I've been watching this man's videos since I was like 10 years old. I'm 15 now and I've watched every single video he's made all the way through and I need more OverSimplified content. And I remember jumping all over the walls when I saw a notification he posted a new video. It's been a year since he made a new video but I'm sure he's out and about somewhere cooking up some fresh content for us to binge watch in our crusty computer chairs

It remains unclear as to why no reliable news has yet to be uncovered on the channel's future uploads.
Rapid speculation on the living status of the individual has come and gone. Thanks to their discord however it is confirmed that their living status remains positive.
Last tweet was uploaded on January 11, 2023. Time elapsed since upload 1 year and 1 day. Last known big event being the Oversimplified Talent Show on their Discorn that took place on Friday December 29, 2023. Time elapsed 14 days.
No news on future videos has come from these sources. But for as long as this silence persists we shall remain here.

Even being an italian, meaning our schools focused a lot on teaching roman history, the first punic war was vastly overlooked, only pointing out how it made Rome build a big fleet to counter the carthagineans. This gave me a whole new perspective on the punic wars and I can't wait to see the second and the third punic wars videos!

Let’s just take a second to appreciate how cool the Punic Wars are.
The Punic Wars lasted from 246 BCE to 146 BCE with interwar periods. In the second punic war, the largest and most famous one, well over a million men fought and that is putting it lightly, it’s got fighting monsters, yes monsters, blood oaths and two rival families fighting for the fate of the world, it’s so fantastical that it actually happened.
would also like to take second to appreciate just how much rested on these conflicts between Rome and Carthage. They fought for control of what was to them, the whole world.
If Rome hadn’t had it’s tenacity and prowess, and had it lost The Punic Wars, our world would be so unimaginably and vastly different that we wouldn’t be able to comprehend it.
Just to scratch the surface, modern languages, the legal system, our roads, welfare system and politics just to name a few.
But our world would also be different in the way of culture and the history would be incredibly different and completely alien to us.
Just read the responses and yes this is pretty much just straight yanked from Extra History, go watch their Punic War episodes they are really good!! I can also recommend reading livy's book on the second punic war, or a podcast about it because it is an amazingly boring read

I love how the Carthaginian elite was so petty and venal that they chased off the man who could have won the war for them because he was obviously so much better at their jobs than they were. And also am kinda depressed because of how similar that is to the political class of the modern day.
They ended up repeating that same mistake with Hannibal in the second punic war aswell.
Tbf, the whole war happened due to the overreliance on mercenary that stabbed their former employer in the back, so I assume they try to cut him off before having any funny ideas.

So in modern times it's as if modern Italy lost a million men in a disaster, and they didn't even stop to reconsider what they were doing. Ancient civilizations were indeed huge risk-takers.

A harsh treaty after a long, grueling, often relatively even war leads to anger among the losing side which leads to a 2nd war where the side who lost the 1st war wins big initially but ends up losing their momentum and with it, the war as a whole? And, romans actually imposed a super-harsh peace treaty after the 2nd Punic war, after which Carthage never recovered and became an easy target for Rome in the 3rd War. This is where the term "Carthaginian peace" comes from - treaty so harsh so intented to permanently cripple the enemy. This is what ToV was supposed to be.

Watching the end of this video after having seen the videos about the second war is just peak cinema. The foreshadowing is top notch.
It was like Christmas whenever he posted a new video. Every few months, he would send us a fun way to learn about the history of china, England, France, and more. I’m starting to think that great feeling you get whenever hi posted a new video will never come again.

Ya I feel like one thing that would be hard to just learn from your enemy is how to tell a storm is coming. It's not something you can just watch them do and learn. You actually need to have an experienced sailor who knows all the tricks and Rome just didn't have that at that time!
