Okay So basically Ally’s father seemed pretty knowledgeable in computer programming, able to make Ele.OS for her. Ele.OS is possibly the outcome of the Project Eleanor file we see in this video. Eventually, as hinted in Reboot Me, he passed away. Ally grew up with a passion for photography as seen in the newer version of the Reboot Me music video, and carelessly pirated software in the process it seems. This is what led to the computer, and eventually Ele, getting the virus Viri, who altered itself to look like Ele and fool Reece the trashcan.exe program into giving it the files Ally’s father wanted discarded of. From the looks of the Reboot Me video, Ally had downloaded an antivirus software AFTER Ele was already corrupted. This could mean that she was too late, unfortunately. I really hope Jakeneutron proves that last sentence wrong-

I dunno though because if the dad really did create the operating system how would she get such software to pirate. Unless her dad had created it based on linux there's no way to get that kind of software more so get a virus created for it. Unless she used an application like wine to open windows applications but even so the ransomware wouldn't be able to touch the operating system as first it wouldn't run and that the ransomware is running in a virtual disk. Anyways even if it was able to run on linux it wouldn't be able to effect it as linux in general like debian,arch and fedora because one of the main pros about linux is security. Even if the ransomware was able to run it wouldn't be able to encrypt the files as linux's file system is different to windows. Windows has a kind of thing where you can click the hard drive and access all the files. For linux you'd need to enter your password to access files like the root folder or the boot folder. Sorry if you don't understand this.

The singularity, or the technological singularity is actually a term for the point in history when a software's AI becomes so advanced... It can improve itself, infinitely, faster than any human could. Eventually, it would become so intelligent and efficient it could surpass all of humanity. An intelligence explosion, one that humans might not be able to keep up with and use. What if Ele.OS or VIRI could be able to do this, or at least originally designed to?...

is it too late for theory time? Cause it's theory time. In short, the girl's dad work lead to developing Viri, the ransomware, which he felt guilty for and he left. Or at least something along those lines, and I'm gonna explain what I'm thinking. So clearly the computer was the father's old one, which is why the girl got it for free, and in the trashcan there's stuff like "Project Eleanor" and "Ai_Engine". The father must've been a programmer for a company, or maybe just himself, these were all projects he was testing on his own computer. Ele is a program like Cortana on Windows, and Reece (trashcan.exe) is one of those file cleanup programs, but one that also helps with the recycle bin. One of the files in the recycle bin is "DO_NOT_RELEASE" which is preeetty strange for a guy who just makes helpful programs, so it would seem that "Dangers of Singularity" file came to be true. I'm assuming that the file contains something relevant to Viri. Since, Viri looks an awful lot like Ele, who has already shown to be having a mind of her own and being way more advanced than tech we have now, that Viri is a sort of "Ele ver. 1". Viri became so intelligent that she could easily find weaknesses and ways to get into files, which is pretty good as a ransomware, not so much a desktop helper. But, this theory has some holes, like how Viri doesn't seem to know this is her creator's computer (Unless she's somehow been wiped of her memory?) and how did Viri become public, as she came in through sketchy downloads. But hey, its just some ideas of mine. Some other details of note is that the father most likely left sometime between 1997 and 2000, judging by the pictures in Reboot Me (birthday pic, then the pic of a photo of her and him). Assumedly all of his files were put in trash by him before he left, or by the girl, as Reece says how they've been there for years and Ele hasn't had him trash them yet (probably because she assumes the girl will return and want them there, since she hadn't deleted them). Reece also starts to say how its getting "cr-" before being cut off by Viri, was he saying cracked? Maybe crowded, since two of the error messages in Reboot me said "storage full" (third one said "Ele.Os crashed, -> accept your fate", spooky). oh, this got long. Theory time over.
I believe that Eleanor is the girl that appears in the video, the father made Ele.or to be a program that helps the growth of his daughter and when the years have passed and the girl left the house for university on father they would no longer use that computer so he put a pirate program to kill the computer and the program, said and done Viri finished the program and the computer
.....this makes me appreciate the fact that i got rid of a bunch of viruses i accidentally inflicted on this old computer before the poor thing ended up like....this o_o i wanna protect whatever lil singing program lives in any computer i use now ;3;

