- Fall 2021 Wonder Challenge: How Volcanoes Form Underwater
This video was created for the Wonder Challenge for the Fall 2021 Environmental Science, Politics, and Policy course taught by Dr. Kwame Owusu-Daaku at the University of West Florida. We partnered with Elizabeth Eubanks and 6th grade students from Dixon School of Arts and Sciences. We created a video answering the question posed by the 6th graders “I wonder…how do volcanoes form underwater?”
Throughout the video, you will learn the steps a volcano takes to form while under the water. A forming volcano undergoes many struggles that it has to overcome, and the video explains the solutions it takes to finally evolve into a volcano from magma. Some important notes is that a volcano does not form overnight and takes many days to completely turn into a volcano from magma. It also begins forming in soft sediment because this is the area that is easiest for the magma to break through the surface. We hope you enjoy the video!
