I just realized how crazy over powered that is. So many times you need to fine tune light and spend 10 years position it so its pixel perfect .... or you need to render out extra layer and do it in post. Now its so easy. Cant believe we had to live without it for now lol

i wonder if later weights for linked lights will be available. So it's not only binary, but rahter a gradient for power of light source for a different objects. Might be useful.

I am using 3.6 LTS. Can't wait for Blender 4.6 LTS. It'll be awesome. By then they'll have all their features in it and polished and optimized for various GPUS. I wonder how Blender would do / work if it was optimized for Apple Vision. That would be cool if you could see your models in real 3D while you work on them.

    • @user-wo4bf8ij9z

you can already do that with vr headsets. i use the oculus quest 2 with two vr apps called virtual desktop and ovr toolkit (found on steam) to 3d model in blender in vr. you can see your 3d models right in front of you and see the changes happen in real time, it’s pretty sicc.

@@stevenpike7857 both, you have a virtual 2d screen floating in front of you within the the virtual blender scene, and while editing on the floating 2d scene, you can see your 3d mesh change and move all around you in 3d with 6dof in real time. you can physically lean into your objects and look all around you as if you’re really there. it’s pretty wild and mind boggling and sooo much fun and immersive!! there are plenty of videos on it here on youtube

Hello, thanks for your cool informatives video!. I have this question : for compositing purpose, without to have to render many times the same project with different settings, I would like to specificly LINK Witch objects CAST SHADOWS on other object. I tried the various options of LINK light, light groups, and shadow linking. and unfortunately exactly like in your demo exemple, turuning off the shadow linking with the suzane object ok > IT DOESN"T cast shadow on the sphere. >>> BUT ( and this is my specific problem ;)) for compositing purpose ) >> I would LIKE TO EXCLUDE THE SUZANNE FROM THE GROUND IT CREATE ON THE GROUND. and keep IT ONLY on the SPHERE> to tell you the full story of the " WHY " >> it's for a live footage shot test, where I have almost the same layout that you have, except in my case the SUZANE is an object shot for real, and the SPHERE is my CG CHARACTER addition. > so I dont need the extra cast shadow from the MATCHING OBJECT CG tracked into the scene on the ground, it's in the plate ;)) >> But I do need it on the CG extra object, the sphere in your example. ... sorry for the long explanation ;)) so for now my solution sucks big time, i need to re-render just for that specific shadow on the cg addition , and not the ground. . VOILA :)) again sorry for too much text ;)))
