
KJV makes the mustard seed much more defendable, and should be the only English translation used in apologetics. Too many translations use corrupted greek manuscripts from Alexandria which have been slightly altered to undermine the authority of God's word, including the NASB. Please read New Age Versions by G. A. Riplinger
Mike, you've got half of the mystery. Yes, the gospel of the kingdom was the mystery. However, you fail to realize what the "kingdom" is. This is so simple...just find every single passage in which Jesus describes the "kingdom". Once you do that, couple it with the fact that Jesus told Israel that their "kingdom" was going to be taken from them and given to others who will bear its fruit. So one aspect of the mystery is the gospel of the kingdom. The other aspect is that the kingdom was nothing like what Israel expected it to be. That is because the "kingdom" has nothing to do with an Old Covenant land promise made to a disobedient people who broke the covenant. Paul had already defined the mystery as Jew and Gentile being "co-heirs" of the inheritance and "of the same body". Since you hold to dispensationalism, you are blinded the real change that was taking place
You forget the Jewishness of what Jesus was saying. Three measures of meal is the friendship offering. Putting levin in the friendship offering was unthinkable. Insulting. Though there are mustard bushes that get rather large, not in Israel. The mustard there is the same as the US, and birds certainly cannot make their nests in it. Wanting the levin and the mustard seed to be a good thing, does not make it a good thing. Compare those two parables to Acts 20:29 - 31
so you mock what you don’t understand? our Creator has written this into our bible for a reason and you don’t try to understand it? try to find out what the Creator meant by this gospel? you make yourself a fool by trying to mix it with the kingdom gospel. what is your salvation gospel? if you’re following the kingdom it won’t happen. if you’re following the kingdom where is your ark? you think the bible has one message for everybody? seems you’ve spent too much time in churchianity!
Its not politically correct in so many circles, but how about a systemized gnostic teaching that says God is the first cause of evil.. This means there is no real kingdom or will or providence, morality, accountability, free will reception of the gospel, as evil also then comes from God. With this, that God hates most of the world, and did not die for them. We can open books and trace Calvinism to luciferin Gnosticism, yet we sit down with these characters and in all piousness talk theology, and attend their Christian universities.

Christianity cannot be a political power because of all that Mike said. It doesn’t take from cultures either because just like there’s no male or female in Christ there’s no Jew or Greek. Since men and women have different roles and desires so do different cultures. As long as a culture isn’t based on sin and removes sinful parts Christianity doesn’t need you to change your culture.

Went to church yesterday; First time in 13 years. Thank you Pastor Mike for helping me find fellowship. Calvery Chapel Olympia.
That is wonderful!
FYI
Yeah I’m a little bit away from costa masa now but more than likely we’ll be heading for Olympia Calvary. God bless
Hi Andrew Stone - that's fantastic that you went to church. I'm praying for you that you get there more often. "For he that has will be given more... is what Mike just finished speaking at minute 17 - as he goes into the second parable"
I fond out that if I wanted to do something in the way of obedience, when I took the first step, then God rewards in abundance.
Blessings to you Melissa 🙏
There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus.
And God works all things for good to those who 💖 Him.
It may seem like wasted time.
But I bet in 3 years, He has shown you how he can use it to push you further and closer to Him than you ever thought possible 🙏
Love you sister!!
That's the beauty of the whole Word of God!

Solar scriptura all the time.
he calls God evil too, though, a big misnomer.
Wonderful..
God bless to our warrior in CHRIST
Thank you for sharing Brother Mike. This teaching has been very helpful. Blessings to you and your family always in the Holy, Precious and Mighty Name of Jesus. 🙌🏻❤🙌🏻

Good reminder for us not to worry about what the soil does and simply to plant the seed.

Thanks so much mike. Really love these. Going to use some of this material for a high school bible camp. The Word is being sown in portland oregon.
32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”
In the KJV the word is this: Mark 4:31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
Now lets look at the word less and what it means.
LESS, a. Smaller; not so large or great
According to this it would be wrong...
HOWEVER, less has a second meaning and it is this:
LESS, adv.
1 Cor 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
This is why your bible words matter and you can't pull from things like the NIV. It does make a difference, and next time lets not conclude that Jesus is wrong, or is exaggerating to make a point.
I hope Mike sees this. 🤔🤔🤔
Only the KJV does,for me
Parables are understood when we recieve
Jesus Christ as our savior

