They look stunning these watches and have good history behind them. In my point of view, they offer more than any of rolex, omega, and any other high-end watches that simply give the only time and date. These casio gmw b5000 mrg do way more in a watch that is also solar powered giving the day, date and a calender that will give you the most accurate time. Alarms, stopwatch, and countdown timer. Everything you want in a watch in high-quality materials and a perfect finish. I get mine tomorrow

I agree! Most watch collectors end up collecting more or less the same brands, same models. However, with Casio you end up being the silent wealth in the room. MR-G specifically is a timeless piece which eventually will appreciate in value over time.
The design of the DW5000C is timeless but rendered in the current premium materials: titanium, sapphire crystal are approaching archival akin to art drawn on acid-free paper. I’m a big fan of the rubbery resin used in the GW5000, too.
you are right, the design is 40 years and hasn't changed.. literally hasn't changed, it is amazing really.

Great review. I completely agree with you. It’s a masterpiece. I have the silver one and I find myself oftentimes choosing to wear it over my Seamaster.
Thing is.. I wear these G-Shock at the moment over all mechanical watches and I think it is mostly down to the fact I don't have to set the time as they're all to the second accurate and for some reason that functional aspect makes me more and more drawn to them. But also I prefer over the Apple Watch so I am trying to understand that too. I think it is down to having to charge the Apple Watch every day makes the watch feel temporary.
You have to remember these watches were designed 40 years ago, this is a 40 year old design that is still being made.

I wish people would announce their wrist size as they put the watch on wrist. that info would be helpful to everyone looking to see if they have the wrist for it.
I do apologise.. My wrist is 7 inch about 185mm... I think.

I hope Casio will release the MRG with the GPS time sync. The multiband radio sync does not reach most countries.
I've thought the same and I am sure they will at some point.
that's why they have bluetooth;the new g shock will connect to your phone and time sync. even better

I think GPS will inevitably end up in a version of the Square but there is a lean towards bluetooth I suppose.
Fantastic detailed review, I have the silver version but find the mirror finish round the bezel was easy to scratch and now noticeable, a real annoyance for me, I wish that model also had the DLC applied to it, any idea where I can take it to be polished?
that is exactly what I thought - I was thinking is there an equivalent of DLC for plain titanium and why didn't they do that.. as I know the DLC treatment does harden the surface.. It is interesting. The Silver version is my favourite if I really had to chose.

Would actually consider this over the Omega Spacemaster at almost half the price hahah, it doesn't have to make a statement to anyone but yourself.
I do like the Omega Space.. I do find I keep going back to the G-Shocks though.
Have been looking at all the new Omega releases and I keep thinking what do I prefer and right now I think i'm in the G-Shock direction.

In your opinion what would you say is an appropriate monthly income to have in order to spend the amount of money that these watches are on sale for?

You raise a good point. These watches are expensive. I suppose you have to decide on the value of owning these watches or even just one watch and work out how much disposable income you have and how much can and do you want to spend. If a person had to save up a little for these MRG watches I would say save up and then you would know if you really wanted to buy one.
I‘m considering buying one of these and am leaning towards the titanium version without coating…
The MR-G silver (natural) titanium square is probably my favourite. Apparently the DLC coating does add a degree of increased hardness or resilience to scratches but I don't know for sure if that is correct.
Stealth wealth indeed... I have the GMW B5000 and would buy the MRG B5000 for this very reason... but which colour / both?
Both the Silver and Black are very good and you do notice the difference in the hand. But saying that, the GMW-B5000 is still very good and a fraction of the price. If you are a G-Shock fan and you have the budget legs for the MRG B5000 you won't be disappointed, they are super.

I enjoyed the reviews however i sure know one lesson I've learnt, technology moves like lightning and becomes obsolete WITHIN a small amount of time. Ten years from now who's to say that even radio controlled will be functioning ! I think that what would be more worth knowing about is whether the brain can be updated or changed for another module or how reliable it is for time keeping without radio controlled or Bluetooth

Any scratches after daily using on the black MRG ?
no scratches at all. I've definitely knocked it and I can't see any mark. Saying that most of the time I am probably very careful.

What do you think about the custom mod replica of the Porter watch, with 100% Casio authentic parts? I guess it is the same watch, without the fancy case and papers?
I have seen a few "mods" on Ebay and these are sold as assembled by hand by the seller from original Casio parts. I think they are probably good value as they are much cheaper than a new-old-stock (NOS) Porter but I would be concerned about dust entering the assembly process and waterproofing as I believe Casio do assemble and service all watches in clean rooms plus water test all watches they service etc.
Why shouldn't they be installed conscientiously and in clean surroundings? I had mine rebuilt with new parts at a watchmaker.
I have a Porter mod. I came to the G-shock party late and certainly wasn’t going to pay a premium for an original when I could have the same watch, made from Casio original parts, exactly the same as the original except for a serial number on the case back. The fella that made mine did a sterling job, with new gaskets. It’s one of my favourite watches.
Next is the MR-G, hopefully be end of year. I think I’ll go for a pre-loved one when the time is right.

is the black mrg is more scratches resistant than the other titanium dlc coating models?
This is something that I really do want to find out.. I literally might have to wear both and see for myself, I am thinking what I can do here.

Love the tfc. Just a bit too pricey for my taste.
The TFC is the OG Limited Full Metal G-Shock and its screen is the same as the 1983 original DW-5000 just amazing really. I am finding that even though Rolex and Richard Mille are big money big time watch Kings... in actual fact G-Shock might be the real King of watches.
What is the original or retail price of the tfc?
sorry to say is not a genuine TFC1, has no serial numbers on the back plate
that is actually a replacement backplate as I had it replaced by Casio. I should have asked for it back.
Please include actual descriptive video descriptions rather than simply promoting your channel. People want to know what’s in the video first and foremost.

Better off saving your money and going for the g shock tough solar band 6 resin version for £99.. You won't feel like you've been robbed.
The cheaper models are still just as cool yes.

I too don’t feel robbed buying the MR-G Silver Titanium version shown here………..we are both happy and that’s what matters 😊 Actually I feel like I have robbed Casio for offering this MR-G for sale at a very reasonable price compared to what I pay for some of my Swiss Mechanical watches

That's a year's worth of car payments at $350/month. So I keep my older car for an extra year and save the money to buy this instead. It's half about what resources a person has and half about how one prioritizes those resources.
