    A very useful review of this Godox unit, especially as I've just bought one (in preference to the smaller 350 unit, which I may yet add to my kit). I'm particularly interested to hear of it's 'cross-platform' off camera flash compatibility as use Nikon gear with my Lumix kit.

    Please could you tell me where I can obtain the battery pack by Shoot that you used in your presentation please ?

    Good review of this unit and of the other Godox gear. I have found that I can set the flash zoom setting manually when used off camera or with the head set at an angle. I like this functionality as it lets me shape the light beam to some degree for each flash that I'm using. Good job.

    I'm at the very start of using flash for my photography and I've been so confused, so this video really helps me A LOT! Will probably watch it several times, as I am buying this flash for my Olympus OM-D 5 II. I'll be using it together with the Gary Fong light sphere and hoping to get good results. Thanks again so much, I've just subscribed to your channel :)

    I had bought this flash for my FZ330, but I found it to be too 'top-heavy' and large in comparison. So I returned it and opted for a smaller and lighter Godox TT350o. It suits my casual-shooting style and doesn't look incongruous on my camera.

    I was a bit skeptical about putting WD-40 on my new flash, but I did it anyway (since the flash head was so stiff it was almost useless), but I am glad to report that the WD-40 has worked quite well. Just be careful not to put too much in there, and clean up afterwards!

    Great Video, just the one I was looking for . Just one question remains un-answered . I have an Oly kit but a bigger Nikon kit with 2 SB600. Just got the TT350-O for the Oly, now if I get the TT685N will the TT350-O ( as master on the Oly hotshoe )trigger 2 slave TT685N. If yes then the SB600s will be on sale to be replaced by the TT685N. Do you think that will be a right choice ? + will order the X1-T-N for Nikon

    VERY helpful video - THANKS! Two questions though...
    Will the Godox PB960 external battery pack work on this (It is Godox brand as well, but Godox will not answer my inquiry, nor do they seem to specify a PB960 for OMD cameras; I have the M5II and M10II), and are you saying - do I hear correctly - a Canon battery pack cable is what I need? Not many (none that I can find) sources on the web discuss these things.
    Oh, and yes, I do understand not to go round doing a zillion bursts with this flash - I have the TT685-O and X1 trigger and love them and would never dream of overheating them but would love the flash power to last a bit longer/a full day. Thanks again, Sir.

    Hi Graham - I can`t seem to find the answer regarding cross compatibility between a TT350o and a TT685N. Having recently converted to 4/3 with the G9 from Nikon I am wondering whether I can use my TT685N as an off camera slave to an on camera TT350o.
    Great instructional video as usual.

    Hi Graham, thanks for the great video review. I wish I had seen your video before I purchased my unit. I just received mine, and noticed that the AF assist beam is not working on my Olympus E3 nor on any of my micro4/3 cameras. Other than the expensive Olympus FL-900R, is there any micro4/3 speedlight that comes with AF assist?

    • @GrahamHoughton12

      The focus assist light seems to be mostly overlooked in the M4/3 flash units. I don't have one in my flash collection that is enabled.

    Hi Graham, I’ve been following your tutorials since I bought the Lumix fz300 last year and found it very helpful. However Panasonic disabled the burst mode when flash is used, even external ones. I love taking high speed splash pictures and it would be very inconvenient without this functionality. Do you have any idea how I’ll be able to use external flash in burst mode?

    THANKS for your videos - always informative! I love my TT685 and 600 - and of course the Godox triggers - BUT would love to add my older (but good) off-brand speedlights in slave mode when not in direct line of sight. Alas, Olympus is the ONLY Godox trigger with no paired receiver offered (X1R-N, -C, and -S but no X1R-O)! So...my older speedlights are useless until a 2.4 receiver compatible with X1T-O is found. No TTL needed for the old flashes, but no compatible wireless receiver seems to be offered by anyone. Do you know of a wireless receiver that "sees the signal" from the X1T-O?

      @@GrahamHoughton12 Three items, actually -- two Neewer (dare I say) TT560 speedlights and/or one Neewer Vision 4 strobe. In spite of brand name, these have served me wonderfully. With one or more of those I want to continue using my Godox flashes (TT685 and TT600 -- both are nothing short of wonderful). I can say the Neeweer speedlights seemingly work on anything, even my wife's Nikon D750. Graham, one person on a forum suggested I use ANY of the Godox X1R receivers -- does this make sense to you? IF that sounds right, I'll just get the X1R-N ...or -S ....or C since they see any(?) X1T. Thanks again!

