Tried this after demoing the EV 30M. After all the menus, adjustments, noises, the Bose was a breath of fresh air! Voiced perfectly for my ears out of the box, no menus, muss, and fuss. So easy. I felt the same way about my old L1 Compact, voiced so well. Bose Pro 8, or 16 for me. Great demo by a talented guy.
New subscriber after listening this demo, I have the Bose L1 pro 8 and its great , but I have to say with your playing, you'd make listening too two soup cans tied together with string sound awesound, great job with your guitar playing, I'v been playing over 50+ yrs. and I'm jealous man.
Awesome demo , just got one, can't wait to put it to work, I'm gonna use it for my " jam night/open Mike" night as the pa and the monitor, watching your video makes me feel as it will be the tool for the job, thanks for taking the time ✌️🤘😎
As a singer-songwriter, I can't tell you how much I appreciate a guitar channel covering a PA system in addition to the latest $300 transparent overdrive. As a brown man, I can't tell you how much I appreciate seeing that channel run by a fellow brown man, especially one who plays guitar so fucking well. Rock on JLJ. 🤘🏾❤️
I just started playing acoustic and electric rhythm guitar for a country band and was looking for an FRFR that would work on both types of guitars. I tried a few and the Bose is by far the most natural sounding of all of them. I almost forget I'm playing through a modeling pedal. I am still sending a balanced out to front of house. I am using the Bose as my personal monitor.
Great Video Review Jay. Love your playing and the Martin 000-18 sounds great. I also use an Anthem in my Martin DC-18 Cutaway. Did you use any ToneMatch setting on your acoustic? If not, try the Baggs Tonematch setting iMixblend setting. Oit is magical with the Anthem Pickup in a Martin.
Cool video! You think the L1 Pro8 is strong enough to use as THE P.A. in a small band? (Electronic drums, bass, keys, guitar) Be interested to hear your opinion on this. Again, nicely done.
For a low volume gig, it will definitely hold up. However, I might go for the bigger model if you want to get some extra beefy lows from the bass and drum kick at higher volumes.
Great sounds and tunes! At the moment I use my Helix with a Matrix GT800FX into my Marshall 1960 Cab and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm thinking about getting some FRFR speakers in the future, but haven't tried any yet.
Thanks man. This was a very good demo. Well-thought out. Makes me subscribe and get the bell. I just bought a Bose S1 Pro a couple of weeks ago for my solo instrumental guitar ambient thing. Buying a second S1 tomorrow so I can do the Bluetooth stereo thing. But, I know I will now add the L1 Pro8 for bigger corporate gigs. It should be enough - even with 300 people - because I am always just ambient background music. You know how to make a great and helpful demo man. Keep it up. Life is short. We all gotta keep chasing after that Holy Grail on the journey. Cheers. :)
If I use it with its build in mixer, How would you rate its reverb option for vocal? Is it Good enough or you suggest using the external mixer for better reverb options?
Great demo man! You help me to decide right thanks !! 🙏 definitely I’m going to get this one,I’m not a pro playing guitar like you I like more singing , any suggestions for a good microphone for this L1Pro8? If I’m gonna get a great sound system I need a good microphone ,well not a pricey… 😅 a decent price 🎤
Thanks, exactly the demo I'm looking for. My intended use would: Guitar - Pedal Board w/Strymon Iridium + SM57 + Bluetooth or Aux backing tracks Unless I'm mistaken, this rig would fully handle that at for small gigs.
My duo plays reggae via backing tracks and mainly in small pubs and clubs. I need to downsize from my rcf evox 8. Would you say the Bose L1 pro8 would be good enough?
Fantastic guitar skills friend.... question...... can you plug your guitar into the 3rd channel (the one without tone match).......in other words, can I plug in two vocals and a guitar without using an external mixer?
@@JayLeonardJ Wow.....Thanks for getting back to me so quickly..... one more quick question.... does that 3rd channel have access to the reverb on the unit?
From what I remember hearing in the room, is that the more traditional speaker has a more mid focused/penetrating sound and the Bose seemed a little more wide with deeper lows and higher highs. Really interesting hearing the big difference between the two sources.
Big speakers have a more directional tone that fill the room in a very different way. The small speakers are part of the reason why I can get really close to this thing without my ears hearing... All goes down to how the tech is applied :)
I think it will be awesome with a duo for coffee shop, house party, or laid back performances. Probably go up the size if you are doing a more midsize venue or accompanying with a mic'd drum set.
@@JayLeonardJ thank you so much for the demonstration. Question: I just purchased the L1 PRO8 and want to set it up for my daughter and I to sing to backing tracks from a tablet. The sound is not fully clear and I believe it’s a minor adjustment I need to make but not sure what that is. In layman’s terms, do I need to attach something else or can I just use this system alone?
L1 delivers no mids ..... only basses and highs - The 15" Fullrange sound much better for me but such a fullrange in my back makes trouble with feedback because of the mids.
Definitely tried to do the best I could with that very dark studio room: you probably can't tell but I actually have and extra light source pointed right at it to try to get a little more illumination out of the PA. That is why I added a bunch of extra B-Roll shots to have to see the details a little better. The unit is definitely meant to blend in with the background and the tone of black is definitely not very reflective. I think I did a little better with the lighting in my other L1 vid, but practice makes perfect :)
Been using product live for 2 months. We also use an older model. New product made very poorly. Plastic. You can't read controls AT ALL when performing outside. Pairing app is difficult. Bose says app software needs an update. Update won't work with Safari on my Apple computer - if you can believe that. Total nightmare product. Sitcome worthy. I worry that Bose is in a nose dive. Sad because I have used many past Bose products. Shame on Bose and Guitar Center. They both have thrown the little guy under the bus. Knowingly selling a product that does not work - ie software glitch.
Hello Jay, nice playing, and nice Review. Please I want to know if 2 of these sets would work with outside mixer for a little band?, The band would use a guitar amp for a rythm guitar, a lead guitar thru a guitar effects footswitch, an amp for a bass guitar, and conected directly to the mixer, a synth, and 2 mics for voices and the after mentioned lead electric guitar. Thanks in Advance!