Therefore can never be wrong

Wonderful
Interesting! I hadn't heard of this "key" before but it certainly makes sense. I can't tell you how many times I have spoken with the Mother God people and they pull this "mystery" crap. It feels so obvious to me if you actually read your bible it makes sense!
Hi Mike, idk if you do this, but you should start sharing clips of your sermon series. It’s rich. Good, godly rich. Thank you for ministry. I mean it.
That sounds interesting. I never heard of that before.
The blood of animals was temporary, and God wanted a dwelling place made without hands.)
A Samaritan came and had compassion (Jesus) pouring in oil (Holy Spirit) and wine (his blood) set him on his own animal (gives mankind His own authority and power) brought him to an inn and took care of him (restores my soul, the Good Shepherd), next day went He left, He gave them to the innkeeper ("I will pray the Father send another comforter, Holy Spirit), paid two denarii, (two days wages. Remember also that a day with the Lord is as a thousand years, so two thousand years pay) and announced that He'll pay whatever more is needed when He comes back, (He IS coming back!!)
The gospel message hidden in seven verses that most people think is just about being nice to people.
As if all of their own sin issues simply vanished the day they trusted the Lord.
yes, these such are major obstacles to overcome, thank you.
Amen. Re. us being the light, that isn't just about evangelism.
Nicely done
Share the gospel at all times, speak if necessary means your life should do most of the speaking.
Kathleen S. LaRoche I know. It just didnt sound like he knew what it meant, so I was explaining.

King James version says the mustard seed is the LEAST of all seeds (not the smallest).
Did you check the original? As in Greek? While Google is far from foolproof this is their translation from the Greek:
as a mustard seed when sown on the earth smaller than all the seeds in the earth.
That is, it looks to me like Jesus is referring to size, not something else.
@@cherylcogan3542yeah that makes sense, I think it’s meant more of an illustration rather than it’s literally the smallest seed that can possibly exist throughout the earth

Praise God I saw this demonstrated last night, as at our Celebrate Recovery meeting at FAC we had 17 men present (on the 17th) - and before, in our STEP study, I really
saw for the first time as I was digging deeper, how many many amends I had written down.
Dave was skeptical of pastors, etc.,
- people who my mother hurt I owe amends to.
- people who called me unfaithful for not sending my mother a loving card (passing on guilt to me because they thought it was my 'unloving' attitude causing her to hold resentments).
- people who blamed me for my mothers action (not visiting regularly)
- my team in ROME for not wanting to contribute to a sewing machine ($7.00) I think.

If we have the key to all of the parables, why is there still alternative interpretations when using the same key?
you must utilize the proper key, lad
Ancient Hebrew is amazing - it only has a vocabulary of 3000 words, not counting proper names of people, towns etc. So the OT can lend itself to different literal interpretations, but the message never changes! That is miraculous.
Jesus spoke in Parables for several reasons: Jesus was a Master of the parable. In his teaching, Jesus used parables often and to great effect. Parables were a good way to teach and Jesus was good at telling them. However there were more reasons than that for Jesus’s use of parables.
1 To Give His Enemies No Ground
The enemies of Jesus were always waiting for him to say something they could use against him (Luke 11:53-54).
2 To Enlighten the True Hearted
Jesus took advantage of occasions when multitudes flocked to hear him speak.
3 To Make People Think
Jesus knew that not everybody would understand or give proper thought to his parables.
4 To Divide Into Two
After telling the parable of the sow, Jesus was asked by his disciples the question from which our present lesson takes its title.
"Jesus is representing himself as God with the power to open and shut the doors of Heaven (Revelation 3:7)."
Explain this further, please!
all else makes good sense, as it gives a complete analysis of the intended purposes
Mike Winger
Another key is "thief in the night" and "watch" as proof of a pretribulation rapture.
Love Jesus with all your heart, confess with your mouth he's Lord and savior and believe he rose.
Hello is really nice explanation! Is there a Spanish version? I can sher with some one that doesn't understand English
I have a tendency to be timid as well. I am kind of quiet. 😭😟I don't like that about myself.
I too believe cockroaches are evil, Mike.
Its so weird how they put new age ads on Christian videos 😰
you weird too, sure
God preached the Gospel to Abraham. Galatians 3:8
& I know the Ruah Hakodesh " leads us into all truth"
It does seem to imply different kinds of "having" since, if you dont have, you have nothing to be taken??
Always great hearing of Jesus believing in Yashua! Hamashiah!!
@@toptrollking thank you. Yes, I think you are right. Since parables always contain something spiritual, could it be that “thing” be taken away?
The mystery is manifold:
• He is both Mashiach ben Yosef (in the first century), 𝘢𝘯𝘥 Mashiach ben David
• haMashiach is Eloheynu incarnate
• haMashiach is the Propitiation, who avenges Abel's blood