Man. This story is so sad, but great. I love the little OS. I think it would be awesome to see an updated Ele.OS fight back after the user came back with her laptop to regain the data from this VIRI. Either way. I love the songs and the story with it.
The reason ele.os hasn’t been booted is because the user CANT boot it, because viri is a ransomware and you have to pay a certain amount of money to gain access again

I get it now. There was secret files inside the computer or corrupted files and pirated code. So, Viri (the Virus) senses them inside the computer and is now slowly taking over. While Ele.Os has to stop her from doing so. I believe that's what I'm getting at. Just a theory.

The singularity is the point at which an AI is able to rapidly improve upon itself autonomously. That's why VIRI's so excited. Ele isn't just unique, she's a prototype Artificial SuperIntelligence. A REAL AI. This virus just gained awareness.

im super late but i am l i v i n g for the lore ohymygods what i found interesting is the wording of the trash.exe/reece "ur *finally* letting me trash this stuff" or smth along those lines note the finally + all the talk abt it being a long time n stuff around the end of reboot me the computer appears to crash (?) bc of the system memory being full maybe it relates to that? also from what i could make of the drawings behind the lyrics: it appears to b viri possibly while she goes thru her plans n/or the aftermath of the virus/viri herself? idk there r also snippets of the other programs + reece the one that stood out to me is that reece finds viri/ele (?) susp afterwards a few drawings of what looks like the other programs getting corrupted (as seen in reboot me after virulent appears)

So, I'm going to guess that this is how it happened... Ally's Father made Ele.Os as an AI on the computer for his daughter. Over time, Ally downloaded more and more cracked software, including one called VIRULENT. This is where Viri comes in. Viri starts to corrupt and encrypt all the files due to her being a Ransomware, specifically. Viri, then, comes to discover the AI files in the trash can since they were never deleted and gains self-awareness. This is just I've been able to think about from this.

Man. This story is so sad, but great. I love the little OS. I think it would be awesome to see an updated Ele.OS fight back after the user came back with her laptop to regain the data from this VIRI. Either way. I love the songs and the story with it.
The reason ele.os hasn’t been booted is because the user CANT boot it, because viri is a ransomware and you have to pay a certain amount of money to gain access again

In the song, she is a ransomware, a type of malware that came from cryptovirology that threatens to publish the victim's data or perpetually block access to it unless a ransom is paid. Like real life ransom.

So is Viri a ransomware..that would make sense considering that type of software an lock a computer till the ‘ransom’ is paid or the virus is taken off the computer. So..that would explain why ele’s owner abandoned the computer

I get it now. There was secret files inside the computer or corrupted files and pirated code. So, Viri (the Virus) senses them inside the computer and is now slowly taking over. While Ele.Os has to stop her from doing so. I believe that's what I'm getting at. Just a theory.

The singularity is the point at which an AI is able to rapidly improve upon itself autonomously. That's why VIRI's so excited. Ele isn't just unique, she's a prototype Artificial SuperIntelligence. A REAL AI. This virus just gained awareness.

also from what i could make of the drawings behind the lyrics:
it appears to b viri possibly while she goes thru her plans n/or the aftermath of the virus/viri herself? idk

the one that stood out to me is that reece finds viri/ele (?) susp

So, I'm going to guess that this is how it happened...
Ally's Father made Ele.Os as an AI on the computer for his daughter.
Over time, Ally downloaded more and more cracked software, including one called VIRULENT.
This is where Viri comes in.
Viri starts to corrupt and encrypt all the files due to her being a Ransomware, specifically.
Viri, then, comes to discover the AI files in the trash can since they were never deleted and gains self-awareness.
This is just I've been able to think about from this.
