Woodturning - Segmented Platter

- This platter was meant to have a finished outline of an 8 petal flower. This didn’t really happen. I thought that the lighter wood was all the same, Vitex, but there must be a significant variation between different pieces.
I started planning this piece 3 months ago doodling while watching many other RUclips woodturners. Thanks to you all for the inspiration

Anglo-Saxon shield design..Nice.
Thanks Stephen for the positive feedback. I wonder if I could make a shield design life size. Something to ponder. Thanks again
Brett
Looks great. I love the pattern.
Rigid makes a foldable out table, that is what I use.
You may also want to go to the bandsaw and make some better push sticks.
Thanks Len for the feedback. Will check out the tables as I need to conserve space a fold out was the idea.
Question for you to help me please is what does a better push stick look like? I like my fingers so would greatly appreciate a tip in this detail
Thanks again for the great feedback
Cheers Brett
Keep it up mate another beautiful piece of art😊
Thanks Ian. I am very pleased with the result.
I was sat wathing and though, 'he needs an outfeed table' and the words popped up on screen! Great minds :-)
😀 that is funny Peter. Now I just need to make it. Thanks for watching and sharing. Brett
😀👍👍👍
😀😀😎👍 thanks for the encouragement
May not be a flower, but I love the design. Great job.
Thanks John. I appreciate it. I also like the finished product even though it wasn’t what was in my minds eye 😎
Hi Brett
I recon you must be a master of maths to work out all the measurements and angle cuts, and possible ate dinner to late one night and came up with this design while experiencing reflux during the night!
Seriously,Well done as usual a real masterpiece, love the contrast in the wood colours,a question do you have shares in Sellys glue factory?
Great job Brett thanks for sharing your talents with us .
Regards from the blob of mud they call the coromandel, will we ever see the sun again!
Ok let’s clear up the glue first. No I don’t have shares :-) mores the pity.
My initial idea was to do this in plywood and if I recall the dinner was pizza.
It was a heap of fun
I feel your pain about living in a damp environment. All this rain means the garden is neglected and I can get out to the workshop which is a very silver lining
Keep warm Mal. Brett
That turned out nicely! Which woods did you use? Thanks for sharing your skills with us.
Thank you Linda for that complement.
The wood I used was off cuts from decking projects, namely Vitex and Kwila.
Vitex is native to the Solomon Islands and Kwila is from Malaysia and Indonesia
I am pleased you enjoyed the videos
Cheers
Brett
Kind of reminds me of King Arthur and the knights of the round table. The triangles on the edges are Arthur and his knights and the sun, or their goals in the center.
Wow Jack that’s an amazing insight that I didn’t see. Thanks for sharing.
Trust you’ll have a great weekend
Brett
That came out nece
Thanks Tim. I agree that it did. Different to what I had in my minds eye but still very cool.
Thanks heaps for the encouragement
Brett
Definitely an outfeed table
No argument from me. Also need a cross cut sled 😀
Thank Denise