    Hi Graham, thanks for the review. I’m just getting into flash photography and bought a Nissin i40 and plan to use it mainly as single flash on events. Have you checked the guide number on that as well and if yes how does it compare to to the goddox 350 or 685? The goddox seems to have advantages when using multiple units.
    Regards Mathias

    • @GrahamHoughton12
      @GrahamHoughton12  6 лет назад

      Hello Mathias. No I didn't establish the Nissin i40 guide number but I know it is quite a powerful flash for its size. The beauty of the i40 is the multi modes that it supports from wireless TTL to Auto mode and Manual flash power.

      Graham thanks for your quick reply. I used the i40 on the weekend for the first time and was quite happy so far. For using the wireless ttl I have to add an on camera flash (I’m using Lumix GX8). Do you still recommend the Olympus FL-LM3 as cheapest and easiest way to go for that? It’s around 50 Euro here.

    When the flashgun is mounted on a Panasonic camera's hotshoe and just used as on-camera flash, what mode is the camera set to? I can only get my 685 to fire when the camera is set to C1/C2/C3, there is no synch with any other mode although there is connectivity as the aperture displayed on the gun's display changes when you change it on the camera.

      I would assume that you will want to use TTL on and off camera. You have the choice of optical or RF control. The most convenient way is to use RF and something like the Godox X1-O transmitter and the TT685-O flash unit. Other systems would need you to buy two flash units, one as master the other as slave.

      No you can use the master mode of the tt350o on camera and then that would transmit to the 685 set in slave mode on the same group. I'm not 100% sure on whether you can have different lighting ratio or whether each fires at the same power. Something I would need to experiment with

  • @osirismarbles5177
    @osirismarbles5177 6 лет назад

    I highly disagree with the usefulness of the TT350 as a flash. I find it severely underpowered with long recycle times and short battery life. As a trigger, I find it performs wonderfully. I know this review is for the TT685, but I'm curious about your thoughts on the shot to shot performance of the TT350

      Considering the market for this unit is a small, on camera, fill flash to replace the pop up flash (that might not even be provided on some csc's/compacts) i think it achieves that function fairly well. Sure it's only a 2 battery unit so isn't designed to be a powerful workhorse like the bigger tt685. As a fill flash and RF master commander I think for the price it is a superb piece of gear.

    • @rock3times
      @rock3times 6 лет назад

      You keep mention CSC. I am not familiar with that acronym here in the USA. What is that ?

    • @osirismarbles5177
      @osirismarbles5177 6 лет назад

      Ok. I guess it's a matter of opinion then. Since marketed as a flash, I expected it to be more useable. I also own the Metz m400. Obviously, it carries double the battery capacity so power should go without saying. I feel the Metz or Nissin i40 are the best compact flashes (though expensive) on the market for smaller bodies. The TT350 starts missing a lot of frames in an event. The m400 keeps going. That said, I picked up the TT350 (flashpoint version) for under $60 US when Adorama had a sale. At that price, it's an extremely useful trigger with some flash availability in a pinch.

    • @GrahamHoughton12
      @GrahamHoughton12  6 лет назад

      Yes the lack of an audible flash recharged is quite a serious omission on these units imo

    • @GrahamHoughton12

      To be honest I use it with an external power pack for faster recycle times. On using Eneloop inside the flash after 20 or so flashes the recycle time gets too long for event photography

  • @alexwade9921
    @alexwade9921 6 лет назад

    I bought three of these for wedding work. They all have an infuriating problem both with my Panasonic and Olympus bodies. When used on camera and direct the auto zoom does not correlate properly to the focal length set on the lens. If I zoom my lens out to 12mm these flashes go to 14mm. If I zoom to 14mm they go to 17mm. If I zoom to 17mm they go to 25mm. If I zoom to 25mm they go to 35 and so on. If I use the flash like this then I get dark edges around my frame like a vignette. Infuriating! I hoped that a firmware update might fix this. There has been one so far, but it doesn't. I've conversed with others on forums. Apparently the V860 lithium ion powered model has the same fault. Unfortunately, Godox customer service is non existent so absolutely no joy contacting them! Beware if you are buying for on camera use!

    I'm so impatiently waiting for your INTELLIGENT review on the new: Panasonic Lumix DC-zs200/TZ200

    Have a great day!!

    • @GrahamHoughton12
      @GrahamHoughton12  6 лет назад

      I'm left wondering about this upgrade to the TZ100. It has a slower lens at the expense of the longer zoom F3.3 against f2.8 at the wide end and f6.4 against f5.9 at the long end. If the lens is sharper than the TZ100 then this might make it appealing. The only concern is dustproofing has never been a priority for Panasonic on their travel zooms. I have two now which are almost useless in bright light. If it wasn't for the lack of 4K in other cameras then I certainly would not even begin to look at this one £700 is a lot of money to risk on another potential dust sucker.
