Fell in love in Germany while on the Autobahn looking into my rearview mirror and seeing a prototype with wires attached all over the car. Car was a flat black. I will never forget that moment!! Years later, my 986 is with me. Love the car!!
I came to the game late and bought my 986 when I was 60. I’m 63 now and am still loving it. I can really now understand why people love this car so much.
62,retired, 2 years of 2006 boxster S, and no REGRETS, and driving in Hawaii, top down, sunsets, rainbows, moon ,and stars! Loving life! ALOHA!
I need that front Bumper...
2003 986 2.7 manual 65k brilliant car always makes me smile well done Porsche
The concept was sooooo much better looking then the production car!! The concept is much more like the 550 spyder
agreed should have built that for production
Love my 2004 986.
Why in the world does the 25th anniversary edition Boxster not have the central exhaust?
Because it's base on the GTS 4.0 with have the rear diffuser in between the two exhaust pipe. In order to have the center exhaust they would have to change the hole exhaust and rear bumper (to somehow maintain the downforce produce by the diffuser) just for the 1250 units of the 25 anniversary, with isn't a smart decision in terms of cost for the company.
I undestand your point and also wish that it had a center exhaust but I also highly doubt that they would do it just for this model
I remember when the concept car was released and a mate had a full colour brochure at work. It then came out in car magazines and it was one of the most amazing designs i've ever seen. To this day the concept is stunning, one of the true classic designs. I would love to take an early 986 and convert it to look like the concept. I don't know if that would even be possible, but an interesting project nonetheless.
Everyone is saying that the 986 Boxster made the 996 Ugly but based on the concept Boxster and how they had to change everything to parts share with the 911, I'd say the 996 is the one that made the Boxster uglier. I still think the 986 is a beautifully balanced sports car.
My 2.5 26 years still running strong 💪

From what I see the Boxster never outsold the 911, so they are more rare. The argument they will always be cheap is proven wrong when you look at prices of most 911 models.
Concept car so much better in size and details and overall design than the production car which does not appeal too me and should not have been altered in size to production. pity
