New Zealand has been under a tsunami warning for like 3 days, and rightly so. One of the ports have been severely damaged with 4 boats sunk from a mix of the tsunami and the cyclone.
Where I live there was going to be a tsunami because of it but thank god it did not happen I live near the ocean so it would have came easily to me and my family
it ended like 2 days ago lol. it was an advisory for strong currents/tides, mixed with the cyclone. its interesting too, how powerful this eruption was considering the tsunami warning we had back in March (which was wayyy more serious) caused by a magnitude 8.1 in the Kermadec Islands, and the eruption tsunami waves caused more damage to marinas/boats too.
Wow really, us Cook Islands didn't get any tsunami warnings even when people found out about it within an hour and we're literally the small dot that's closer to Tonga than NZ

Actually the island is still there, just took a massive chunk from it. Google maps has updated pictures of that area, and inside edition darkened their picture, but there is a ton more island left than what inside edition is showing
I just looked at it on Google maps and I think he may have been looking at a completely different island. I typed in Tonga and the island thats shows up on Google maps is not the same island that exploded. The island that exploded was about 4 1/2 km wide and over 3/4 of it is now gone.

I got a tsunami warning. helicopters were all over the place telling people to get out of the water and off the beach to high ground. I live a mile from the beach, and its all flat land from my house to it. luckily the tsunami was avoided, we just got 7 foot waves.
