Joe2Recon If I were to make another one I would use thicker pivot pins. I find that with prolonged use the 6mm pins take on a slight bow, which makes them difficult to remove. Not a big deal but it does mean that you need some spare pins when reassembling it.
Great job! I wish I had a workshop like that. I don't own a welder, or a set of torches, so I've been pondering on how to build mine, with basically a drill, and a grinder. I already bought the plates, with the paddles on them. The appropriate pipe size should be easy enough to find. But, how to secure them? I also have to build a base stand. Any thoughts?
Hard to advise without seeing the plates you have. I think I would use angle iron for the upright, say 50 x 50 x 3mm and set it up so that the apex of the angle faces the firer so that bullets are deflected to the sides. Rather than use pipes to make pivots for the paddles you could make U- brackets from two L-shaped pieces of angle iron drilled with holes to take the tabs and bolted to the main riser. Not sure which country you are in but many stores like Aldi and Lidl here in the UK sell cheap invertor stick welders. Stick welders don't need a gas cylinder so are cheap to set up. It's not an easy skill to acquire but for this purpose your welds would not need to be elegant.
Andrew O'Neil It's still working well. Once we set the angle right it will deal with .44,.45 and .357 rounds without further adjustment. We use it for cowboy action shooting so if some gamer turns up with 38Special mouse fart loads we have to set it almost vertical
Nice bit of Yankee engineering (for a Brit). Looks like it should do the trick. But what the hell do you do with it besides hit it with a hammer? Didn't think your government trusted you people with firearms over there across the pond?
Ahhh....so you shoot the "Dueling Tree" with a "Dueling Pistol" Anyway - job well done. You should post another video when you get a chance of the thing under fire.
Unique build. I really like how you made the adjustable base. Very nice👍🙂🇺🇸
You did it perfectly really you are a good professional person.
I really like the adjustable base mount on it.
Absolutely excellent video and excellent craftsmanship! Thanks so much for taking the time to make the video.
Very well thought out and executed.
Very well done!! what I was looking for as well you made it secure to disassembly so it wouldn't be damaged & stolen
Well done Mike!

Very nice design
Hi Mike, how did the adjustment screw work out for you...like the tilting Base

That's a common misconception. We use it with lever action rifles, percussion pistols and certain types of centre fire pistols.

Anyway - job well done. You should post another video when you get a chance of the thing under fire.
you wasted all your time drilling holes? definitely just over engineered this whole thing