I came to listen about the Pro8, and stayed to hear Jay. A one man band!

Another great demo Jay. I’m not sure if I would’ve known how to tackle this one. There are so many variables. Great job brother.
Thanks: it was an epic undergoing but a really fun one to make!
Used with my Pioneer DDJ1000. My Pro 8 Sounded better then the house setup and bumped all night!
How do you connect the stereo cables? Do you use a splitter or connect to the two channels?

You're an excellent guitarist! Bose Pro8 almost as good as that 15" Monster!

Nice, the Bose felt fuller in the low end than the 15. I have the previous version of this and it was good. These looks like a great upgrade.
Awesome video and awesome playing Jay, new subscriber.
Awesome, thank you!
You have earned a new subscriber Jay! Well done my friend! I got to get this Bose L1 8 Pro from Sweetwater. Rock On!
Should had waited for Bose L1 Pro32 🤭.. their best model amongst all L1 series ever.
So great! I just got this system and this was really helpful. And your playing was incredible!
Thanks!
selling this speaker like his life depends on it and it's working

Big volume drop compared to the 15". How were you setting them up volum-wise?

Thanks for "Oh Well" and the video :)
Great ear! Love that tune :)
Loved that man, RIP PG. The first 5 notes gives that piece away instantly.
Nice to see it demoed with an electric guitar and pedals. Most demos are with Electro acoustics
Thanks!

I like your style please give more some tips thank you
Great sound! What did you use for distortion? I just picked up my Pro 8.
Congrats!! All the guitar tones were direct from a Boss GT-1000Core. The Bose was in "Live" mode.

what 15" speaker is that? Seemed to really roll the highs off compared to the L1 Pro8.

HX Stomp and 2 QSC k12s in stereo or one for mono
Is the Pro8 enough to play wineries and coffee houses, or is the Pro16 the way to go?
Pro8 would be perfect for that!
Thinking of using one of these with another p a. Can you run powered monitors off of it or integrate it with another p.a as a sub mix.?
Yup, there is a Thru in the back for more monitors :)
are the tiny small tweeters real better than something like a 8-12" speaker?
Big speakers have a more directional tone that fill the room in a very different way. The small speakers are part of the reason why I can get really close to this thing without my ears hearing... All goes down to how the tech is applied :)
Can you tell the wattage/amps it is pushing? Thanks
Can you connect it to a laptop?
Nice demo Jay 👍 What Bose tone match did you use for the guitar effects processor ?
No tone match, but I had the Global EQ set to "Live"
Question, how well would it handle a two person gig through a small mixer? For example guitar/singer + Bass/singer+ drum/keys backing track

Wobbling problems with the column. 3 inch sway no matter how hard you push down on it.
I heard the 8 isn’t so bad with the swaying
Severe Voice Threshold Problems ! 👎. My 8 is going back ! Two S1 Pros. With a sub rocks!
