  • Dear Friends,
The 19th BOH Cameronian Arts Award Night at PJPAC on 5 May, presented by Kakiseni, true to form as the Cammies of Malaysian Performing Arts, was a grand affair.
Themed as ‘Pentas Kehidupan, Meneroka Tanpa Batasan’, the annual Awards Night is always an anticipated event by the Malaysian theatre fraternity.
Congratulations to Low Ngai Yuen (President), Layla (Deputy) and the Kakiseni team for bringing the diverse community of Performing Arts together on a shared platform. We often marvel at the diversity of Malaysian Performing Arts communities which have sustained such a vibrant ecosystem of theatre-culture.
En Rosnan, deputy Director of JKKN was given the honour to co-present and state the message of inclusivity of the evening.
The highlight of the evening for me was meeting Caroline Russell, an old friend and my favourite Malaysian, who has steadfastly supported Kakiseni since the Kathy Rowland and Jenny Daneels days of its exciting early formative time.
It was a long night honouring several categories spanning Dance, Theatre, Music and other genres.
This video happens to cover only Dance. It was a pleasure to give the award to the astounding Switchblade Operation: The Longing, spearheaded by choreographer Loke Soh Sim of Kongsi Petak and Cake Project.
We hope Kakiseni will continue to be the catalyst of creativity in the Malaysian Performing Arts Scene.
    Sutra.