Suicide crosses out God's plan of salvation and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for our sins (Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”)
4. Suicide is the product of Satan’s «to be led»:
John 10:10a «The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy»; John 8:44 «Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it».
5. Jesus did not come to take, but to give us life:
John 10: 10b «I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly..»
6. Our life belongs to God. No one has the right to take his own life or someone else's life:
1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 «What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's».
7. The Bible calls suicide evil against itself:
Acts 16: 25-34 «And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

How would YOU know? Were you there?
Mostly he was telling nation Israel that the kingdom of Yehovah had arrived, and they needed to repent and follow him so they could receive grace and the ruach once Yeshua was raised from the dead by Yehovah.
good insight
Mike, I had s thought about the mustard seed. It's the smallest IN COMPARRISON to the size of the size of the mature plant, as our faith should be. Just a thought.
yes, a good way to believe as you grow in the word of truth
Revelation 12:17
King James Version
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
mark ...you missing the point on the mustard seed ....its smallest seed that actually grows large enough to give shade for rest and birds to rest upon ....our telling the good news /mustard seed when planted can grow large upon a country .

Whew... around minute 17:00 he gets into the second parable and talks about the person who "has" will be given more. Sounds like a measuring scale. Praise God I saw this demonstrated last night, as at our Celebrate Recovery meeting at FAC we had 17 men present (on the 17th) - and before, in our STEP study, I really
saw for the first time as I was digging deeper, how many many amends I had written down. How many things I had been unthankful for. For others looked into our family history and it was the WORST because of the constant denials. So Mike says, at 17:07 he says that we need to be careful how we listen. we are responsible for responding to what we hear.
So if it’s a mystery, why did Jesus say things such as: (paraphrase)you are the teacher of all Israel and yet you do not understand these things. Why do you say “how can I re-enter my mother’s womb and be born again?”
Hey
KJV makes the mustard seed much more defendable, and should be the only English translation used in apologetics. Too many translations use corrupted greek manuscripts from Alexandria which have been slightly altered to undermine the authority of God's word, including the NASB. Please read New Age Versions by G. A. Riplinger
The KJV was translated from Greek manuscripts.
@Johnathan Bartholomew >KJV in the only version we should be using as Christians.
Not a true statement. Even the KJV has some errors in it.
DROP THE MIC!🎤🚮..............amen!
Why?
I know the gospel and I know the earth is not a spinning ball flying through space 15:12 !!!
Just like Joshua knew it Joshua 10:12,13
AMEN!!!!
This does not compute. God is reason, and nothing unreasonable, will come from Him.

Couldn’t the birds eating up the seeds be anti-Gospel propaganda that originates among the nations?
oh, yeah, propaganda is prevalent in the christian religion, here too(example - God kills!
The parable of the seed spread on different soils. The moral is that you have no control in your salvation.
What if you clean the rocks out the soil. What if you till and fertilize. What if you pull out the weeds and thorns. Sounds like choices to me.
@@blessed2breath some simply can not seem to want to learn, beats me, hey
the birds being a damaging infiltration doesnt make much sense. birds nesting in a tree dont harm the tree.

Only a chosen few understand the, "Parable of the 10 virgins."
But I'll give you a clue----It does NOT agree with OSAS Theology!
love your passion, but please get rid of the catholic tares
Its not politically correct in so many circles, but how about a systemized gnostic teaching that says God is the first cause of evil.. This means there is no real kingdom or will or providence, morality, accountability, free will reception of the gospel, as evil also then comes from God. With this, that God hates most of the world, and did not die for them. We can open books and trace Calvinism to luciferin Gnosticism, yet we sit down with these characters and in all piousness talk theology, and attend their Christian universities.
You must be in the only word of God first of all which is only the KJV Bible. Number below is 8161 = 1618 which is golden ratio. This is revealing that the FATHER are the numbers which is PI 3.14 behind the letters of the Word. The Word is simple math problems. You must convert the words in the verse into numbers using simple english gematria A=1---Z=26.
