- Dramatic imagery continues to pour in from western North Carolina, a region crippled by historic flooding. Residents are left to deal with life-threatening conditions from the impacts of Helene. There have been dozens of deaths related to Helene in North Carolina.
In a heartbreaking update on Sunday afternoon, Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller said there were 30 confirmed deaths throughout the county at this point.
Leaders said they're emphasizing restoring power first to public health and public safety facilities. There are roughly 15,000 technicians and support personnel from 19 states and Canada in the Carolinas working to restore power.
On Sunday, hundreds of thousands of people are still without power and cell service. Residents are unable to contact loved ones or call for help, state leaders said Sunday. Parts of western North Carolina are underwater, leaving roads impassable and residents trapped in the mountains.

This will have a huge national economic impact as I-40 is a MAJOR east-west route for trucks.
I'm praying for these families They've worked hard all their lives just to watch the flood wash away everything they have. Don't count on insurance companies to pay anything, they're all thieves.
Then you should pray the insurance companies will pay, problem solved.
@@snoopcow many do not have flood insurance.
Looting??? Nope, surviving the elements... 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I concur
I concerned about people that live North of Marion NC. Green Mountain area and Baskerville.
To the cookie lady, yes God was not only there, but through you he still is.
Alot of these areas arent gonna recover sadly.
Thanks for WRALs coverage of Hurricane Helene and recovery efforts

THE TEARS OF LIFE & MORE -2024??
Helene hit like an atom bomb
Consuming the helpless in its path.
The waters of the deep surged forth
Flooding everything with their wrath.
The storms of life come to everyone
There are none who are immune.
Some approach in our later years
While others come too soon.
Conviction is our emotional union
As we weather the storms of Earth.
Thank God for His amazing grace
Which helps us reveal our worth.
Tears are a love-mates humble gift
When it's time to say goodbye
Though the eyes are wet and swollen
With time and patience they dry.

Where does all that water drain to, how long for it to recede?
Trump is getting rid of the National Weather Service, The National Hurricane Center, NOAA and the Department of Education. Can't wait to live the movie Idoiocracy.
Not to mention South Georgia is totally wiped out like a war zone. Very little electricity and they don't expect it for weeks. This is huge this is hundreds of billions of dollars
This is why I don't talk about homeless people, you never know what can happen in an instance.
Yeah. Everybodys feeling what I've been feeling for 15 years
if the longshoremen strike tuesday this town may never recover
SO HOW did they cope with the flooding they say occurred 100 years ago ? The Civil War? 1865 must have been terrible ?
Far fewer people, none worried about power and cell service. No dams, either. I bet it was horrible then, too. 😢
Don't forget McDowell, it's nuts here too!
Yikes!
That is catastrophic and a massive area.
Just what climate change scientists have been saying would happen.......
Don't know if I can get any help from you. I live in Michigan and my friend's son and his family live in Asheville. His name is Matt Crocker and is a massage therapist at a resort there. He's lived there at least 15 years. His mother is desperately trying to find out if they are safe.
This woman and everyone else knew that a hurricane was coming. She should have already had all of her food before the storm hit. If I were her, I would have have left!
Why don't they get supplies from the store, it's not looting, it's not waiting around for help to bring food and water.
Some of these areas will be years till restored. With so many roads and bridges basically deleted recovery will be slow especially at first.
Many places in Midwestern states still need rebuilt and infrastructure also. Hope future is well planned and better functional systems.
There are two more Potential Hurricanes headed that way and they are talking about recovery : (
So why did people not prepare and stock up with food and water?
Because nobody ever thought about the rain
@@abelflores1593 hello? It's a hurricane!!

Praying for you all...🙏 ' stay strong people.
This is nuts for real. And the fact theres 2 other storms prijected for next week let alone normal west to east storms. This storm was truly impressive
All foretold by Jesus in Matthew 24 & II Peter 3. There will be an increase in natural disasters "such as was never seen before".

Where is the National Guard? Fema?
Biden has alreadiy declared areas to be Federal Disaster areas. But the state governors are the ones who activate the state's National Guard... Did people take the disaster prep classes offered by the Red Cross this summer??
The carolinas dont exist anymore. All people care about are big-name states like Texas and California and New Jersey.
What? President Biden just okay like billions and billions of dollars of aid to Western North Carolina and a billion dollars to florida. I'm not sure what you're talking about.
All explained at around the 9:00 mark.

the New York post says 1000 unaccounted for, which is it
According to the Buncombe County Zoom call at 1600 today there are approximately 600 people unaccounted for in the county, and 30 confirmed dead. This from the Sheriff of Buncombe County. Buncombe County encompasses Asheville, Weaverville, Black Mountain, Swannanoa etc.
Most evacuated more than likely, will take time to account for everyone.
Some are isolated in remote parts of the mountains. Probably OK, but can't get out or communicate.
Water supplies?? And food ??
why were they not prepared?
@@wqv5423ln they didn't think Helene was going to touch them that far inland. They were wrong. And the Gulf is churning up 3 more storms as we speak.
